Bullying can also happen in a non-work environment. In my case, it was happening in a motorcycle club. I have now left the club and have no wish to keep in contact with any of the members (some I got along with). Interestingly, my immediate family are all sick, one with brother MS, mother with a mental illness and father with cancer. Maybe, I come across as being a vulnerable person is a major target. I have a nice brand new motorcycle as well, which may not help my situation.
I have working in a male hostile environment for 25 years. She felt that she had license to make fun of me, control me at all levels and she was only the dept. head at a small college in oklahoma. Bitch, moan, and whine. She forced me to sign a document without the ability to read what it was I was signing.
I have been bullied so badly at work, so that is one major reason why I own a business now. I cannot take it anymore; the way people think they can behave, and the employees cannot sue a company. I cannot afford a lawyer, and most people cannot afford one. This is an issue that has to be addressed, so thank you Dr. Barrows. I am in the U.S. and if you ever come to the U.S. please let me know.
I also tried to document. However, I was reprimanded for doing so. The district manager was the scariest person I do believe I've ever known. AND she was/is a bully herself. She spoke with a threatening tone and constantly disrespected those around her. I come to the conclusion such a company that allows such bullying isn't the company for me as an employee OR a customer.
I was a manager at the largest retailer. I worked hard to get where I was (14 years to be exact) I completed all the tasks asked of me. I was a mentor and great coach for all the people I managed. Problem is, a co-worker (another manager) cross-insubordinated me in front of the people I managed causing many issues. I also found out our boss was drinking buddies with this bully manager. Now, after 14 years of dedicated service, I am downsized involuntarily. There is no justice it seems!
@PhasmataJ yes I totally agree with you there...there is NO JUSTICE. Complaining to authorities makes absolutely NO difference whatsoever in the majority of cases. Ive come to learn that human emotions, feelings and even huma rights are meaningless in the modern world.
Women bully me at every fucking job I hold - ever since I graduated from high school.

Tell them you are lesbian. They might be jealous of you. Who knows it might work.

@lub783 They don't care. They only care about their procedures, and filling in the boxes the right way.
Even though bullies clearly violate numerous policies.
