  • i find this easy to masturbate to.

  • brain teaser ROFL

  • My brain 2460 cm^3

  • An image of chuck norris comes on the screen.

  • Oh, and if you think MRI is all that, have a look at MEG. Magnetoencepholography uses things called superconducting quantum interference detectors (SQUIDs), which are basically very, very, very sensitive magnetic detectors. The scanner can see the field coming off the neurons as they depolarise, without prompting them with an excitation pulse or tracer; zero outside influence. The temporal resolution is also far better, the nyquist frequency of the depolarizations themselves.

  • i had a go in one of those at uni. it is a truly strange experience to scroll through your own head on a computer screen. luckily, I did find traces of a brain inside. they were trying to see if they could detect me lying about stealing a watch. seriously. :D part of the all the anti-terrorism japery

  • its the way the professor never knew he'd become such a legend that makes him even more awesome

  • Rare in proportion. The brunt of the MRI-scanners are somewhat outdated compared to the 7T. Btw, according to Siemens, Europe possesses more of these machines, than the US.

  • You're awesome, professor! And so are the others from the periodicvideos!

Keep up the good work! You're the best!

  • You have to be kidding me. That's a 7T MRI, those things are quite rare.

  • what song is this?

  • sounds like something from the sims

  • yeah or sim city 4, they always have songs like that

  • no he is epic, and the videos are epic.if you dont think so,stop watching them

  • Thank-you. You sure told me. You're a beacon of hope in this otherwise dark and dreary world.

  • Martyn Poliakoff is very good professor he will be my teacher one day.

  • 1 + 1 does not always = 2 but it also =

    10 in Binary

  • Wrong, 1+1 in binary is 1.

  • Actually, he was right. 1+1=10 in Base 2 (Binary).

Try it on any scientific calculator. Heck, you're on a computer right now, try it with the computer's calculator.

  • + is also used instead of the word "or" for some applications. ;)

  • i saw the picture on 0:09 in a book called nazi camps im not trying to be mean or anything but is he the guy in it ist called escaping hittler im sorry if this offends anyone

  • What is the name of the piano song, and who is the composer, please.

  • I love the Professor. Could someone please post the name of the composer of the music played in this clip?

  • WOOO, I have been excited by all your shows and I now sit with baited breath to see the Professor Brain!

  • YOu gotta love the Professor

  • olá

  • excellent cinematography!!!

  • I'm glad that that they didn't resort to the rather crude technique used to inspect Prof. Einstein's brain...

  • Fantastic idea!! I"m still laughing on the inside, although on the outside I've calmed to an ear-to-ear grin :)

I hope to see which parts of the Professor's brain light up when you name various elements... to see which elicit more MRI responses.

  • he is awesome

  • I love his Einstein hairdo!

  • The comments here are hilarious. Especially peoples unwillingness to admit they were wrong.

Though it saddens me to see so many misinformed people...

Can't wait to see the prof's brain! :D

  • LOL.

  • that's how he gets his hair done... instead of going to a stylist, he dunks his head into an iron formula and sits in an MRI machine every month or two.

  • LMAO!!

  • omg did he die?!

  • i'm sure the professor would make einstein envious with his hair :P

  • CAT scan or MRI???

  • :P

    The professor rulez!

  • He has ties with Einstein. (His Hair)

  • Awesome song, as well.

  • AHHH im so excited

  • Is the prof okay? Is this just an experiment? or is this MRI to diagnose something in his brain?

  • Sweeeeeeeet! I can't wait.

  • They have no more scientific material viable for public consumption. They would have to start making technical videos where they would be teaching Chemistry.

  • BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

    Awesome!!

  • the profs got great hair, shame mine won't grow that way :(

  • excellent cinematography!

  • HAHA

I think his brain will overload the the machine with it's epic knowledge.

  • hahahahah :D

  • this, i predict, will be epic.

  • I concur, haha

  • I just hope that they don't keep trying to capitalize on his hair. It's nice for awhile, but in the end, it's just fluff.

  • I cant wait <3

  • braaaaaaaiiinzzzz!

    *makes gurgling zombie sound*

  • damnnn soonnnn....nice fro, just like da niggas like it...i bet u got a piece of dat chick if ya kno wat i mean at 0:30 lol whadda Champ!

  • I predict that the chemical makeup of his cerebellum will interact violently with the machine; causing a chemical reaction which will have to be studied by his peers and students for years - nay; decades to come. Cool! Go professor go!

  • Professors powerful brain might have spoilt the MRI Machine.

  • MRI's are fun unless you're claustrophobic.

  • I absolutely adore his hair.

  • brains brains brains

  • This might be dangerous! The professor's magnetic personality could interact with the MRI machine and they could repel one another with great force! Maybe.

  • A N T I C I P A T I O N !

  • jesus christ im so excited about this !

  • I really like his "crazy scientist" hair style =P

  • hahaha, sure he also has an afro down there XD

  • XD hahahaha!

  • same

  • Main health risks from MRI scanning is in the radioactive dye you drink before the scan. As for the fields, i guess you should look for medical complciations in scientists working with MRI to study the compostion of chemicals. Would of thought their exposure to magnetic fields overall was far greater than having a scan once or twice in a lifetime.

  • Why does he have earplugs?

  • Have you ever had an MRI? It's REALLY loud.

  • MRI scans are incredibly noisy and most times last very long.

  • AWESOME.

  • haha, oops. truce?

  • you're delusionsal

  • Obviously you don't know how much the drug companies have screwed over health in general. Its very sad how many morons believe these greedy bastards.

  • you're talking pharmaceuticals -- an MRI is not a drug created to treat an imaginary mental disorder.

there are scanning techniques using things like radioactive isotopes that have documented side-effects.

just because a few branches of medicine make a few dirty dollars, doesn't mean that the whole of it is a lie.

you need a sail for that wind-swept-boat-mind of yours

  • They use contrast material some times, and it can cause complications. The overall point is that Doctors and puppets of the medical companies and prescriptions aren't beneficial in the long run.

  • "sometimes" and "can cause" are not absolute terms -- you're drawing conclusions after hearing a few words.

what are you basing your "overall point" on? what extensive research have you conducted that makes you so able to make such a LARGE statement?

  • i lol'd

  • haha, what part? that guy's a nut-case...

  • It doesn't use radioactive substances. They are just magnets that looks at the spin of atoms.

    MRI is not chemotherapy.

  • did i say that? you're putting words in my mouth: i was referring to other techniques, genius.

  • I was talking to Dan4157, not you. I thought it would have been obvious :P

  • Too many responses. I got MRI and catscans mixed up I suppose. Now those give you strong radiation, which can mean cancer.

Anyway, its too early to truly see if there are any very serious complications from the incredible magnetism with MRIs.

  • apart from iron in blood i cant see anything else organic being affected by magnetism.

i highly doubt the iron in blood is affected either.

  • There are many elements affected by magnetism, so if they're in our bodies, or in molecules in our bodies, its very possible that they're affected, but the lasting affects are unknown.

  • "Anyway, its too early to truly see if there are any very serious complications from the incredible magnetism with MRIs. "

How is it too early? MRI has been used for medical imaging for over 35 years. The risks and effects are very well understood, and no long term effects have ever been observed. Additionally, your statement that modern medicine isn't beneficial in the long run is demonstrably untrue. What do you think has nearly doubled the average lifespan over the last 100 years?

  • MAGIKS!!!!!

  • haha

  • First of all, we haven't been using the same MRI techniques for 35 years.

The lifespan has doubled within the past 100 years because we have developed useful surgeries and have made some great strides in the field. Only in the past few decades have the drug companies dirtied the industry. You honestly think all of those heartburn medications, mental disorder drugs, and weightloss pills really help you overall? Chemo, what a joke. Look up B17 for cancer and the come back.

  • Hahahahahahahahaha *gasp* haaahahahaha.

  • Fucking sheep.

  • Baaaaa.

  • Dan, I will hand it to you; you're the most literate idiot I have ever seen.

  • You inadvertently replied to me, it seems.

  • oh, my

  • (deleted previous comment because of typo)

The MRI scan will be interesting. Very nice teaser.

  • Those ties are epic, i need to get some of these.

  • Man has always wondered what the purpose of life is....

His hair is the purpose of life!

  • Why is the professor getting am MRI ? This is just for fun, right ? He's not sick or anything, is he ?

  • Isn't this causing a lot of unnecessary radiation to his brain?

  • It's magnetic, not radioactive ;)

  • The MRI is used for lots of things.I highly doubt it's dangerous.Unless you have iron in your head >.>

  • no. haha, you're mixed up

  • brain? jk

  • 'You seen his hair' hahaha, nice, what's the name of the piano song being played?

  • I cant wait to see this one. So excited ^_^

Actually should I be THIS excited to see what the brain of a genius looks like? O_o

I'm strange I know. But I cant help my thirst for knowledge.

  • the hair adds credibility to his scientific statements......hes a genius....look at the hair!

  • The hair speaks to us in our sleep. It says, follow me and learn young mortals! ^_^

  • Actualy thats a thing. Is the HAIR actually a living entity with the mind of GOD!? O_O

Or the universe itself. I wouldnt be surprised. ^_^

  • Could someone message me with the name of the song being played in this video? It was very interesting.

  • wow, they will probably say ITS GONNA POP

  • Cool this should be good.

  • coool!

    5/5

  • The hair are like little radio recievers. It absorbs information from the surrounding. Built in Google FTW.

  • His brain will cause a feedback surge in the machine causing it to explode

  • The MRI is going to reveal his hair has mind of its own, and is the source of his knowledge.

  • LOL, yes his hair is an extended neural network :D

  • Laughed so hard! :)

  • Hi! i'm fine. I was taking part in an experiment to find out how the amount of Fe in the human brain changes with age.

  • Why is he getting an MRI ?

    Is he okay ?

    I hope he is :o

  • Lovely teaser and I adore the music.

  • Hmmm....I'm betting The Professor's got "a big one." ;)

  • soooooo cooooollllllllll!!

  • Hi! The yellow thing is an earplug. MRI scanners are extremely noisy. The noise is caused by the scan coils. I had ear deferenders as well!

  • Is that yellow thing in his ear a hearing aid? Wouldn't the powerful magnets yank that out of his ear?

  • Hearing aid. The machines are loud.

  • oooooooh. Thanks :)

  • Then he wouldn't have put "it makes u think why we need the other 90%"

  • its wierd that we only use 10% of our brain it makes u think why we need the other 90%

  • We use 95% of our brain in a week but never more than 10% in a single instant.

  • i think he means we only use 10% of the potential of our brains.

i.e we have a lot of potential however we do not use our brains to the full capacity, rather than the physcial "10%" you seem to have interpreted it as.

  • "i think he means we only use 10% of the potential of our brains."

"it makes u think why we need the other 90%"

He is saying we have something, and it is more than we currently use. If it was potential, then we wouldn't have it currently. Besides, it is a well-known myth that we "use 10% of our brains", which is 10% of the physical brain.

  • how much brain power do we use then if its not 10% mr know it all

  • Comment removed

  • Clown

  • Yay,can't wait

  • I bet his brain is HUGE.

  • Great idea! And, uh, yeah: first. *ducks*
