Just fabulous; I grew up watching Chaplin and the likes of Buster Keaton & the Keystone cops because they were always a part of Saturday morning kids tv in the UK during the 60's and early 70's. Chaplin was a genius, if you read his story about how he reinvented himself for Hollywood - he was such an interesting man - and he still makes me laugh today. Yes MJ did. it seems that many think I'm saying this is an actual moonwalk. I wrote "kinda"- He is walking forward. I also said it's a comedy sketch. I did it months b4 MJ died - I can see moves MJ got inspiration from (as you said) in CC's dancing ( not necesarily this but who knows for sure?). - Maybe this inspired someone somewhere and it was *part* of what eventually turned into the Moonwalk and maybe it didn't.

Actually Michael Jackson did not use this as the inspiration for the moonwalk because Michael Jackson was not the originator of the dance move. The backslide (which Jackson called the moonwalk) was a common hip-hop dance move for more than a decade before Jackson popularized it. Though whoever did originate it may well have used this as an inspiration. But more likely Chaplin was using a common mime called walking against the wind and that was the inspiration for the dance move.
