someday J can endorse a pair of kicks...but for now, as long as i can afford a pair of kicks & a closet to put 'em in...I'm a put 'em on and walk these dogs" DOPE!!!
Pros do it so much we can't get it wrong! J-Live very underrated
My immediate response to this song was Wooooooooooooooooooooooow....thoroughly impressed by J-Live's creative lyricism and the brilliant hook arrangement and timing of the excerpt sample of Allen Iverson in a press interview exclaiming , "not a game , not a game , we're talking about practice." That Iverson sample was practically seared into my mind when i initially heard this song on satellite radio.Clearly, one of the most distinct and mentally stimulating hip hop songs I've ever heard.
I'm dissapointed that everyone is hating on Willard. Both of these artists were creative prodigies when they were 16-17 years old. Jeff and Willard are gifted and are maximizing the talent they are endowed with. The music that Willard made in the late 90s doesn't count because, then and now, is an actor/thesbian. When you talk music prodigies like Havoc & Prodigy, Roxanne Shante, Nas, Canibus, LL Cool J, even Soulja Boy (more so his business skills, young business/music talent combo) are that.
ayeee think twice!!! donald byrd i think! i also sampled allen iversons speach, check it out its on my youtube, called t"he practice" by Adj B prod. Elbee Thrie
I gotta say, Jeff is definitely becoming one of my favorites in the music scene. Great DJ Great Turntablists Great producer & a Great sense of respect for himself not selling out & playing it safe. He is always trying to push something different to help better the scene. True Gee
This is one of the very few rap albums I listen to these days. Recently, rappers have consistently showed their lack of creativity through their released albums. I hate to say it, but mainstream rap is dead. You have to actually search for the good stuff. You can't just find it anywhere.
all these new wanna be rappers/singers/producers need to listen to the words in this song. if you chase the money before you even have the skillset to do the job then that's a problem.
J-Live and Jazzy Jeff... Back is the Incredible Hip-Hop!! What all the real Emcees need to do is collaborate an album together that'll kill all this mainstream shit! Not to many people can handle the rhymes and beats of this real shit so they rely on the radio..so sad
If they are replayed elements...they are NOT samples..BUT I'm assuming that because they are uniquely sounding the same...royalties would still have to be paid...can anyone WITH SENSE clarify that.. As I'm typing this I'm listening to "Think Twice" by Donald Byrd and just heard the 'Duh, duh, duh' from the Main Source and they HAVE also sampled "Think Twice" so I stand corrected. Still big up to Jazzy Jeff that album ain't slammin'..but it's very good.. hopefully another 1 soon.
Their are 2 beats that Jeff used the intro part is "Think Twice" by Donald Byrd and once the rappin' starts that 'Duh, duh, duh, is replayed elements from "Looking At The Front Door" by Main Source. Also the tune called "Brand New Funk" ft. Peedi Peedi off the Track 17 off the Jazzy Jeff album has replayed elements from "Falling Like Dominoes" by Donald Byrd too. Big Up to jazzy Jeff that album is all good. Hopefully he continues to keep up the good work
Not at all.......probably didn't have A.I. in mind, focusing on all the bad rappers out there that come out with one song (not even a good song), make millions , all along destroying the minds of it's listeners.
this is a hot video. i ain't even know that's where he sampled the hook from and i wouldn't have known without this vid lol. matching up the video with the words at the hook could've been better, but then again it must be hard as hell. i know i couldn't do better.
