  • @1Grape4U

    Yeah, you can also use:

    私は [Name] です。

    Watashi wa [Name] desu.

    I am [Name].

    Or:

    私は [Name] といいます。

    Watashi wa [Name] to iimasu.

    I am called [Name].

  • for your next video can you teach us how to say words like, who, what, where, why, how, and whatnot? thankyou!

  • Is.. Watashi wa ....(insert name).... Desu. another way.

  • Cool! I didn't think anyone listened to "love psychedelico". I heard it in the background.

  • The english sounds are very different to japanese sounds. Every body, be carefull.

Alisa's E is an english E. The japanese E is clearer.

  • Hajimemashite. EJ to moushi masu. Iiko yoroshiku.

  • Wait a second Alyssa, I read the info box, and your telling me that if I say this to you that I can pick you up???

OMG! Hot Japanese teacher Alyssa + eager student = <3

  • please make a video on how to say would not","could not",and also "would have..." or "could have..." or should have..."

  • can you also show how to say nice to meet you in Japanese, and etc?

  • There are other ways to introduce yourself.

    ... desu

    watshi wa .... desu

and the ways she mentiond ect

  • or you can say ~~~to iimasu

iimasu and moushimasu are the same, but iimasu is less formal.

  • you can also say: yoroshiku onegai shimasu (よろしくおねがいします) although this phrase can be used when asking someone to do something for you (and you want to be polite). It can take on other similar meanigns depending on the context of the conversation but its basically an honorific which can get complicated depending on who you're speaking to etc so its probably better to just use what she described in the vid...

  • I learned a way 2 introduce myself differently like this, watashi wa (your name) desu

  • Is it me or she's hot? :)

  • totally hot!

  • First: Thanks for this-- I will definitely find these useful.

Second: Could you possibly be more beautiful?

  • ariagtou ( spell check?)

  • hmm. great videos, can explain abt how to use ' sama', 'kun', 'chan', and 'san'? tq

  • sama is the more formal and polite of the four, it's to show respect to the person. kun is use for a guy and san for girl usually and chan ir reffering to someone youger like a child.

  • I learned that you can also say it Hajimemashite Watashi wa NAME desu

so is Hajimemashite NAME desu the same thing but a shorter way after they introduced themselves?

  • Yeah, the way in which she did it was just an everyday way as we would say "Hey, I'm Luke"

Saying "Watashi no namae wa NAME desu" is a polite and formal way. And also you said "Watashi wa" well the wa needs to be replaced with "no" to make it become "My" (MY name is NAME" - :)

  • Domo arigato gozaimasu!!!

  • in the second shouldnt it be hajime mashite watshi wa alyssa desu if im wrong srry

  • another ani tard who thinks he knows japanese.

  • Ok so why has akatsuki's comment been negged?

To answer that question, the "watashi wa" isn't necessary because it's blatantly obvious you're talking about yourself which means that if you use "watashi wa" you're placing too much emphasis on yourself and will sound slightly wierd...

You do not always need a subject in a japanese sentence! Remember, this is completely different from English. Forget everything you allready know about english grammar.

  • very good i am very impressed

  • wow. cool vids

  • Your so cool teaching people japanese. Could you explain stuff like "kun" and "san" that you put on the ends of peoples names? And more numbers? (like up to 20)

  • People use "san" like mr.mrs. or miss, and to also show respect to that person.

Kun is usually used for a boy like John-kun or Satoshi-kun. :)

  • hayaku

  • or say aishiteru alyssa ^^

  • hmmm forgot already lol even thou i'm half of 3 cultures chinese/japanese/korean

  • your acent is good (: how long did it take you to ummm, recieve that acent? because my friend from america ask me how long it would take and i don't know because it is natural XD

    sorry to bother you!

  • Thanks soo much. Your awesome!

  • can you pleasse tell us ways to say ''i dont understand'' and ''i dont know'' stuff like that -thank you

  • Um, "No, I don't understand" is "Lie, wakarimasen deshita"

    I think that's right, I don't know how to say "I don't know".

  • "wakarimasen deshita" is "I did not understand".

Just "wakarimasen" alone is "I do not understand".

They also both mean that you don't know (same word, different context). You could also say shirimasen but that has slightly different implications and could seem a bit cold or offend someone if you use it wrongly. So if you're unsure it's probably safer to stick with the first. ;)

  • "Iie" not "Lie" maybe it was just a typo =0

  • if you could, can you please do animals? i already know: firefly-hotaru, cat-neko, dog-inu, dolphin-iruka, fish-saka wolf-okami, fox-kitsune, bird-tori, bug-mushi, snake-hebi, mouse-nezumi, and pig-buta. or instead of doing miscellaneous animals could you pleeeease do the 12 animals? i'm srry furget what it's called......has something to do with the chinese calander....ne? onegai-shimasu! Alyssa-sensei! >.<

  • do you mean Eto? Jyunishi the twelve chinese horary signs are;neko, ushi, tora, usagi, tatsu, hebi, uma, hituji, saru, tori, inu, inoshishi.(cat, cow, tigar, rabit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, bird, dog, pig)

  • Okay : D You are very good at Japanese. Where didi you learn?

  • she's Japanese.

  • But isn't watashiwa yumi des / watashiwa yumi. aren't those japanese?

  • "watashi wa *** (desu)" means like "i am ***"

where as the one she covers in this video is more like "i am called ***"

  • good job next time lower the music in the background it was distracting.

  • nice! thanks for the lesson. looking forward to more!
