What a beautiful, beautiful lady gone way too soon....what a heavenly voice. It's like I am in love with the lady and her music. And, yes, may our Grand Creator keep her in His memory. Hopefully someday her voice will be resurrected and enjoyed again by those who love her.
simply a beautiful and classy woman (the entire group) wow did I ever enjoyed your music to boogie to and get down to. 3 foxy momma's, fine and the package was together my sisters. Fay was and still is a beautiful woman, now performing for the lord in the upper room.
I was saddened to see this clip: I didn't know Ms. Pinkney had passed. Is there someone or somewhere to send condolences? I first saw The Three Degrees around 1970 on a show called This is Soul from NY. They sang Brother Can You Spare a Dime and I was hooked! A great group!
What an amazing song that I've never heard before. I was saddened to see of Fayette's passing. She and The Three Degrees helped form my thoughts of transcendent romance that is never heard of these days. To say that one's life has had a lasting and positive impact on people they've never met is truly unique and an emblem of a life that was extraordinary. Thank you to all and R.I.P Fayette.
I have to say I loved this line up of the three degrees, Val, Sheila, and of course Fayette. They were hot and can SANG!!! I was so sad to read that Fayette passed when she did but at least I got to see her with Val and Helen just before she left us. They seemed to have love for each other in the pictures I saw.
Fayette was a Great performer ! The girl could sing. Great tribute video ! I noticed @ 1:34 that fayette ang the girls were guest host on a 1973 episode of Sanford and Son called "Diva - Licious" I remember seeing it as a young kid. A very funny episode. The girls were natural in front of a camera. Thank you so much for the tribute post and also for the memories ! R.I.P. Fayette !
@ytgm00 Thank you so much - Fayette was a real treat, a great singer, and a lady - I enjoy all of the clips of The Three Degrees posted here - Fayette Pinkney was a great performer I love her on MacArthur Park and so many others.
Likely because of her time with The Three Degrees, Faye's voice will last forever. Said to have been a sweet and kind person I am sure she will be remembered by her fans worldwide. What a great voice she had - with a fantastic range, so powerful, sweet, clear, and crisp. In looking at the clips of Faye in The Three Degrees you can also tell that along with the other ladies she had great stage presence and star power. I shed a tear for her even now.
@ramona2400 what a lovely comment; Faye would have loved this and everybody who's a fan of these ladies too! THANK YOU!!! If you are on FaceBook please, become a member of our group "A Toast of Love - A Tribute to The Three Degrees" and enjoy our memorabila of the past and all the news of the future! (with real interaction of the ladies!)
First time I heared this one. Though a fan of The Three Degrees from the seventies. Didn't know Fayette did solo work and had such a fine voice. Rest in peace girl.
Beauty, talent and class ...each one of these ladies had great voices and were capable of holding their own as solo artists......they werent just a main singer with two back ups like the surpremes !
Thank you! Like some folks, I learned of this group via the Sanford & Son episode. SHe was so beautiful, her voice was like honey. Her face was absolutely gorgeous. I am so sad she is gone...
I can't believe that there is one "dislike" on this piece of musical treasure. The one who disliked this SHOULD NOT LAST FOREVER....or better still, should not last one more second...Stupid people should not last long, they make this world a terrible place. RIP Fayette..
So beautiful. Great work, thank you for posting. Did Faye's solo lp ever hit cd? I have always liked the Three Degrees, but am more of a "new" serious fan. Did Faye sing any leads on their records. From the hit singles I know, it mostly seems to be Shelia and Val. They were all great.
If you like these ladies, we have a very active group on FaceBook with hundreds of photos and info about them. The group is called "A Toast Of Love - Tribute to The Three Degrees". The ladies are active too, and give their reaction on things.
Also, did you know that they have a new single ?! Just out in September. A new club anthem called "HOLDING BACK". A great dance track, available at energiserecords and all major download sites.
Thank you! But... sad that I have had to made this for our lovely Faye :(
No, Faye's LP never hit cd. As you ask for leads of her: we have a few, like "Souvenirs To Souvenirs", your probably can find that too here as a video. Also, the ladies did solo acts at concerts - recorded of her doing a solo is a Billie Holiday song called "Good Morning Heartache". You find this on Japanese releases (rare items!) and on the orig. vinyl LP "Live In Japan".
WOW!!!! What a great voice and a lovely lady - class all the way - she was miss understood - and should have never left the Three Degrees - her talent is still not known to many - but she will NEVER be forgotten -
Thank you for posting this video. They were one of the most underrated girl groups around. I first heard of the Three Degrees when they recorded Maybe. I used to pretend to be singing this song on a stage. They put their heart and soul into it. They truly had heavenly voices. You don't find too much of this talent today. Also, as fast as groups form, they part to go solo. RIP Ms. Pinkney
@nutothis1 I need to come out of my Supremes cave. I've always admired the 3 Degrees and have many of their records. But, Fayette's passing is news to me. I am just now finding this out. I'm sad. Very sad. Maybe her and Florence (Ballard) can form their own brand of heavenly music together! Rest in Peace, Faye. You'll never be forgotten. I can't wait to see you again!
This is a nice video tribute. I didn't always think the three Degrees got the best material to perform, but they're all amazing vocalists. Their harmonies are always on point, but each one is a fantastic singer in their own right!!
I am shocked, she's been gone a year and i am just finding out about it. I really loved her so much, her looks her style and most of all her voice. Same for the other two ladies,a classy group of ladies. My heart is starting to break a little right now, i will miss you forever, rest in peace Fayette.
Very nice, a fitting tribute to a lovely woman who made a lovely sound. Her talent has touched many. I know that personally, what she gave through her performances with the Three Degrees is something for which I will always be grateful. Those fantastic vocals will resonate for a long, long time to come.
WoW ! ! A beautiful song from 1979. I've added this to that year in my series of music playlists for each of the last 100 years. It's a treasury of the pop music spanning 4 generations, thanks to uploads like this one.
Hope you'll have a listen and like what you hear ! !

I met you in Philly in the late '70s, when I would accompany Ken Cayre there and watch the Salsoul sessions for First Choice and Loleatta Holloway. I had the pleasure of watching you arrange and conduct Don Renaldo and his strings, and even jammed with you in the studio (we both played keyboards).
I am saddened to learn of the death of Fayette Pinkney. You co-wrote one of their most beautiful songs, "Lonelier Are Fools," a favorite of mine to this day.

Thank you for making this and posting this. I was a friend of hers and worked with her at United Behavioral Health. What a beautiful soul. She was a gem in my life. Thank you.
Yes, Fayette was also my favourite member of the band Her eyes were the reflect of her soul, deep and pure. Her smile was so touching, her voice was on top when singing Billie Hilloday. She was an angel ad is certainly now with the angels. We will miss you a lot Fayette.
