  • look at complete edition with this kind of film here from avatz ... net change ... to .

  • Stop bashing American cars simply because they're American. That's a stupid attitude to have. If you don't like American cars, then why the hell would you review one?

  • That fucker Bob Putz ALSO said that there was NO market for performance wagons when there was talk about a G8 Wagon.

NOW all of a sudden there is a market. Fucking schizoid bastard.

  • @usquanigo hahahahaha no really?

  • the FLDetour guy has the least personality of any human ever.........

  • Kimi Raikkonen could do a much better job, lol

  • i have a problem with you saying that the new GS corvette being American is a DOWNFALL..... why is it a downfall? and you made it sound like its a fact rather than your opinion. first of all its a corvette!! how much more american can you get? if youre unhappyt with driving an american car then why did you choose the corvette to report on? and to say that its interior reflects that i really dont see how thats true.. nor did i hear your reasoning behind that statement..

  • you can get a lot more american in a Cadillac, it's more of a typical american car

  • Quite right. Furthermore, he had no clue what he was talking about.

A transverse composite "leaf" spring is both pure modern technology (high end composite materials, combined with extensive research for geometry, and loading), AND it's also the ultimate in efficiency (small, light weight, quick reacting, etc).

People just think hating on American cars makes them cool. People who trash talk American cars (purely for BEING American) are clueless dolts.

  • genuine american muscle just sounds too good

  • Gemma Atkinson looks fine, downside is that she's british...

  • I did a Wiki search on transverse leaf spring...and the corvette suspension geometry and technology came up...I didn't realize that it was changed from the C4 to the C5 and C6's...I have an 87 c4...and I personally love how the transverse works...its a shockingly simple system and easy to adjust...but I do know that the leaf itself does not do all the anti-roll job on its own...it does support the car and the anti roll bar does help keep the car level in the corners...everything has its place...

  • funny because I know many people who get 300k miles out of a chevy small block which im sure would be considered "reliable"...look around you dumbass...theres soo many articles about people getting over a MILLION miles out of a sbc so shut up with your better engineering BS

  • Richard - that FLD Tour was terrible. I've seen morticians with more spirit in their jobs than you. You have the charisma of ugly betty for chrissakes.

  • the lotus looks very similar to the tesla roadster

  • "There is a downfall, it is American..." WTF? Are you serious? FLDetours can eat shit

  • agreed..theres ALOT of American cars out there that would RAPE pos jap cars

  • lol i like bud light

    i like bud

  • these guys are some of the worse car reviewers in the world. No motivation, so please add some good camera angels like TOP GEAR or have drag races

  • Also...a anti-roll bar is round...giving it the ability to twist more independently of its opposite side...a torsion affect...the leaves are flat and do resist twisting...but if they were to do this same job...why do the engineers incorporate a anti-roll/anti-sway bar then...I've only heard were leaves work in an antisway role when mounted lengthwise to the frame...such as a live solid axle setup...ie...pickups

  • Actually...it is a leaf spring...the corvettes also use an anti-sway/anti-roll bar...so yes it does support the suspension to some degree...you can change this leaf to a different firmness/ softness to adust it to your likeness if so inclined...so to say it doesn't support the suspension is false...

  • I totally say 'tad'!

  • Japan? What? Japan? Well, actually, you're wrong.

  • I gotta say, the whole "leaf spring" debate here is a bit, well, off. Yeah, corvette's used lousy suspensions for way too long. Heck, they had lousy everything for a long time. But using the term "leaf spring" to make it sound like it is using the suspension from an old pickup is not giving the 'vette its due. The 'vette's wheels are held by control arms, and only "sprung" by the spring. There is no solid axle. It's independent suspension except that the leaf also acts as an anti-sway bar.

  • Well...the suspension isn't technically true independent...think of it like this...if you press up on one side of the spring it will deflect some on its other end...marginally...so in essence opposite sides are not independent of one another...but the deflection is minimal...Now if they were fitted with a coil-over setup...the Corvettes would be the hottest thing you could get from the factory...But lets not take away the fact that tranverse leaf springs work in these cars

  • If it had coilovers, you would probably also install an anti-sway (anti-roll) bar on it. That would make it not quite independent. That is the same thing the 'vette achieves with the single leaf springs mounted in the C5 and C6. Now, I'd like to be able to adjust corner weights and heights as much as the next guy, so coilovers would be great. However coilovers with an anti-roll bar are no more independent than a vette's leaf spring, if I understand it correctly.

  • ok i msut say weve come across a problem :-) your host for detours jsut doesn't have the energy nescesary for your brand of show its like watching top gear and half way through stopping to watch an episode of fith gear.... :-(

  • Oooh, getting compared to Fifth gear - that's a pretty low blow! Lol. That show is like the punching bag of the car world, though I'd rather watch it than Motortrend or some of the other really bad ones.

  • One other thing...The Grand Sport is not $70,000...it can be had for $56,000 base...its all those other options that jack up the price...that a dealer price gouging...

  • The funny thing is...people say this suspension is old and doesn't work or can't be taken any farther than it already is...Yet the Corvette will out handle the great majority of whats out there on the streets...for a bargain. So unless I'm missing something here...it must work! Sure I wouldn't mind Coil-overs for a truely independent suspension setup...But unless I'm tracking this car at least once a week...I can't justify it. And thats what these cars excell at as they sit...track days.

  • ya 1.0 lateral G from an "old" suspension

how many stock cars can do 1G ?

  • Grip doesn't represent handling.

  • 4:11 - 4:15 who is that beautiful woman that DeAngelis wants in his shaggin' wagon?

  • two fucking words. LEAF SPRINGS.

  • here's three more words for you: 19th century suspension!

  • i prefer the styling of the zo1 to the grand sport

  • the second that chevy puts a proper suspension in a corvette and they improve the interior slightly is the day i will buy one....

  • Comment removed

  • ZR1 has more than proper suspension, but the interior...haha

  • haha, i do admidt the leaf spring suspension on the vette is very good.... but i dont know.... maybe im shallow, but i just would want leaf springs on my sports car haha

  • Nice vette but I'm not really blown away by launch control. it's great for mindless morons who can't launch a car. I see launch control as a handicap for nub drivers. Hey, I may not see the big deal with it, but for some people it's a dream come true. They can finally drive like they have skill. You're either a nub or a pro. that's life.

  • I want that chick too!

  • I saw the ctsv wagon a month ago that thing is pretty interesting. Good thing the guys from KBB happened too be stopping by my work in it. :)

  • okay, I'm fairly sure I read that the corvette used something other than leaf-spring suspension...anybody know about that? another thing, I don't see the problem with that interior, it's clean, simple, and sharp.

  • Actually, the corvette has used leaf springs since day one, in one form and direction or another. The one thing you may be thinking of is the MSRC, Magnetic Selective Ride Control. It uses magnerheological shocks that are controlled by the computer to adjust damping rates approximately every inch of road surface, at 60 mph. Its impressive stuff. so impressive in fact, that Ferrari uses it. GM designed it for their Cadillac brand but initial testing was done on the Corvette, and now we have it

  • I like the wagon!

  • Let me spell this out as clearly as I possibly can for you, as your ignorence offends me. YOU brought up the fact the Corvette has an independant rear suspension. I brought up the fact that the set-up on the back, is a short-long arm, and went on to re-iterate my first point, namely, leaf springs are archaic and outperformed in every way these days. In bringing IRS into the mix, YOU brought up SL-Arm, you're simply too foolish to recognize it.

I'm heading to bed, you're too foolish to help.

  • i love the new theme song

  • "The vette has independent rear suspension."

Alright, ten points if you can figure out which specific type in the back it has. I'll give you a hint: I've told you it about three times already, and you still don't seem to understand.

Anything you'd like to be wrong on? I'm getting tired.

  • Wow, where to start...

Short-Long Arm is the most common type of suspension on Sports car, Einstein. It refers to the upper arm being shorter than the lower one, and looks like two wishbones when viewed from above. That's the system on the back of your beloved Corvette.

In response to some genious like yourself, who claimed leaf springs are the answer to all our performence problems, when every moron with half a brain cell knows otherwise.

I find your lack of intellect comical.

  • I'm glad I'm the dim wit, because thus far I haven't made any particular reference to the Corvette, the argument is about leaf springs (Not anti-sway bars) and a short-long arm suspension type (Occassionally referred to as double wishbone).

And, because you're SO intelligent, I'm sure you had the common sense to read my post and the fact I explicitely stated SL-Arm suspensions would be what you find on sports cars (Which the Corvette is).

Thank you, for being a retard.

  • Did you actually just refer to leaf springs as "good in the twisties" and then condemned SL-Arm suspension? You do realise that completely and utterly ass-backwards, right? Leaf springs are what you find on pickups and old muscle cars, double wishbones are what you find on high-end sports car and full-blown race cars.

  • yaaa i think you should have left that exaust key in

  • The Evora looks like its based off the Lotus M250 project.

  • The Evora is pretty ugly...

  • those chrome wheels on grandsport look so cheap!!! also it sounded like it shat itself on the takeoff...

  • Derek, you should swap that LS3 into your Solstice, Does anyone els think its impressive that a Corvette can handle despite having leaf springs? I think its kinda like a 911 having the engine in the wrong place, it has its problems but its still a great car.

  • When you have a spare moment, search "Hot Rod Magazine Solstice". You and them would get along splendidly!

  • because i want to drop a V8 into a solstice or my odd love of leaf springs? thanks for the article

  • The V8. Hot Rod Magazine managed to stuff an LS7 into the front of that little thing, and minimise the weight penalty as well. I don't know, I thought it was cool, I thought you would too seeing as how they're boht LS-series in Solstice conversions.

  • lmfao thank u

  • why has lotus's newest car all looked like after market elise's

  • I love the Corvette and the 370Z, but you can't really compare the two. The 370Z almost accomplishes what the Crovette does, for less than half the price. Just my $0.02.

  • I agree. the 370Z can hit 60mph in 4.6 seconds (C/D numbers with the auto Z) and turns lap times that are also really fast and not far off the Z51 vette. considering I can get a 370Z well equipped for 33K as opposed to 60K (out the door) for a vette I'll take the Z and add a few mods and beat the vette for still less money and look better doing it.

  • If it wasn't apparent enough that you were a fanboi by your name, then you certainly conveyed the message here.

  • hey

  • that motor sounds WIKID at full chat during the launch control (vette)

  • the leaf springs on the corvette arent like older leaf springs. they serve as sway bars also.

  • new theme song sounds like it was sung by some white dude from new york who thinks hes black....oh wait...it was!

i like the new graphics though...but theme song=gay

  • My mother says "tad"!

  • WTS is "day tomaso"?!

  • lol thats facts baby

  • MUSIC SUCKS GET IT OFF! 1/5

  • show me a test where the leaf springs are inferior and I'll allow people to keep bashing them, until then, shut up about it.

  • to the FLDtours host:

you Polack your name is really Ryszard Posłuszny

    learn some polish, pal,

    regards,

    a fellow-polack

  • That vette sounded like pure sex... wait

wait yea, def need 2 change my pants lol

  • For the record the vette is not on leaf springs... absolutely retarded review of the vette. Clearly never learned how to drive your launch even with launch control sucked

  • The detomaso always was an ugly sledge just like your theme music

    just saying

  • Yo!!! Nice cars man but you are not too informed about that thing named...uuu..EUROPE! Because I never see too often European cars like I don't know....aaa.... Fiat Renault Citroen Ford(european market)!:| Look at this baby! This is the new 2010 Dacia Duster from my country this is a competition model:D 350 Hp 3L V6 24v 950kg 4X4 and 4 wheel steering:P! How do you like that Yankees!?

  • well said my friend.

  • 50% more horse power on 420hp is over 600hp when I went to school.

  • lolol look at 05:14.. come on dude.. these pants are really gay.. the pants are like gayed up with the standing position.. lol just take a look at derek.. he could be your idol,. no offence... but that thing at 05:14 was so gay.. use basketball clothes since u're that tall

  • So I already know what Ja rule is goin to say about that new CTS. He's goin to say i'm in the CTS so YES

  • The CTS-V Sport Wagon is a horrible idea.

Well, at leasst for the Us market, anyways.

  • It's a GREAT idea!!!

And it'll be the winner by default since the C63 wagon, RS4 Avant, and M3 wagon aren't sold over here.

I REALLY hope it'll be available with a manual transmission!

better than big-ass SUV and "corssovers" which are basically fattened-up "corn-fed" wagons

  • god i hate tan roofs on red cars.

  • the first launch control in a car was porsche with its current GT2, so not the americans

  • Not for Yank cars, but having a 'vette would be properly awesome!

  • Rather contract AIDs than listen to the song

  • Yeah! PROPER Manual gearbox!

Like how you guys removed that fuse, no wonder that V8 sounded so sweet!

  • Finally fast lane daily got a hold of something fast and exiteing to drive and review thank you so much fast lane daily for getting a hold of the corvette grand sport for a drive i love corvettes and i think their great value for your money.

  • they are already making the cts wagen i just saw it in the show room today

  • ok? the video was talking about the CTS-V Wagon.

  • Really hate the new intro song

  • uh ya bob lutz told the truth. are u forgetting the caprice cop cars that WILL BE COMING to the states and IS A G8 UNDER THE SKIN. Lutz didnt lie, but its what we expected.

  • Lutz DID lie. he said the G8 would be making a return with a Chevy badge on it FOR THE PUBLIC. the Caprice cop cars are fleet-only vehicles.

  • It's got 1 leaf spring, fully independent rear suspension with a leafspring running along the bottom.

  • You're right, This guy is a puss and he sounds like he's a top gear show host bashing on American performance. That car is bad ass and the build quality is perfect. Wayyyyy better that they were 20 years ago.

  • PANTERA

  • dude how are you going to diss your country like that!!! American??? aren't you American?? where are you at?? America dude!!!!

  • Are you somehow trying to say that American cars don't have crappy historically crappy interiors?

  • I have to say that I've sat and drove a number of Corvettes and I personally like their interior...plastics are used in every brand of automobile you can buy. Just because it doesn't use more cows than a farmers field shouldn't detract from the fact that this car is mean't to be a track star...Most of the people who buy a car like this...could give two shits what the interior looks like...as long as its quick and fast...and the ones who complain...can't afford these types of cars anyway!

  • Was that the blue Lancer Sportback from last weeks FLDetours in the background?

  • yes

  • what a fucking knob

  • wow my neighbor has a panthera just like that yellow one in the show. im gonna have to shake his hand for owning a car that is most likely worth more then his house

  • downfall American? what an insult go kill your self for saying that asswhipe

  • 370z roadster is nice

  • swich coffee with what??

  • @Tomek016PL

    Sulfuric Acid.

  • It seems pretty stupid to produce a performance station wagon. I don't even think the market for station wagons is even that big. It's one one of those things that the car companies want you to think you need but they're not something you ACTUALLY need. With that said, making something that's not that popular EXPENSIVE seems like an even worse idea. It's a total waste of time, money and resources to even give the idea even a thought.

  • boooooooooooooooooooooooooo high-performance wagons are SO COOL! CTS-V E63 wagon (about $85k) too bad they don't sell us the C-AMG wagon BMW needs to sell us the M3 and M5 wagons Audi needs to sell us the RS4 and RS6 Avants Dodge Magnum SRT-8 (RIP) Volvo 850 Turbo wagon (RIP) Subaru WRX wagon (RIP--the new hatch doesn't cut it) hey it's better than some corn-fed big SUV hummer thing, you get all the performance and a lot of room, sometimes 7-passenger seating too
  • A "new" intercooler, as in to replace the "old" already on the car ? lol

  • typical GM, name whoring... Not even 10 more hp or even 15 from the Grandsport, and any color you want? (even a convertible?) some performance special...

  • dude that corvette is awesome. but whats up with the price for 5 grand more you can get a z06. So not the best deal but the grand sport does have its own special styling and features. unfortunatly those featues aren't worth 70,000. in my opinion just break open the bank and pay for a z06.

  • how about two timing, female dog can suck my left nut tuesday...while i just stand there and watch her cheat on me with that "thing"... but its good knowing i can atleast look forward to watching fast lane daily :D

  • To answer your question Derek, yes, that Chick is in fact 'very do-able'

  • I think Rich is a great fit for FLDTours.

I vote for Richard (But I kinda miss Mike too :-)

  • Hello

  • I don't understand why would you buy grandsport when the ZO6 costs about the same.

  • Where do you guys get the cars to review? Do you go to a rental special dealer or something? OR make a fund raiser like seling "lemonade" across the street to buy it? Cuz you guys still have the lancer sport wagon.

  • Lolz you have no idea that they make money off of youtube amoung other sources.

Ever hear of Dave's farm he makes 14k a month just on youtube. But he is more popular than FLD lolz.

  • how the hell does he make that much money?

  • well first off, the cars are media cars. they are given to magazines, online video review shows (like this one), and TV review shows. they don't pay money for them at all.

also, you do realize that most FLDetours are done at the same time right? that's why they still have the Lancer RalliArt Sportback (which, by the way, it is called).

also, to answer your question below...

Dave earns that much money from just 5 star ratings and how many views he gets on a video.

  • why not just get the v10 r8 520 hp

fuckin idiots at heffner -- underground kicks there ass ;)

  • well considering the R8 will have more than 600hp at the crank, it'll have more power than the R8 V10. the rating you heard in the video is only at the wheels. Heffner even explains this in response to a commenter on their teaser video on here. search Heffner Performance R8.

  • The Evora looks just like the Tesla Roadster.

  • alright sweet! De Tomaso pantera is it gonna have a Ford motor again? or it's own motor? Also nice review on the grand sport guys

  • I hope so! Those Ford 351 Clevelands were frggin' amazing.

  • i would imagine they will get mercedes engines or some chev ls engines

  • probably an LS motor from GM, but that's just a guess

  • Its Pantera not Panthera.

Sorry FLD I really hate to do it but, spelling fail

  • Hi there.

    Change the stupid song.

    Thank you.

  • 2x Tuesday! (two times tuesday)

  • wow that guys dumb....

370z owns a corvette cant take a corner for shiiitt

  • Hes driven both, I doubt you have. Don't argue with his personal opinion.

  • have :) best day of my life but it was an 04 corvette

  • your dumb Corvettes faster and has better cornering and your statement isn's even stated right

  • well this dumby was lucky enough to get a chance to drive both, in conclusion finding overall best from the 370z although it was a 04 corvette.... still both awesome cars but nether piratical for my environment.

  • 536 hp thats it? from an r8? mtm got 700 hp out of the rs6.

Also why don't you ever show out takes or bloopers?

  • is that Derek D's Lancer at 7:20?

  • damn thats a chick. the vette needs to come with that chick. althoguh i dont like white girls and american muscle (SIC). but its a good idea for future marketing. choose your car, then a girl, tax free. id take it over abs or the traction control.

  • Yess.. Gemma Atkinson. I'm with you on that one Derek D.

Actually, if Bobby-boy Lutz says I can have it any way I want it... I want it like this... A Black & Silver two-tone CTS-V concept Coupe tuned up hot by Hennessey, with Gemma in the passenger seat next to me. That sound pretty good me, don't you think Derek?

  • Thank god FLDetours finally shreded a little rubber. I know they are press cars and tearing the rubber off of them might make for problems attaining the press cars in the future, but don't you think every magazine that reviews performance cars does a few donuts or power slides? They still get their cars to review even after they return the rubber scuffed up.

Also, why doesn't FLD get a long term test car? Something the staff of fld can use and abuse and we can follow how the car handles it.

  • 73k for a Lotus. I'd rather get an M3

  • CTS wagon WILL be produced? We've had one on display at a local dealership for a couple months already.

  • 70 thousand dollar Corvette GS, and your talking about the firm suspension and comparing it at a 370z and z4 level?? .....................

...maaaaaaannnnnnn thats weak sauce on my sandwich....

  • rich always gets the good carsto review, and i dont mean good by the corvett, im mainly talking about the mercedes sl he did earlier

  • There is nothing wrong with american cars!

  • False. It depends on the make and model but in general they have a bad rep and people only believe it because they don't take the time to look into them.

  • @kingofpita you spelled shit wrong

  • I beat you drive a Prius

  • american cars are mediocre but the engines are some of the best you'll get

  • a topheavy tuesday

  • YES!!!! another intelligent youtuber! lol

  • great. another edition of a crappy plastic toy. just what everyone wants. GM stop being retarded and putting all your money into a POS.

guys, it is FOOT-POUNDS of torque

oh and how bout a tanqueray and tonic tuesday?

  • honestly, whats the difference with the new 2010 one and the current one?, same engine, same interior, same styling. With this new one at least change the suspension, so it rides better in the city, change the leave springs, and work on the interior. GM should make a hard top convertible corvette, now that'd be the shit.

  • only subscribed like a month ago and im loving this show.

i do think derek D needs to stop talking to whoever is behind the camera's or on the autocue and engage abit more with the audience.less crappy jokes, more derek magic i say.

and im happy to see an american actualy saying out loud that they know american cars have bad interiors and outdated engineering in that corvette review. which is still an epic car

  • I hear you on the crappy jokes.

  • Crappy jokes are my fault. I've gone off the deep end here in L.A.

    -JF the producer.

  • I forgive you lol.

  • no man i have to say ur jokes fit in, they are awkward silly jokes, like family guy jokes where its random

  • i like the stale jokes....even though i face palm alot

  • Why are we force-fed FLDetours when it has its own chanel??

  • you know what i say? MOTOR ON

    lol

  • lol like the sarcasm....

I agree with you but i think they proved themselves with the CTS-V....i think they need to concentrate on a car to compete with C-class/3 series/A4, look at the 3 main european companies unless im mistaken a large margin of there sales are on those 3 cars. Then work on an Sclass/7series/A8 competitor and on and on. Basically what im saying is i think wagons shouldnt be developed till last

  • will people just shut up about the damn music already! you watch the show for the car news not the honkey tonk bull shit song

  • 2010 Corvettes have leaf springs in the rear??

  • yep

  • jesus fucking christ, what year is it?

  • lol. it was like that even on the Z06 i think. oh well, still great cars haha

  • Werent leaf springs around since like 1970s?

  • more like the 1770s

  • lol thats depressing......

  • im confused as to why the grand sport being american is a bad thing? it should be about the car, not where it came from. and i know his comments weren't biased based on where the car was made, but i just dont understand why the fact that its from the states is a bad thing. if anything it should be good that a car of that caliber is coming out of the states.
