Dummy. calgary is not reknowned for messed up weather. If you dont like it get out of here. calgary is knowned for peace untill dumb white people came and started putting buildings down and making the place look like crap.
We are moving to Calgary pretty soon and we are anxious to experience the snow (like the one in this video)!
Here in Los Angeles, people pack up their cars and you can actually see miles of cars going to Big Bear (in San Bernandino) mountain resort just to experience snow in winter. LOL!
Hahah! Well, if you want good snow you'll go to Saskachewan. If you want snow in the winter only, you'll go to Manitoba. If you want snow from Halloween to December 23rd, again from late January to about May, and intermittently in every season, you'll come to Calgary. You can look forward to snow like this... but just like the video shows, it doesn't really stick around. ;D
Dang.... Here we are experiencing a storm (plenty of rain, that is) that would bring snow to area elevations up 4,500 ft. That means we have to go to Big Bear Mountain Resort or Mammoth mountains (north of LA) if we wanted to enjoy snow! Long drives, too much hassle, expensive gas, etc..that I decided to watch snow on youtube instead.
I fell on the ice today D: I wish that snow only fell in areas that you only get to on purpose.... not on my front step. Wait, never mind, I just wish my city actually had a budget for snow removal. I'll enjoy it once it stops causing injury, thanks! LOLOL
You could drive to the border, I promise you there is snow there. ;D
I hope you are okay. Last Christmas we went to the Grand Canyon in Arizona and there was a foot (that's 30 cm. for you. Lol) of snow. I found out that the snow turn into hard ice and I ended up in the seat of my pants in a blink of an eye!
That blows, dude! But I guess given the climate there, it wouldn't take long to melt and refreeze over the course of a day. LOL And thank you for the metric conversion~
To be honest, I've never heard of that much snow in Arizona before. I know lots of people who go there in the winter to avoid this weather. That must have sucked hard time!
This was no blizzard. Environment Canada classifies a Blizzard in Alberta with the following requirements.
Temperature below 0
Widespread visibility reduced to less than 1 km
Sustained windspeeds of 40 km/h or greater
All of these three requirements must be met for a minimum of 4 hours for a Blizzard to occur. At Calgary International, Visibility was reduced to 1km or less for only 2 hours. NOT A BLIZZARD
I'm with the commenter from a year ago. Being from Ontario, the folks here don't know what a hard winter is, and they don't know what a hot humid summer is either. Thankfully!!! I'll take Calgary's random climate and 11pm cool summer nights over -30 for a month and humidex's in the forties. When I came here in 97 I was telling about how it hit 45 with the humidex one summer and the guy looked at me and said [and I quote] "humidex? What's Humidex?"
I don't really want to argue who's weather is the worst, since all of Canada thinks that their own region has the worst weather LOL
This video simply shows that, Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall, we get snow. And that in just 4 hours it can all be gone after first causing at least 300 accidents.
Dude, I love Canadians. Divided we stand. Winter blows. For everyone. Suck it up, its perception. Wanna bitch about winter, move to Russia. Move to the Arctic.
@dharkneo yeah Saskatoon can get damn cold. Spent many crummy winters there. But you can always expect it to be that way! Its stable.... Stably shitty that is. Ha.
lol i have lived in or around calgary most of my life and now i am in small town sk.
diva28uk, after spending time there, you will come to realize that the weather there is beyond random, i hope you dont have your hopes up for a white winter, i do not remember having more than just a few weeks of snow at a time ever.
@diva28uk Oh I wouldn't get too excited about the snow. We have brown winters and white springs that last till June, then suddenly the snow vanishes and we get arid summers. Then winter starts about 4 times in October. And ends a few times at new year. You get snow here only when you don't want it. And then all winter you hear the news complain that the crops need more snow. Then we get floods and they complain about too much.
i loved the near the end part where the vid was sped up and cars flying all over the place,it gave me a sense as if everyone was happy and excited that the snow as gone, cool vid,i liked it a lot,i also hate snow.i even hate that squeaky sound you get when you step on fresh snow,it goes right up my spine... lol.thanks!
man this
is a good snowy vid

LOL This doesn't actually happen that often. We get a constant supply of dry snow, but rarely does it dump on us like this.
I'd say we probably had at least 300 major accidents that day.

a few weeks of snow? wow. I can't remember a time when we've had more than a couple of days of snow!
I do love this video and when I start getting down of a day I play this and makes me look forward to coming to Calgary soon.

We are also moving to Calagary next year and one of the things I'm looking forward to most is the snow.
I'm Scottish though so we get a bit more snow than they do in England (which is where I have lived for 10yrs)
I LOVE the crunchy sound of fresh snow and thing it's one of the most amazing sounds. My kids will love sledging and building snowmen.
In regards to the video, I thought it was well shot and I love the fact your so nonplussed about your bus being late lol!
