I just re-watched your video, and it would seem that your a Seventh Day Adventist. There are many flavors of the SDA, and hardly any agree with the other. This is not a personal attack, just an observation of and from what you are arguing. If one wants to keep anyday unto the Lord as being a holyday, we have the free will and grace toi do so. If one chooses not to keep a day holy unto God, then that person will have to answer to God on Judgment Day as to why he didn't do so. Works cannot save U.
This weird statement at the beginning of this video speaks volumes: [quote]"I believe what the Lord told us, the Lord told us that he'd be in the heart of the earth three day and three nights and uhh... from friday afternoon till sunday morning is not three day and three nights.[end quote] What do you believe again? Let's explain this. In the hebrew language three days and three nights doesn't indicate a litteral period of time but (as common) any moment on the third day! It's not mathmetics!
@KJTheTruth Here in Amereica still use this way of counting 'a day and a night" just as the Jews of antiquity did.If one goes to jail and has to serve a 3 day sentence and is booked anytime prior to 12:00 am of the arrest date(let's say Fri.) that day is counted as one day and night. When one gets out of jail it will be on Sun. after 6 p.m. 3 days & nights have not passed, but it is still counted as 3 days and nights.Fri= 1 Sat =2 Sun=3.Simple Simon. Why can't you get this?God Bless U
@calvinclemons030 It does not say "it will be counted as three days" the Lord himself said "three days AND three nights". It ought not to be an issue how men like to count. I go by how God does.
@KJTheTruth That's right. Jesus Christ was dead and buried on Fri, before the sun went down, which started the Sabbath. That's 1 day. Sat after the sunset was two days. anytime on the third day which was Sun. when The Lord Jesus Christ Arose was three days. That's how God has always counted time. There was evening and morning, Read Gen 1:5,8,13,19 23 31. What is so hard about this? What is the crux of the argument? This is not rocket science.
Matthew 12:39-40 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Was Jonas in the belly of the whale for 1 day and a half or was it three whole days?
@calvinclemons030 John 11:9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day?... ] (Obviously we can figure out how many hours are in the night by this verse. This is simple, there are 12 hours in the day and 12 hours in the night.)
@KJTheTruth Here is where you add to what Jesus Christ said. John 11:9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day?... Your asuuming from a your own preconceived ideas that he meant only the daytime and we have infer that He was talking of something He didn't say. This is dangerous ground your treading my friend. One ought never to add or take away from the words of God. The evening and the morning were the first day.Now how many hours are from the evening till the morning?
@calvinclemons030 In the very first chapter of the word of God we can clearly see how it is that the Lord counts a full day
Gen 1:5,8 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
Here we can clearly see that a full day includes evening to morning, then morning back to evening because the next evening was the start of the next day.
@calvinclemons030 That is how God counts. Ought not we to go by the same? Your example might sound good on the surface but it is not how the Lord counts according to his word. Your example is also not true in every case. We don't go by that logic with the days of the week. Especially the weekend. I am off on weekends and I know exactly how much time I have off and it is two whole days. If my boss only gave me 3/4 of a day and called it 2 whole days off, I would call him a liar.
@The Truth Sir, your insinuating that Roman Catholicism started Sunday worship. This is a faulty assumption. The early Christian church were worshipping on Sunday almost two centuries before Constantine stared that whoreish religion in 318ad. Then u use circular reasoning when I show u Scripture on how God counted, and say"ought we not do the same" when earlier U said ".It ought not to be an issue how men like to count.I go by how God does."Keeping the Sabbath or not cannot save you.
@KJTheTruth Maybe I'm not getting the gist of this, but are you suggesting we gentiles are to keep the feasts(sabbaths)of Israel?Or are you suggesting by keeping Sunday as a holy day unto The Lord we are breaking a commandment? I'm disabled,so fortunately I'm able to keep everyday as a holy day unto The Lord, study His Holy inherent word, and everyday is alike for me concerning worshipping The Lord Jesus Christ,God manifest in the flesh. This is sounding like a Hebrew roots movement.
@calvinclemons030 No sir I am not suggesting you keep the feasts of Israel. The law contained in ordinances written by the hand of Moses is done away with. I am suggesting that you keep the commandments of God which the Sabbath (not sabbaths) is a part of. Do you anything about Catholicism?
I read an article by the apologetic John Gilchrist called "What Indeed Was the Sign of Jonah?" on answering-islam that exp'lains the matter with the right background information so that you know the context in witch these words were spoken. Read for instance Esther 4:16 - 5:1 to understand the Hebrew meaning of the third day.
@ejvandijk Thank you for directing me to the article. It explains it better than I ever could. It seems some will place an emphasis on an allegory when it should be literal, and a literal interpretation where it should be allegory. I believe KJ is mistaken and is not purposely trying to deceive anyone, though he is deceived thru lack of historical and Biblical study. Sunday worship did not start with whoreish Catholicism, the early church worshipped on Sunday for 140yrs. before R.Cath.
I thank G-d for you brother was meat to eat amen and Glory to the Most High but to add and confirm that the Sabbath is in effect if you look up Act 20:7 in the concordance the "first day" was not a Sunday as most christians interpret but the Sabbath the original word for Sabbath is "sabbaton" which means Sabbath and all but one account in the new testament means otherwise ALL "FIRST DAYS" WERE SABBATON (Sabbaths) the concordance reference is... σάββατον (Of Hebrew origin שַׁבָּת (H7676)
@KJTheTruth Ever read Romans 7? Or Hebrews 9:16? What I have come to learn being a truth seeker and ALSO being a former sabbath keeper, Is that we have been "delivered" FROM the WHOLE law. Yes even the 10 commandments. Should we be judging one another in regards to holy days? Or teaching others to observe days? Are we justified by keeping the Law (Sabbath)? Nope. If you feel persuaded to keep the Sabbath go right ahead. Just be careful not to be a stumbling block for the babes.
@KJTheTruth Read Exodus 23 and 24. When God is giving commandments to Moses, he clearly lumps in the Sabbath commandment along with the so called "ceremonial" ones in Exodus 23:12
Hebrews 9:20 makes reference to Exodus 24:8 which says; And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words. The Sabbath IS part of the covenant mentioned in Hebrews 9, as shown by Exodus 23-24.
@KJTheTruth The point? There is no distinction between Moral law, Ceremonial law, Civil law or whatever other law term people like to use. ALL make up and are part of the WHOLE body of law, which is the "first testament." This is Gods law, and it is ONE testament. Let's not forget it was God who dictated it to Moses. Just because God didn't write every little thing with his own finger, does not render it any less significant. I don't even see how that can be used as an argument.
I meant look into the historical context of the verse. Look into the language. Maybe read Psalm 119 to get a proper view of Gods holy law. That which was added till the seed shall come was the Levitical priesthood. Gods commands aren't gone.
Here, chew on this a bit: "But bade them farewell, saying, I MUST BY ALL MEANS KEEP THIS FEAST THAT COMETH IN JERUSALEM: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus" (Acts 18:21). You won't find it in many modern versions.
@GHfortheTruth You ought to look into Ephesians... There was a literal wall at the temple that had an "ordinance" written on it that prohibited any Gentile from passing that point, "punishable by death." This wall of separation was done away with, broken down in Christ. Paul, in Romans 7:12 says "the commandment is holy, righteous and good;" V14 "the law is spiritual;" V22 "I delight in the law of God, in my inner being;" V25 myself in my mind am a slave to God's law." HE DID NOT ABOLISH TORAH
I'll take the CLEAR AND PLAIN MEANING of scripture in Colossians 2 over 10 minutes of unconvincing blathering that says scripture doesn't mean what it says (including looking at the original Greek).
Col 2:16 Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day--
Col 2:17 things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.
I'll take the CLEAR AND PLAIN MEANING of scripture in Colossians 2 over 10 minutes of unconvincing blathering that says scripture doesn't mean what it says (including looking at the original Greek).
you can't pick and choose what part of the ten commandments to observe..if you are a christian who believes in the Ten commandments, you have to observe the Sabbath. Sunday was a pagan day of worship that the catholic church incorporated into Christianity.
@Msbea345 Remember, that if you fail in ONE point of the law you are GUILTY of all. We are DEAD to the 10 commandments. That's not to say they were done away with. The law exposes sin. Read Romans 7.
People can go dissecting up the law, calling it "moral" or "ceremonial, as a means to do away with SOME parts while keeping others. However, you can't get around Romans 7, which CLEARLY lumps the 10 commandments in with the law that WE WERE DELIVERED FROM. The example it uses is adultery.
@Msbea345 Now I know people like to divide the law up into sections as to make them as though they were different covenants. Sabbath observers often say that only the law of MOSES was done away with, since God himself wrote the 10 commandments. Hebrews 9:16 says; For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. If you read Hebrews 9, it is clearly talking about the sacrifices. Moses law. Yet who died on the cross? Moses? I think not.
We can also clearly see without a shadow of a doubt, that the "testator" that is spoken of in Hebrews 9, IS Jesus Christ and NOT Moses. Had this been referring to Moses, than Moses's death would have singled the END of sacrifices. See my point? It is word games. The law of Moses IS the law of God. It was dictated to Moses BY God. Moral Law, Ceremonial Law, Civil Law = ONE old covenant that we have been "delivered FROM." Yes EVEN the 10 commandments. In Christ we are DEAD to the law.
The Apostle Paul Himself told NEW COVENANT Gentile and Jew Believers to:
"Keep the Feast" - 1 Cor.5:8
Honor and Rest on God's Seventh Day Sabbath, and Keep HIS Holy Days According to the New Covenant, in which they have been, are, and will be fulfilled.
The law of Moses is long gone. By what law will we be judged (for or against)?
The law of God.
There is no start. There is no finish.
Writing His law on stone (like sapphire) at Sinai was a reminder. He tested Israel en route to Sinai (before His law was rewritten on stone) with the 4th law of ten.
The word "Sabbaths" has no definite article (The) . That means that it doesn't refer to a specific group of Sabbaths such as festival Sabbaths, but means "any" Sabbath. The word "Sabbath" in Greek has a singular meaning but a grammatical plural, so the verse should read, "A Holyday, A new Moon or A Sabbath. All three cases have no definite article, meaning they apply to each and "every" one of those observances individually and not a specific indentified group.
I am glad you made this video. It is important to explain this because there is a lot of scripture that has been taken out of context and even poorly translated by the church.
@GHfortheTruth Jesus reproved our understanding of the Law and make with us a higher covenant. Jesus said, you have heard it said not to comit murder, but I tell you if you hate, you are a murder at heart. We are now by the power of the Holy Spirit, walk by the Spirit not the flesh. Therefore worshiping God in spirit and truth. Everyday is the Lords day for us who live according to the Spirit. No flesh can be justified by trying to keep the law.
@GHfortheTruthColossians 2:13-15 (New King James Version)
13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
@WorthDieing4 , Did you watch the video? If you did ,you would have seen this verse explained. This is not the ten commandments .It is the book of the law, that contained ordinances , that was against us.Dt.31:24-26
@WorthDieing4 Well you can keep your saturday, as for me and my house we will keep everyday Holy unto the Lord by the power of His Spirit. Is there any Law against that?
@WorthDieing4@WorthDieing4 ,The Sabbath is not my sabbath,it is the Lord's Sabbath. There is a commandment to keep His Sabbath.
Jos 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
@WorthDieing4 Holy means set apart. How can every day be set apart? If every day is set apart then they are all the same, thus ordinary. We are to be set apart (holy) every day, but God ordained the seventh day as a special day of rest. God wants us to rest on that day, not do work and make it a special day. Its like a weekly holiday and it is a good thing! Jesus and all his followers kept the sabbath, scripture is very clear on this.
@WorthDieing4 Why would they have to to tell believers to do something they were already doing? Everybody was keeping the sabbath. It was a non issue. Christianity did not start out as a new religion, it was a sect of Judaism.
@WorthDieing4 Thats a great question which would take a long time to explain.
But if i may answer the question with a question. Why wouldn't we seek to be right with God by keeping His commandments?
I think the new covenant is to make it easier for us to keep the commandments. I think what Christ did for us is supposed to help us WANT to keep them.
Where did we ever get the idea that keeping the commandments is bad? Or burdensome? Or too hard?
@karenasmm Its very simple if you look at it from the veiwpoint of a parent / child relationship.
I want my kids to obey me because I love them and I know how to protect them from harm.
If they are disobedient they will have a lot of hard times ahead.
Do my children earn my love by being obedient? No! I will love them even if they are disobedient, but it will cause me a lot of sorrow to see them go off and do all the harmful things I have warned them about.
@karenasmm I agree for a born again believer, His commands are not burdensom, now the real question is what are His commands for the NEW COVENANT, I believe the scriptures say to love God with all your heart , mind, soul, strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. As we study the scriptures they define what that means for believers.
@WorthDieing4 Well, i had the same question and even now I am learning. We have not be taught these things in the church. There is a lot of doctrine. Ultimately every believer will have to ask Holy Spirit to guide them into the truth and then search the scriptures (all the scriptures). Paul is difficult to understand, just as peter said, and it is easy for his words to be twisted by false teachers. So, I think the best thing is to look at our Saviors own words, which are more clear.
@WorthDieing4 Remember when Jesus told us which of the commandments was the greatest, he named the commandment to love God and the next one to love our neighbor. Notice that the second one is not even one of the 10 commandments, it is given later on with all of the other commandments. Then He says that all of the commandments and the prophets hang on those two. So we see that he does not disregard the others, he just categorizes them as either commandments about loving God or loving others.
@WorthDieing4 If you will read the book of leviticus notice how each of the instructions falls into one of the two categories. God even teaches us how to treat animals. His instructions were very detailed so there would be no confusion. God is not the author of confusion. The dietary laws are very wise as well, for our health as well as compassion toward animals. Christ said the sabbath was made for man and its lawful to do good on the sabbath. He didnt say it was changed or moved.
I've been asking my father about why we don't keep the sabbath he brings me to Romans 14:5-9 and he says that we are now in the new covenant under Jesus and now that everyday should be a day unto God, he says he doesn't know about specifics why things were switched to sunday but, now that we are und Christ we have our rest in him, and now we may chose to celebrate the sabbath but because we are in Christ he is the new covenant that we are to follow examples a
@cristosed Ro.14:5-6. This is the only 2 vs. in the bible that if a man doesn't keep the sabbath ,he has a leg to stand on.
Paul is talking about ,"Him that is weak..."vs.1
Because one THINKS he can't meat, doesn't mean there is a meat law.The Lord made all things clean.
The same way about the sabbath, if a man has not come to that knowledge YET.We are not to destroy that weak brother.Soon enough,if he continues in the faith,he will come to know the truth and act on it.
@cristosed ,I can see by your questions you want to know the truth. If you stick with the word of God (kjb), you will come to know the truth and act on it. BUT if you put your trust in men , you will fail. All the other verses people use to justify not keeping The LORD'S sabbath, they wrest to fit there religion. Getting into religion will get you know were with the Lord.
Col2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you...after the traditions of men ...and not after Christ.
@cristosed ,Seek the truth and you will find it. I think you know what is right. That is why your watching this video.Did you find any thing you did not agree with? If so lets discuss it.
Jn.8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
The Lord said, continue in my word, not man's word.
@GHfortheTruth I did find something i'm not sure i agree with. I dont the the hand written ordinances were done away with. I think that is talking about the laws and ordinances that the pharisees added to the laws of moses.
Otherwise, it would now be okay to marry your sister and such.
@karenasmm , Having one wife is in the new testament. 1st. Tim3:2,1st.Tim.3:12
The Lord defines things in the new testament. Such as ,Thou shalt not kill. The Lord said"..Thou shalt do no murder..." Defining the difference between killing and murder.
Things that were in the book of the law,(the hand writing of ordinances) ,such as the Passover, unclean foods, things you can and can't touch, things that were a shadow of things to come,(Coll.2:17)
@GHfortheTruth Im pretty sure these things are all in the old testament too. The commandment to not kill (in hebrew) actually indicated murder all along and should have been translated murder, not kill.
God established one wife to Adam. I dont know why men started getting more wives but it certainly wasnt a commandment to have many wives. Jacob was tricked into having more than one wife!
@karenasmm , The passover was not added by the pharisees. What need would there be to keep the Passover.
Jesus Christ was our Passover Lamb. The Passover was a shadow of Jesus. To keep the passover is saying what Jesus did on the cross was not good enough.
@GHfortheTruth Have you ever been to a passover seder? If not i urge you to attend one. There are many christians who celebrate the passover. Once you experience it you will be very blessed! It was fulfilled already but it is wonderful to celebrate what Christ did in this way. It is much more meaningful than easter, which is full of man made traditions, most of which have pagan origins. But the Passover is 100% from God, rich in biblical history and really Glorifies Him.
@GHfortheTruth If keeping the passover is an abomination then why did the first Christians continue to keep it? They kept all of the feast days and offered sacrifices as commanded until the temple was destroyed in 70 AD. It is forbidden to offer sacrifices elsewhere. Christ was celebrating the passover when he said "do this in remembrance of me".
@karenasmm I don't know where you got your information, but it did not come out of the word of God. As to your "remembrance of me" statement, you are grasping for straws and drawing conclusions and wresting scripture to justify your beliefs. It is written... -For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. -1st Corinthians 11:26
The Lord did not say to "keep the passover in remembrance of me", he said "For as often as ye EAT THIS BREAD, and DRINK THIS CUP, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come."
Jesus Christ was our passover Lamb and to continue to do the passover NOW, knowing that Jesus Christ is Lord, is saying that Jesus Christ's blood was not good enough. You need to stop doing that and read the King James bible and believe it.
@karenasmm ,Keeping the passover after the Lord died on the cross is not biblical. Christians keeping the passover until 70 AD is not biblical . You need to trust and obey God and not men.
yes but it seem that Paul didn't stress that to us Gentiles why is that when you read Paul would go back and celebrate the sabbath but the christian gentiles had done no such thing don't get me wrong im not saying you guys are wrong im just not brought up this way and if im in the wrong i wanna know right in the eyes of God
@cristosed If you truly want to know it is very simple. Put your trust in the Lord and his word and not in the way you were brought up. Take this for example, in 321 A.D. Constantine made a law that all people had to worship on Sunday. Now why would he do that? He did it because real Christians were keeping the Sabbath (Saturday), the 4th commandment, just like they were supposed to.
@cristosed Think about this: you dont have to make a DWI law if nobody is drinking and driving. So if you don't want anybody keeping the Sabbath, and you are a pagan and have the power to make laws, then why not do so to keep your pagan observance? This is exactly what Constantine did. He was a pagan who falsely converted to christianity to save his empire and keep his pagan beliefs. The Sabbath has always been Saturday and still is. Like I said, just trust the Lord and he will show you the way.
i remember the tim conway message he didn't say we should do away with them he just said hey if you havne't been keeping the sabbath well keep a day for God
@cristosed ,The word of God does not say you get to pick any day.
Ex.20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God.
The Lord did not change or do away with his sabbath.
Matt.24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Is.66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
"Those who love me KEEP my commandments and not one part of the law will fail" - Jesus. You have to keep all of the Ten Commandments not pick and choose which ones you want to keep. I can steal if I keep the rest of the commandments? no!. Fear God and KEEP his commandments - Ecclesiastes conclusion of the whole matter of life
I totally agree friend. The Sabbath is Friday sunset to saturday sunset. For those who say YAHUSHUA (JESUS) is the lord of the Sabbath therefore we don't need to keep the Sabbath is just plain foolishness. Its like saying, yes YAHUSHUA obeyed God but no not us, we obey YAHUSHUA. Yet YAHUSHUA is saying wake up people, I am Lord of the Sabbath that's why I showed you perfectly what to do on the Sabbath! Its a day a freeedom not bondage!
Just to let everyone of you know..In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God.. In the beginning..and on the 7th day God rested and sanctified it. Ok..you all know this, now... Who is Christ? Ok, you know who Christ is...Also Christ is our Sabbath! No such thing now adays of a Sabbath day, But Christ is OUR SABBATH DAY! Read Your Scripture. so WE ARE TO KEEP IT HOLY!!! Because of CHRIST!!CHRIST IS OUR SABBATH DAY AND THAT IS THE DAY TO KEEP! CHRIST IN US THE HOPE OF GLORY.
KJTheTruth... Well done, 100% correct and well taught!
.
The seventh day Sabbath is a Commandment of God; and one could argue that it is the most important Commandment because it is the day we honor our creator and God.
.
In three places in Revelation Jesus tells us that the save dare those that keep the Commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. The Sabbath day is part of those Commandments for a reason; God wants us to honor Him by honoring that day.
What will the calendar argument prove to you? Even if he or I or anybody else were to prove with solid evidence (and there is plenty) that the Sabbath is Saturday, is that supposed to convince you to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy? Are you even really asking because you truly desire to know? What day do you think the Sabbath is and why? It is from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown, it always has been and still is.
And in case you were wondering, I am NOT a 7th day adventist. I am a Christian who believes the word of God and I read and do what the word of God says. I am not part of any religous denomination. My brethren and I read together and serve the Lord.
The Lord did that to Israel because they kept going out gathering manna on the Sabbath.
They were not harvesting or labouring for pay, they were an hungered as it is written.
The Lord is still speaking of his commandments up to the end of the last chapter in Rev. We are commandmend to keep his commandments. This doesn't mean 7 or 8 or 9, this means all of them.
Several things concerning the Sabbath were ordinances which were given for specific reasons for Israel.
But the Sabbath was never done away with. Those ordinances were given by the handwriting of Moses (Col 2:14) on paper and spelled out for Israel, but now that we have the circumcision made without hands and have new hearts, his commandments are written in our hearts so we have the Holy Spirit to guide us and ordinances are no longer needed. But the commandments of the Lord still stand and we must keep them.
@Myhopeisinhim No I do not believe that the laws contained in ordinances are to be kept any longer after Christ died for our sins. The feast days were laws contained in ordinances written by the handwritting of Moses.
@Myhopeisinhim I believe that everybody should keep the ten commandments. I also believe that we ought to obey anything else we are commanded to do like preach and study and such things as that. 2nd Timothy 4:2, and 2nd Timothy 2:15 are some examples of what im referring to.
@Myhopeisinhim No. Meat laws, along with feast days, are no longer to be kept. In case you were wondering, I am not a 7th day adventist. I am a Christian who believes the word of God and I am not part of any denomination.
@Myhopeisinhim Col 2:14-17 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
What do you believe is contained within the handwriting of ordinances that was against us? What do you believe the term "against us" means? And why do you believe that the term used in Colossians 2 doesn't mean the seventh day sabbath?
@Myhopeisinhim (1)All of the law contained in ordinances (not the Ten Commandments) was abolished [Eph 2:15] when the Lord was nailed to his cross. Deut ch. 31 is where you need to read. All of the things discussed in Col 2:16 were commandments contained in ordinances which are not the same thing as the Ten Commandments. feast of tabernacles, blowing of trumpts, feast of unleavend bread, and the Passover were all sabbaths but were not THE Sabbath. (2)It means contrary, it defines itself. (3)
@Myhopeisinhim (3)It is not referring to the seventh day because the seventh day has to do with creation and absolutely nothing to do with commandments contained in ordinances. The Sabbath was sanctified and made holy before any laws were ever given. It is a day of rest to the people of God (Hebrews 4) just as it was a day of rest for my King. I like your name. I hope that you mean that and your trust is in the Lord and not in a denomination or a wolf that calls himself a pastor(Jeremiah 17:5).
@Myhopeisinhim ,The feast days such as the passover, feast of tabernacles, days of unleavened bread ,etc. were all shadows of things to come. They pointed to Jesus Christ, and when Jesus died on the cross ,he nailed these to the cross. These are the sabbaths that were done away with in Col.2:16. The Lord's Sabbath still stands.
The ten commandments were graved in stone. (These are concrete)
The commandments contained in ordinances , written by Moses, stood till Jesus came . Now they are abolished
@Myhopeisinhim , Would you agree that Jesus was our passover lamb? If so why would you still keep the passover?
KJTheTruth gave the same answer I would give. Coll.2:14-17 says it all.
Everything written in the book of the law that contained the ordinances ,was nailed to the cross.
Also note vs.20-21Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
@Myhopeisinhim , The ordinances talked about in Col.2:14-17 does not include the ten commandments. They are still to be kept today. Sunday keepers use Col. 2:16 in order to do away with the Lord's sabbath day. They would have you to over look vs. 14 that explains what be talked about.
Another vs. to study is Ep.2:15Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
@GHfortheTruth Read Romans 7. It references the 10 commandments. Also, the ordinances in Hebrews 9 include the 10 commandments. How do we know? Hebrews 9:20 references Exodus 24:8 which reads; And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.
The covenant being spoken of here is from Exodus 23. Read it. It lumps the Sabbath in with others from the 10, as well as ceremonial ones.
The Lord NEVER broke the Sabbath. If he did he would have disobeyed his very own commandment which would not make him the PERFECT SINLESS sacrifice. Don't you understand what you just said?
They were not working. The Lord never said you couldn't eat. You just accused the Lord and his disciples of the same thing that the Pharisees accused them of doing.
It is written in the very same chapter...
Mat 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore IT IS LAWFUL TO DO WELL ON THE SABBATH DAYS.
I keep the Sabbath of the Lord because he commands us to. Not anywhere EVER does the Lord change the Sabbath or tell us to keep the first day of the week.
Mat 12:1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his DISCIPLES were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
-The Lord did not work nor pluck corn. His DISCIPLES plucked the corn and they did it because they were hungry. Finish the context...
Mat 12:7-8 But IF YE HAD KNOWN WHAT THIS MEANETH, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, YE WOULD NOT HAVE CONDEMNED THE GUILTLESS.8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

@calvinclemons030 Was Jesus and his apostles SDA's? They kept the sabbath. Because someone keeps the Lord's Sabbath, that does not make him a SDA.

@GHfortheTruth Thay's exactly right. And someone who keeps Suday as a holy day of worship to the Lord does not make him/her a Catholic.

@ejvandijk Did you get that information out of the word of God or did you read it in some sort of encyclopedia?
KJTheTruth 1 month ago
@KJTheTruth Here in Amereica still use this way of counting 'a day and a night" just as the Jews of antiquity did.If one goes to jail and has to serve a 3 day sentence and is booked anytime prior to 12:00 am of the arrest date(let's say Fri.) that day is counted as one day and night. When one gets out of jail it will be on Sun. after 6 p.m. 3 days & nights have not passed, but it is still counted as 3 days and nights.Fri= 1 Sat =2 Sun=3.Simple Simon. Why can't you get this?God Bless U
calvinclemons030 1 month ago
@calvinclemons030 It does not say "it will be counted as three days" the Lord himself said "three days AND three nights". It ought not to be an issue how men like to count. I go by how God does.
KJTheTruth 1 month ago
@KJTheTruth That's right. Jesus Christ was dead and buried on Fri, before the sun went down, which started the Sabbath. That's 1 day. Sat after the sunset was two days. anytime on the third day which was Sun. when The Lord Jesus Christ Arose was three days. That's how God has always counted time. There was evening and morning, Read Gen 1:5,8,13,19 23 31. What is so hard about this? What is the crux of the argument? This is not rocket science.

KJTheTruth 1 month ago
@KJTheTruth Here is where you add to what Jesus Christ said. John 11:9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day?... Your asuuming from a your own preconceived ideas that he meant only the daytime and we have infer that He was talking of something He didn't say. This is dangerous ground your treading my friend. One ought never to add or take away from the words of God. The evening and the morning were the first day.Now how many hours are from the evening till the morning?
calvinclemons030 1 month ago
@calvinclemons030 Jn.11:9 is only talking about the day time hours. If you will look in the next verse it talks about the night.
GHfortheTruth 1 month ago
@calvinclemons030 In the very first chapter of the word of God we can clearly see how it is that the Lord counts a full day
Gen 1:5,8 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
Here we can clearly see that a full day includes evening to morning, then morning back to evening because the next evening was the start of the next day.
KJTheTruth 1 month ago

Then u use circular reasoning when I show u Scripture on how God counted, and say"ought we not do the same" when earlier U said ".It ought not to be an issue how men like to count.I go by how God does."Keeping the Sabbath or not cannot save you.
calvinclemons030 1 month ago
@calvinclemons030 I have heard this before . "That the early church worship on Sunday before Constantine made it a law."
You say this also, but like everyone else, you provide no proof or scripture to back up what you say.
I would like to see scripture that backs up your theory.
GHfortheTruth 1 month ago
@KJTheTruth Maybe I'm not getting the gist of this, but are you suggesting we gentiles are to keep the feasts(sabbaths)of Israel?Or are you suggesting by keeping Sunday as a holy day unto The Lord we are breaking a commandment? I'm disabled,so fortunately I'm able to keep everyday as a holy day unto The Lord, study His Holy inherent word, and everyday is alike for me concerning worshipping The Lord Jesus Christ,God manifest in the flesh. This is sounding like a Hebrew roots movement.
calvinclemons030 1 month ago
@calvinclemons030 No sir I am not suggesting you keep the feasts of Israel. The law contained in ordinances written by the hand of Moses is done away with. I am suggesting that you keep the commandments of God which the Sabbath (not sabbaths) is a part of. Do you anything about Catholicism?

I read an article by the apologetic John Gilchrist called "What Indeed Was the Sign of Jonah?" on answering-islam that exp'lains the matter with the right background information so that you know the context in witch these words were spoken. Read for instance Esther 4:16 - 5:1 to understand the Hebrew meaning of the third day.
ejvandijk 1 month ago
@ejvandijk Thank you for directing me to the article. It explains it better than I ever could. It seems some will place an emphasis on an allegory when it should be literal, and a literal interpretation where it should be allegory. I believe KJ is mistaken and is not purposely trying to deceive anyone, though he is deceived thru lack of historical and Biblical study. Sunday worship did not start with whoreish Catholicism, the early church worshipped on Sunday for 140yrs. before R.Cath.

Suge212 5 months ago
@KJTheTruth Read Exodus 23 and 24. When God is giving commandments to Moses, he clearly lumps in the Sabbath commandment along with the so called "ceremonial" ones in Exodus 23:12
Hebrews 9:20 makes reference to Exodus 24:8 which says; And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words. The Sabbath IS part of the covenant mentioned in Hebrews 9, as shown by Exodus 23-24.
Suge212 5 months ago
@KJTheTruth The point? There is no distinction between Moral law, Ceremonial law, Civil law or whatever other law term people like to use. ALL make up and are part of the WHOLE body of law, which is the "first testament." This is Gods law, and it is ONE testament. Let's not forget it was God who dictated it to Moses. Just because God didn't write every little thing with his own finger, does not render it any less significant. I don't even see how that can be used as an argument.
Suge212 5 months ago
I meant look into the historical context of the verse. Look into the language. Maybe read Psalm 119 to get a proper view of Gods holy law. That which was added till the seed shall come was the Levitical priesthood. Gods commands aren't gone.
Here, chew on this a bit: "But bade them farewell, saying, I MUST BY ALL MEANS KEEP THIS FEAST THAT COMETH IN JERUSALEM: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus" (Acts 18:21). You won't find it in many modern versions.
1ChasingRays 8 months ago

Msbea345 8 months ago
@Msbea345 amen
ojanddiane897 6 months ago
@Msbea345 Remember, that if you fail in ONE point of the law you are GUILTY of all. We are DEAD to the 10 commandments. That's not to say they were done away with. The law exposes sin. Read Romans 7.
People can go dissecting up the law, calling it "moral" or "ceremonial, as a means to do away with SOME parts while keeping others. However, you can't get around Romans 7, which CLEARLY lumps the 10 commandments in with the law that WE WERE DELIVERED FROM. The example it uses is adultery.
Suge212 5 months ago
@Msbea345 Now I know people like to divide the law up into sections as to make them as though they were different covenants. Sabbath observers often say that only the law of MOSES was done away with, since God himself wrote the 10 commandments. Hebrews 9:16 says; For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. If you read Hebrews 9, it is clearly talking about the sacrifices. Moses law. Yet who died on the cross? Moses? I think not.
Suge212 5 months ago
We can also clearly see without a shadow of a doubt, that the "testator" that is spoken of in Hebrews 9, IS Jesus Christ and NOT Moses. Had this been referring to Moses, than Moses's death would have singled the END of sacrifices. See my point? It is word games. The law of Moses IS the law of God. It was dictated to Moses BY God. Moral Law, Ceremonial Law, Civil Law = ONE old covenant that we have been "delivered FROM." Yes EVEN the 10 commandments. In Christ we are DEAD to the law.

Cain's murder of Abel was regarded as a sin. Why?
By the law is the knowledge of sin.
What law? The law of Moses hadn't been written.
Therefore, the law of God.

KJTheTruth 1 year ago
@WorthDieing4 Thats a great question which would take a long time to explain.
But if i may answer the question with a question. Why wouldn't we seek to be right with God by keeping His commandments?
I think the new covenant is to make it easier for us to keep the commandments. I think what Christ did for us is supposed to help us WANT to keep them.
Where did we ever get the idea that keeping the commandments is bad? Or burdensome? Or too hard?
That is not what the bible says at all.
karenasmm 1 year ago
@karenasmm Its very simple if you look at it from the veiwpoint of a parent / child relationship.
I want my kids to obey me because I love them and I know how to protect them from harm.
If they are disobedient they will have a lot of hard times ahead.
Do my children earn my love by being obedient? No! I will love them even if they are disobedient, but it will cause me a lot of sorrow to see them go off and do all the harmful things I have warned them about.
karenasmm 1 year ago
@karenasmm I agree for a born again believer, His commands are not burdensom, now the real question is what are His commands for the NEW COVENANT, I believe the scriptures say to love God with all your heart , mind, soul, strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. As we study the scriptures they define what that means for believers.
WorthDieing4 1 year ago
@WorthDieing4 Well, i had the same question and even now I am learning. We have not be taught these things in the church. There is a lot of doctrine. Ultimately every believer will have to ask Holy Spirit to guide them into the truth and then search the scriptures (all the scriptures). Paul is difficult to understand, just as peter said, and it is easy for his words to be twisted by false teachers. So, I think the best thing is to look at our Saviors own words, which are more clear.
karenasmm 1 year ago
@WorthDieing4 Remember when Jesus told us which of the commandments was the greatest, he named the commandment to love God and the next one to love our neighbor. Notice that the second one is not even one of the 10 commandments, it is given later on with all of the other commandments. Then He says that all of the commandments and the prophets hang on those two. So we see that he does not disregard the others, he just categorizes them as either commandments about loving God or loving others.
karenasmm 1 year ago
@WorthDieing4 If you will read the book of leviticus notice how each of the instructions falls into one of the two categories. God even teaches us how to treat animals. His instructions were very detailed so there would be no confusion. God is not the author of confusion. The dietary laws are very wise as well, for our health as well as compassion toward animals. Christ said the sabbath was made for man and its lawful to do good on the sabbath. He didnt say it was changed or moved.

@GHfortheTruth I did find something i'm not sure i agree with. I dont the the hand written ordinances were done away with. I think that is talking about the laws and ordinances that the pharisees added to the laws of moses.
Otherwise, it would now be okay to marry your sister and such.
What do you think?
karenasmm 1 year ago
@karenasmm , Having one wife is in the new testament. 1st. Tim3:2,1st.Tim.3:12
The Lord defines things in the new testament. Such as ,Thou shalt not kill. The Lord said"..Thou shalt do no murder..." Defining the difference between killing and murder.
Things that were in the book of the law,(the hand writing of ordinances) ,such as the Passover, unclean foods, things you can and can't touch, things that were a shadow of things to come,(Coll.2:17)
GHfortheTruth 1 year ago
@GHfortheTruth Im pretty sure these things are all in the old testament too. The commandment to not kill (in hebrew) actually indicated murder all along and should have been translated murder, not kill.
God established one wife to Adam. I dont know why men started getting more wives but it certainly wasnt a commandment to have many wives. Jacob was tricked into having more than one wife!
karenasmm 1 year ago
@karenasmm , All these things were given to Israel to point them to the coming Messiah (Jesus Christ).
Once their Messiah came (Jesus Christ) these things were no longer needed.
GHfortheTruth 1 year ago
@karenasmm , The passover was not added by the pharisees. What need would there be to keep the Passover.
Jesus Christ was our Passover Lamb. The Passover was a shadow of Jesus. To keep the passover is saying what Jesus did on the cross was not good enough.
GHfortheTruth 1 year ago
@GHfortheTruth Have you ever been to a passover seder? If not i urge you to attend one. There are many christians who celebrate the passover. Once you experience it you will be very blessed! It was fulfilled already but it is wonderful to celebrate what Christ did in this way. It is much more meaningful than easter, which is full of man made traditions, most of which have pagan origins. But the Passover is 100% from God, rich in biblical history and really Glorifies Him.
karenasmm 1 year ago
@karenasmm , No I haven't , nor will I. Keeping the passover NOW after the Lord died for us is an abomination.
Keeping Easter also is an abomination.
The bible plainly tells us in Coll. 2 what was done away with.
GHfortheTruth 1 year ago
@GHfortheTruth If keeping the passover is an abomination then why did the first Christians continue to keep it? They kept all of the feast days and offered sacrifices as commanded until the temple was destroyed in 70 AD. It is forbidden to offer sacrifices elsewhere. Christ was celebrating the passover when he said "do this in remembrance of me".
karenasmm 1 year ago
@karenasmm I don't know where you got your information, but it did not come out of the word of God. As to your "remembrance of me" statement, you are grasping for straws and drawing conclusions and wresting scripture to justify your beliefs. It is written... -For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. -1st Corinthians 11:26
KJTheTruth 11 months ago
@karenasmm
KJTheTruth 11 months ago
@karenasmm ,Keeping the passover after the Lord died on the cross is not biblical. Christians keeping the passover until 70 AD is not biblical . You need to trust and obey God and not men.

yes but it seem that Paul didn't stress that to us Gentiles why is that when you read Paul would go back and celebrate the sabbath but the christian gentiles had done no such thing don't get me wrong im not saying you guys are wrong im just not brought up this way and if im in the wrong i wanna know right in the eyes of God
cristosed 1 year ago
@cristosed If you truly want to know it is very simple. Put your trust in the Lord and his word and not in the way you were brought up. Take this for example, in 321 A.D. Constantine made a law that all people had to worship on Sunday. Now why would he do that? He did it because real Christians were keeping the Sabbath (Saturday), the 4th commandment, just like they were supposed to.
KJTheTruth 1 year ago
@cristosed Think about this: you dont have to make a DWI law if nobody is drinking and driving. So if you don't want anybody keeping the Sabbath, and you are a pagan and have the power to make laws, then why not do so to keep your pagan observance? This is exactly what Constantine did. He was a pagan who falsely converted to christianity to save his empire and keep his pagan beliefs. The Sabbath has always been Saturday and still is. Like I said, just trust the Lord and he will show you the way.

i remember the tim conway message he didn't say we should do away with them he just said hey if you havne't been keeping the sabbath well keep a day for God
cristosed 1 year ago
@cristosed ,The word of God does not say you get to pick any day.
Ex.20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God.
The Lord did not change or do away with his sabbath.
Matt.24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Is.66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
Both of these are in the future.

TheStrongDelusion 1 year ago

KJTheTruth 2 years ago
But the Sabbath was never done away with. Those ordinances were given by the handwriting of Moses (Col 2:14) on paper and spelled out for Israel, but now that we have the circumcision made without hands and have new hearts, his commandments are written in our hearts so we have the Holy Spirit to guide us and ordinances are no longer needed. But the commandments of the Lord still stand and we must keep them.

Do you believe all the feast days should still be kept?
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim No I do not believe that the laws contained in ordinances are to be kept any longer after Christ died for our sins. The feast days were laws contained in ordinances written by the handwritting of Moses.

What laws do you believe one should still keep today?
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim I believe that everybody should keep the ten commandments. I also believe that we ought to obey anything else we are commanded to do like preach and study and such things as that. 2nd Timothy 4:2, and 2nd Timothy 2:15 are some examples of what im referring to.

@Myhopeisinhim No. Meat laws, along with feast days, are no longer to be kept. In case you were wondering, I am not a 7th day adventist. I am a Christian who believes the word of God and I am not part of any denomination.

@Myhopeisinhim Col 2:14-17 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

@KJTheTruth
What do you believe is contained within the handwriting of ordinances that was against us? What do you believe the term "against us" means? And why do you believe that the term used in Colossians 2 doesn't mean the seventh day sabbath?
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim (1)All of the law contained in ordinances (not the Ten Commandments) was abolished [Eph 2:15] when the Lord was nailed to his cross. Deut ch. 31 is where you need to read. All of the things discussed in Col 2:16 were commandments contained in ordinances which are not the same thing as the Ten Commandments. feast of tabernacles, blowing of trumpts, feast of unleavend bread, and the Passover were all sabbaths but were not THE Sabbath. (2)It means contrary, it defines itself. (3)
KJTheTruth 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim (3)It is not referring to the seventh day because the seventh day has to do with creation and absolutely nothing to do with commandments contained in ordinances. The Sabbath was sanctified and made holy before any laws were ever given. It is a day of rest to the people of God (Hebrews 4) just as it was a day of rest for my King. I like your name. I hope that you mean that and your trust is in the Lord and not in a denomination or a wolf that calls himself a pastor(Jeremiah 17:5).

@KJTheTruth
Have you ever examined the phrase that is posted in colossians 2? And compared it to the meaning it had in the old testament?
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim Which phrase exactly and what meaning in the old testament? You will need to be more specific please.
KJTheTruth 1 year ago
@KJTheTruth
This one: holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]
It is used around 8 times in the scriptures, 7 of which are in the old testament.
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim ,The feast days such as the passover, feast of tabernacles, days of unleavened bread ,etc. were all shadows of things to come. They pointed to Jesus Christ, and when Jesus died on the cross ,he nailed these to the cross. These are the sabbaths that were done away with in Col.2:16. The Lord's Sabbath still stands.
The ten commandments were graved in stone. (These are concrete)
The commandments contained in ordinances , written by Moses, stood till Jesus came . Now they are abolished
GHfortheTruth 1 year ago 2
@GHfortheTruth
How do you determine what were shadows of things to come, and what must still be kept today?
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim , Would you agree that Jesus was our passover lamb? If so why would you still keep the passover?
KJTheTruth gave the same answer I would give. Coll.2:14-17 says it all.
Everything written in the book of the law that contained the ordinances ,was nailed to the cross.
Also note vs.20-21Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21: (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
GHfortheTruth 1 year ago 2
@Myhopeisinhim , The ordinances talked about in Col.2:14-17 does not include the ten commandments. They are still to be kept today. Sunday keepers use Col. 2:16 in order to do away with the Lord's sabbath day. They would have you to over look vs. 14 that explains what be talked about.
Another vs. to study is Ep.2:15Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
GHfortheTruth 1 year ago 5
@GHfortheTruth Read Romans 7. It references the 10 commandments. Also, the ordinances in Hebrews 9 include the 10 commandments. How do we know? Hebrews 9:20 references Exodus 24:8 which reads; And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.
The covenant being spoken of here is from Exodus 23. Read it. It lumps the Sabbath in with others from the 10, as well as ceremonial ones.

@Myhopeisinhim ,All the feast days are contained in this book of the law, hand written by Moses(Dt.31:24-26) .

The Lord NEVER broke the Sabbath. If he did he would have disobeyed his very own commandment which would not make him the PERFECT SINLESS sacrifice. Don't you understand what you just said?
KJTheTruth 2 years ago
Remembering the Sabbath and KEEPING it holy is a commandment of the Lord and that is where we stand.
KJTheTruth 2 years ago
They were not working. The Lord never said you couldn't eat. You just accused the Lord and his disciples of the same thing that the Pharisees accused them of doing.
It is written in the very same chapter...
Mat 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore IT IS LAWFUL TO DO WELL ON THE SABBATH DAYS.
I keep the Sabbath of the Lord because he commands us to. Not anywhere EVER does the Lord change the Sabbath or tell us to keep the first day of the week.
KJTheTruth 2 years ago
