There was a rule that if you gave a card to one person you had to give one to everyone else, too. I always got the really corny 5-saying cards like Rhett said, and everyone else got the nice ones. I was one of the less-popular kids, so I definitely remember Valentine's Day during elementary school. Especially when they made us hand out the valentines during class. I remember one specific case where one of the kids who was even lower on the totem pole received NO valentines. He was actually crying in his seat. So I erased the names off one of mine and put his name on and dropped it in his pouch.
