Valentines day... I order chinese and watch all the Die Hard and Lethal Weapon movies to ignore the Hallmark holiday. I know because I'm a girl I should like chick flicks, but action movies are where its at!
we made lil mailboxes and what sucked later on in the years a couple kids bought candies and stuff but they made a rule that u couldnt give out foods so the kids had to keep their candies and give out the cards that the candies were in :(
somehow i missed this episode the first time i watched the series but I have always wondered if they had ever liked the same girl.. guess that answers my question! wonder if they ever liked the other one's wife at any point in time (like before they were married).. -.- Rhett, did you ever like Christy?? how about you Link? ever find Jessie attractive?? how frequently did you guys trade chicks? haha im sure there are some very interesting stories behind this! GMM material???
Actually, in Fuquay-Varina, the WAL-MART is in the same shopping center of GameStop, Cisi's pizza, and Home Depot. BTW, I would know this, I live in Fuquay.
I hate V-Day, oh man how I hate it, makes me sick. Never had a Vday chick, and yes I did the pouches in school, no one gave me a card, and when I told the teacher, she laughed at me. Hate it.
Link, I know what you mean with the pouches. In my classes, we had shoe boxes or brown bags that we decorated all day untill it was time to pass out the cards. Then we had games and treats and stuff.
In elementry school we made the pouches and had a whole hour set out for the card passing outs. Then we got into middle school and were confused about what we should do... We stopped doing cards :( lol
I remember in 3rd grade we made the pouches like Link said. We all had to go around and drop little cards into each other's pouches. There was a rule that if you gave a card to one person you had to give one to everyone else, too. I always got the really corny 5-saying cards like Rhett said, and everyone else got the nice ones. I got ones that said stuff like "Let's have fun!" and "You're cool." I hated Valentine's day.
I did that too in grade school, but we decorated brown paper bags and taped it to the side of our desk, then go around the class putting in a card and a chocolate into each person's bag.
The first thing I noticed in the video was Link's shirt, so I immediately started singing, "At the REEEEEEED HOUUUUUUSE! Where black people and white people buy furniture!" I'm very glad that nobody was home.
I got the ones that you can stick lollipops into. My mom bought a large bag of dumdum pops and I would write my friends names down and put in a lollipop and then hand them out. We had a paper pouch thing that would be placed on top of our desks; but this only happened one year. :P
I didn't have a valentine, I didn't care though because I had chocolate! :D
I made a pouch and the little paper valentines day too! K-4 :) we dp carnations at school white for friend pink for crush red for love. Ahh good times, good times
I stayed home and watched The Notebook. I figured that because my boyfriend was working and I couldn't have love, at least Noah and Allie could have love.
I'm homeschooled, but we would give cards to everyone in our homeschool group, and we had paper bags with our names on them. We would put valentines in the bags, and then collect ours at the end of the day.
I'm in a small country in Central Asia with a group of 10 Americans and one Canadian. So the one single guy took out the six single girls to a nice Chinese restaurant. It was nice. He's nice ;)
Ps. We totally made the pouches in grade school. And I totally went through the five different valentines and gave the mushy ones to the cute boys and the lame ones to the... other ....boys. *High five Link!*
When Link's phone vibrated, I thought it was mine. I forgot to stop the video and went to check. When I came back, I replayed it about 30 seconds back. The second time it vibrated, I went to check.. Again.
We definitely made those pouches in elementary school! Any holiday we didn't have off from school ended up being unproductive party days, including valentines. Rhett is missing out.
We got a list of people in our class and we had to give valentines to everyone in our class. that was in grade school or elementary school or whatever you call it. :P
I have never heard of this pink ice you speak of.
I always used Links strategy for giving/interpreting valentines.
And I must admit, I had forgotten about the 'pouch' (we used to make ours of construction paper, glitter and other art supplies) until you mentioned it.
We never made pouches. My teacher gave us brown paper bags and a crayon and told us to decorate it. It didn't even matter. I just wanted the candy. =)
Oh my goodness! I remember doing those pouch things! Except we stuck ours to the walls outside the classroom... But I had the hardest time deciding between what was manly and what was girly... Good times though...
i dont celebrate it. my boyfriend and i say that you shouldnt need a day to show your affection. We try to randomly do really cute/ nice things. And show affection every day. Not to mention we dont like giving our money to something silly and pink. Not to mention that it just makes alot of people feel crappy. lol that is what i think
I love this webisode because it is not saturated with half nude girls, sexual innuendoes, flashy lights and advertisements. It's just two guys talking, and it is so entertaining. Keep up the great work!
My mom and dad helped me design a "mailbox" shaped like a treasure chest. It was pretty cool :) So yeah, we did that in grade school. I wish it was still like that.
yes i did that in elementary school. we would be the valentine's cards and write each of my classmate's names on each one and then my name and it would come attached with candy or even with a pouch of candy
Link, I totally agree. Norah Jones, John Mayor, and Keith Urban are all three amazing artists. They sounded awesome combining together too. Link we had paper mail boxes on our desks. We got preeetty creative in elementary school. I still haven't had a boyfriend a-lining with those gift giving holidays. You never seem to make it through Valentines day, ya know?
Yeah in my classes we would buy like Willy Wonka boxes where you but everyone's names and a pixie stick on each card. We made clever boxes like dragons or basketball hoops and stuff. Good times :( i wish i still got free candy
i was a lot like link during elementary school valentine's days. my class would make the pouches and hand out valentines and i was always really specific about what valentine i gave to who and i would overanalyze what i got back.
My birthday is February 17, and I'm going to be sixteen. It would mean the WORLD to me if you guys wished me a happy birthday on the GMCL show, which I have been watching since the beginning. It would be the best gift like EVER. Please consider it. I would freak out.
Love, Your Loyal Viewer,
Gracie
P.S. I will also play on my violin any song you request. I'm good. :)
@iahaver yep, i personally made the foil-covered robot shoebox several years in a row. (with the pipe cleaner antenna and everything!) i always thought it was super creative. lol
i also thought that i would get more valentine's based on how awesome my box was... so every year i would get more frustrated when the ugly boxes got the most valentines. ugh.
On my valentines day? I sat in my room, did some school work, played some games. My parents come home and my mother gave me chocolate. It was only when I went to bed that I went "...It's fucking Valentines day...and I stayed home and ate chocolate..." I am now observing my body for boobs and periods.
I think it's hilarious that you say, "We don't prepare for GMCL, we just decide when we get here what to do." Because on one of the more recent ones, you talked about the Owl who beheaded chickens, and you had a chicken head that you put on to re-enact the carnage. So...you just had a costume chicken head laying around and said, "Oh, good, we can use this for that..."?
I was one of the less-popular kids, so I definitely remember Valentine's Day during elementary school. Especially when they made us hand out the valentines during class. I remember one specific case where one of the kids who was even lower on the totem pole received NO valentines. He was actually crying in his seat. So I erased the names off one of mine and put his name on and dropped it in his pouch.
I remember making V-day boxes. We (our parents) would each make a box of different sorts: big hearts, mailboxes, cars, aluminum-foil-wrapped robots (my favorite), etc. That's how we did it in Utah at least. . . anyone else?
The more I wathc GMCL/GMM, Rhett & Link remind me of JD & Turk from Scrubs

But I hated the whole ritual.

I remember making V-day boxes. We (our parents) would each make a box of different sorts: big hearts, mailboxes, cars, aluminum-foil-wrapped robots (my favorite), etc. That's how we did it in Utah at least. . . anyone else?

Link is right about Jolene. Takes real music appreciation to say that.
