This version is actually more meaningful to me than Tammy and Marvins'. I love the original no doubt, but this tempo's slower and sung with more compassion. It pulls my heartstrings in a way that the other can't.
yeah...no one else in the jackson 5 had soul like michael did. when i first heard this version, i heard (whoever that jackson is) first, and i thought to myself, uh, nope, and switched back to marvin and tammy. BUT this time i stayed until michael came on.
i'm only 12 and 70's music is the best I do not like today's music because they sing about the same thing sex girls and money back then it was about love
@Londonfallz314 Really? Interesting again... But have you ever listen Michael's next albums or not? Because he was the best til the end of his life...
i love this song...mymost favorite version is this one and aretha franklins version she sung at the grammies in about 1978...or something like that...when she recieved her 10th grammy in a row!

Some songs were done perfectly the first time and should be left alone. Frankly, this song is one of those. The Marvin & Tammi original is musical excstasy.
This song was written specifically for Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell by that great song writing duo, Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson. While not the original recording, the tempo was slowed down to feature the unique aesthetic of the group's harmonic ablities. Jermaine shared lead vocals on this recording, who is an amazing vocalist in his own right. In a word, this is simply a beautiful, stylized rendition of the original..

i like this one, but i rele do perfer donny and marie's version. dont get me wrong, i love both groups, but this song worked better for donny and marie
THis version is good too, giving the JAckson 5 twist... Donny and MArie's is ok. But imho, THE best and the greatest version is the original, MARVIN GAYE AND TAMMI TERRELL's. Now, that is what good music is all about...
@xoxrollercoastersxox You have an old soul, you may have lived back then in a past life, this post is three years old so your bout 16 or 17 now.... :)
@xoxrollercoastersxox That's really interesting! Everybody want to back the time... Me too! I didn't want that end for Mike... He didnt't deserve it... Never!
DAMN! What the @#$% happend to nowadays R&B? It's crap. Todays artist ain't got NOTHING on the artists of yesteryear! I'll admit that. AND I WAS BORN IN 1977!
Michael truly had a gift. It's like he had been here before...

Donny & Marie did a faithful Marvin and Tammi impression, but the Jackson 5 took this song to a brand new height. No wonder we all loved them.
