Congratulations Tim on ur achievement...Thanks for showing us such a marvellous view..which we would never be able to see ourselves..Thanks once again...and Bravo
Hi Jim, thanks for the comment. If you have done Kili and Denali then I'd say you are well on your way to achieving your goal. I have put a load of info on thebige2012.co.uk which hopefully explains what sort of skills you should be looking at having. I haven't done Denali myself but it has got to be a very credible tick in your mountaineering cv. That has also got to be tempered with an eye for detail, slick personal admin, a certain amount of self belief and the ability to dig deep! Good luck.
How hard is it? I have seen the various shows, esp the one with Russell Brice. I have dome Kili and Denali, but know Everest is another story. How long did you train and what mountains
@rajaparuchuri Many thanks for the comment. There are various other videos and uploads for you to ave a look at - hope that you enjoyed the show. Cheers - Tim
Congratulations!!It's incredible, in the beginning it seems you are on a balloon or something. Thank you so much for uploading. Kanchenjunga is not the one on the left of Makalu, is it?it's in the far distance, right?I'm reading some books on the history of Everest and I just envy you all that made it up to the top, beacuse you are great people. I couldn't ever make it, I haven't any experience. But I'm glad to see photo and video like yours. Maybe one day I go to the base camp!!
@lwinnie Hi there and thanks for the comment. Kanch is way way off - you can just about make it out amongst the haze. If you go to thebige2012.co.uk/everest_2012/summit_day_pics.htm there's a picture about half way down the page which gives better clarity. Hope this helps. And Base Camp is definitely worth a visit - there's some great trekking to be had in Nepal. Cheers - Tim
@0113L Well I did have my clothes on - but I guess that's not what you mean. It was a great trip and made psychologically much easier by the fact that I'd been there before. But, yes, it's a big effort. Hope that you enjoy my other videos and uploads. Cheers - Tim
@sjmadsen34 Thanks for that. Glad that you enjoyed the show and hope you like the other posts and films I've done. Going again in 2012 so watch out for bigger and better footage.
@RickPacker Thanks for that. Glad that you enjoyed the show and hope you like the other posts and films I've done. Going again in 2012 so watch out for bigger and better footage. Have a look at thebige2012.co.uk for more info.
Believe me, there's people coughing and hacking all over the place. Difficult to keep tabs on who everyone is but I don't believe there were any problems on our summit day. Hope that you enjoyed the upload and have had a look at my other vids. Back again in 2012 for bigger and better footage so watch this space. Cheers - Tim
On foot ... with support from the Climbing Sherpas (people tend to forget that they get to the summit with the assistance of their staff). Glad you enjoyed the show. Back again 2012 and hoping for even better footage. Cheers - Tim
@cazbuckland Thanks and hope you enjoyed Kili. AMS didn't bother us at all after a sensible 3 week trekking itinerary over high passes etc before arriving at EBC. But it's a much longer trip than Kili - how were you? Hope you like the other uploads and videos. Cheers - Tim
@JFiddely, are you stupid or what? if you really want to climb that mountain, then do you would do your own research by using google, and not expecting that someone is going to write a fucking book for you, so you can sit on your lazy ass while choking on donuts and drpepper!
@JFiddely save your money. from what i've heard it can cost between $20,000 & $45,000 USD or more to do the whole trip. Get experience by climbing lower summits and i'd imagine this is defentely something you can't do alone so get to know people that do these kind of things. Sorry I don't know more, those are just things I know you will have to do for sure if you ever want to climb everest, but it can be done!
@JFiddely Seems that someone else took the liberty of replying to you in a bit of a derogatory manner. Shame. Just back from an expedition on Ama Dablam - hence the late reply. Anyway if you are at high school and want to get in to climbing then there may well be a local club or climbing wall where they can show you the ropes (so to speak). That way you'll get an idea about whether it is for you and you can always take it further. It's great fun ... but not necessarily for everyone. Cheers - Tim
@JFiddely Consider the short 1-3 day climbs in Oregon or Washington, I worked with Timberline @ Hood to learn all my fundamentals - rope, ice, rock, self rescue etc. Even their simple drills like walking on angled wet rock in crampons was just ridiculously humbling. Spend even one night at 11,239 and you will learn the meaning of cold. Move to 3-5 day expedition courses, then the 13 day courses in Alaska. then try some 14-18K's. Lots of good, accredited schools at good prices.
Splendid video and lovely panorama, I've done Elbrus and others but nothing like Everest, I'd probably want to hit Denali before tackling an Everest - no way would i want to underestimate it (lol especially if one is forking out 50K). Wish people would realize it can take years to train properly and do a lot of climbs first.
@KeelerMediaGroup You are going about it in the right way. Slowly build up your experience and then decide whether The Big E is really for you. Nice one - Tim
"I'm standing on Everest, by the way." (0:45) Important little detail there- glad you remembered! Thanks for showing us the view from the top of the world.
@timmymosedale Quite the opposite, Tim: it was a great tension release! I know how harrowing climbing Everest is for anyone, having just read "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer. *shudder*
@timmymosedale Hey lads congrats on the climb! and nice one Tim. havent climbd anything in my life as of yet. i wish to climb everast one day any suggestions to begin?
@videowilliams it does but you know what you earned it amazing. It's somehow typically British humour to me which is really funny. Nevertheless great accomplishment sir! :)
@videowilliams it does but you know what you earned it amazing. It's somehow typically British humour to me which is really funny. Nevertheless great accomplishment sir! :)
Wow, huge respect. I recently climbed England's highest point. I cannot imagine the effort, training, preparation and fitness involved in climbing something 8 times higher than it. I'd like to buy you a pint :)
Hi there, used oxygen to summit & it makes a HUGE difference (plus keeps fingers & toes warm). Not too bad without it on on the summit. Hope you liked the upload - there are various other bits & pieces I've posted. Enjoy the show. Cheers - Tim
Thanks for that and glad you liked the show. I advertise the trip at US$45,000 and there is your international flight and personal gear and insurance to take in to account. The cost of the trip with me includes absolutely everything including some of the best Climbing Sherpas on the hill and ample oxygen. Plus an excellent 3 week trekking itinerary over 3 high passes and taking in a trekking peak. Let me know if you are interested. Cheers - Tim
There was a big Eco clean up expedition there this year collecting loads of crap & taking it down. It is very sad that wherever humans go there is evidence of one kind or another of our presence. Thankfully none of my team's rubbish was left on the hill as we brought everything down. Unfortunately some people don't have the same standards (or they're too knackered - not that that is a suitable excuse). T
That's so cool that you have successfully climbed Everest from both sides ! I am soooo interested in climbing Everest but I have never even climbed a mountain o_o would love to climb it someday ! Congrats on another climb to the summit ! That's amazing !
