  • Once a C5 always a C5... It's the same old junker with nice engines on it... A polished turd more or less...

  • @vetdrvr84 Sounds like you were to dumb to make it into the Airforce. Hope you had fun in the Army you grunt.

  • what we need to do (we as in the U.S.A.) need to build the worlds BIGGEST AIRPLANE, something like 500 feet long, with a lol 600 foot wingspan, give it about 2 million lbs. of thrust, have the wings have a 10,000 sq. ft. area..........lol im just blowin this out of my head.......

  • too bad it sounds like a 747 now =[

  • Suck it AN-124 ! !

  • holy crap i think i creamed myself!

  • cool to see the next generation of C-5 Galaxies

  • WOW what a short Takeoff!

    Quite Engines too!

  • Amazing takeoff! Those new GE engines sure are quiet too lol! great vid

  • SWEET takeoff - WOW. For a plane that size, doesn't take a lot of room for it to get off the ground. 5/5 stars!! Adding to favorites. =]

  • The announcer may want to throw in while talking about how amazing the C-5 take off was, that the plane was practically empty and low on fuel...I've seen 777s do the same while empty.

  • umm you might want to look at the size and weight of any aircraft boeing or not, its amazing how far we have come in engine power...and everyone knows its empty, its an airshow and he never said it was fully loaded????

  • Do you think the regular air show spectator who doesn't know too much about aviation would factor that in on their own?

  • True, I bow to you. Common sense is just to much for anyone these days I guess. Aside fron that, I honestly wish the announcers other then the one good one, were more informative and speakers set up other places other then the flight line at airshows...Need to get everyone interested in the show even if they are at the shirt tent.

  • What's your point? All aircraft of that type takeoff in shorter distances when they are light vs. heavy. If they loaded it up to the max GRWT of 840K lbs you would have asked why they were using so much runway. The real comparison is the takeoff distance of a similarly loaded C-5A/B vs. the C-5M since it has 200K lbs of thrust compared to 160K lbs of a C-5A/B.

  • 172k lbs out of the TF-39-1C's on the A or B model.

  • 777 is a great aircraft...also uses significantly larger engines even though there's only 2 of them. However it is much smaller and lighter. They can't be compared.

  • 777s was just a simple example. I've also seen the same out of 747-400s, A340s, etc.

  • Little disappointed that they changed the engines on the C-5... but it's overall for the best. Do you know if the C-5 that is set to be on static display in Binghamton is equipped with the new engines? Otherwise I'll try to make the arrival or departure. :D Thanks!

  • Probably either an A or B. There's too few Ms out there right now.
