  • a. I want to go to Tokyo Disneyland too! I think I might next year since I signed for year two ^_^

    b. I heard of the Miyazaki Museum. Where is it? I'll have to check that out. Ghibli and Miyazaki = win!

    c. In Kanagawa they only allow you to stay three years then they send you somewhere else if you want to stay (if they can place you)

    d. no free wifi around where I leave in Yokohama I really kind of regret living so close to Tokyo to be totally opposite from you. I've enjoyed these videos much!

  • It is interesting how your placement does affect your JET experience. Sometimes being out in the real inaka can force a person to develop other social habits or skills, or give up and go home after a year. Being so close to Tokyo is "easier" in some ways, but would also be more fun for many JETs.

The Ghibli Musuem is in Mitaka - near Tokyo.

  • When do we get to have more sumo old friend?

  • January 10-24

  • Hopefully its on BBCTV

  • Aren't the proverbs called: "Kotowaza"?

I too hope to be back in Japan next April, so we'll definitely have to meet up if possible - are you just visiting or going for an extended stay?

  • i'll be going just for a visit still but for a month this time..which is 4 times longer than my last visit haha..but meeting up sounds good..i owe you those glasses :)

    peace

  • This decade has to be called 'The Noughties'! :)

  • haha - I like that! :)

  • hey I am getting a ba degree in art, does the alt program care if my degree is in art or can I have a degree in anything and be considered for hire.

  • Nope - your degree can be in any subject - doesn't affect your chance of being hired for JET

  • yup, i second what myargonauts says - my degree is in graphic design and I have applied. good luck x

  • Jason we need some blog TV man......Get it going

  • yeah - been a while - I'll schedule one soon... :)

  • lol jason if u pause at 1:24 it looks like you were thinking something sinister :P

  • Okayama! I bet it's Okayama deshou. It has shinkansen, close to Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto, and half way between Kansai and Shimane. Am I right?

  • shhhh.... :)

  • My intention is to go to Japan and marry a Japanese woman. Cant i just get a spouse visa or something if i want to live and work there permanently?

  • I shall call you the Vloging master!

  • Is that my 2009 title - Master of the Vlog? hahaha :)

  • I dub the Master of the Vlog! Live long and prosper !

  • Do you need a new shirt for Christmas???

    v(^_^)v

  • no - i just need to wear something other than my UCSD hoodie - but it's my favorite piece of winter clothing

  • Good luck with the new job search! I really hope you get a position that suits you well. As for me, I still have two years till my degree is finished, so maybe in 2011 I'll see you in Japan lol.

  • Yay, many thanks Jason! It's something I had been wondering about for awhile...

And I'll definitely check out Hikosaemon. (hope I spelled that right...)

  • The university in Matsue has highspeed internet so I would assume other parts of Matsue would have decent internet too.

  • Work in a Eikaiwa... only if you're a masochist...

  • I think it would be hard for me to give up my US citizenship. At least, I say that now, at this point in my life, but who knows.... Maybe in the future I would at some point.

  • ...I think you meant the apple doesn't fall far from the tree lol.

  • right - that is the expression in America, but the Japanese have a similar expression which uses Monkeys instead.

  • haha - you are actually right -I was mixing my sayings... The Japanese saying is "Even Monkeys fall from trees" - I guess meaning that even someone with experience makes mistakes.

  • i really enjoy watching your videos keep em comin

  • thanks! One more to go in this series of response vids - most likely will post it Sunday, and then on to my Dogs and Demons vids

  • If people want to live in Japan for the rest of their lives, they don't need to give up citizenship. They just marry or work there for a long time and establish permanent residency. If ppl gave up their US citizenship, it would be difficult to go back and visit.
