  • where can i see the two-hour special??

  • @thewholeshit - unfortunately it is lost in history. Given up by Turner Broadcasting and placed in their archive somewhere. I made the special and don't have a copy myself.

    David Hoffman–filmmaker

  • @allinaday

thnks for the response, it is to bad :( seems like a really nice documentation..

    greetings

  • So the cars we see in Cuba in Godfather II are still there. Cool

  • Very cool, thanks for posting!

  • Cubans waste time fixing those cars, and time is money, but in Cuba there is no money, time is ALL you have...but you better not complain because your neighbor will rat you out! so watch out!

  • The cubans knows how to keep their cars rolllin because they got pride. My heart goes out to them.

  • i've heard cubans import cars from other south american nations. mexico is also prominent. american reconditioned cars or any cars are sold to cuba.

  • Here's the Cuban car maintenance deal.

Spare motors ? Boneyard tractor/chech bus or Russian truck, mostly diesels.

Shock absorber - brake fluids ? Veg cooking oil - doesn't last long but works.

Filters ? - oil - fuel - refitted old ones with rags and/or cardboard.

Tires ? Recaps - or re-drilled - welded bolt pattern adaptation when they come with another vehicle's rims.

Fan belt's ? Braided leather, mostly home made.

    Duct tape ? Priceless.

  • At least Cubans are free and have dignity, see... people living in the States are controlled by their evil corporations... Come join the 3 million Americans living on the streets, 150million people without jobs, and 1 of every 5 kids living in Poverty, we have millions nuclear heads to blast the world but we cannot offer jobs, security nor healthcare to our own citizens, we send kids to war, only to let them down when they comeback, everything right here at USA, come to live the "American Dream".

  • And here I'm bitching about a little rust on my 96 Crown Vic... We tend to forget just how lucky we are to live in a Free Country.

  • please post the rest of the documentary!

    i would really appreiciate it.

i love love love old cars!!!

thank alot in advance : )

  • @yourallbrainwashed dude its on net flicks!! the whole documentary. (o_0)

  • Again with the blame the embargo SHIT. How stupid can people be. USA is not only nation that makes cars idiots. The real embargo is the one communists have imposed on Cubans by not permitting any private property, normal bank accounts, nor the development of a market economy. They have slaved, ruined, and destroyed Cuba. It is a fact that Cubans, even if they had the money, can't own any post-1960 car unless directly granted by the state. USSR, China(during Mao), N. Korea, E.Ger, etc, the same.

  • Again with the blame the embargo SHIT. How stupid can people be. Hello, USA is not only nation that makes cars. The real embargo is the one communists have imposed on the Cuban people by not permitting any private property, normal bank accounts, nor the development of a free market economy. It is a fact that Cubans, even if they had the money, can't own any post-1960 car unless directly granted by the state, period. It was the same in the USSR, China (during Mao), E.Europe, North Korea, etc.

  • cuba is a wet dream for car collectors, like jay leno

  • I'm guessing they buy rebuild kits or OEM parts from Canadian manufacturers.

  • @aegisforex I saw a transmission manufactured in Romania in a mid 50s Chevy on another video. In those days, parts were interchangeable for many years. Most all parts from 55-57 GM cars were fully interchangeable. Pontiac, Olds, Cadillac all used the same transmission for many years. Economy of scale for aftermarket manufacturing definitely existed.

  • @MrStrictlyStock You answered my question that I left on another vid:

"Where would they get parts for such old American cars? Bear in mind their age and the US Embargo. Did they get "bootlegged" parts from the USSR and Eastern Bloc countries when there was still a USSR and an Eastern Bloc? Keep them rolling."

  • @rdsanchez1966 It is absolutely amazing the availability of reproduction parts for the cars of the 50s in the US. It doesn't sound at all unreasonable that most of them are currently available from Canada.

  • You can tell that the cabbie has already "made do" because he has a '58 Impala steering wheel on his '56 Bel Air. I wonder what they do for piston rings and such? Most foreign cars available in Cuba would have metric-measure parts.

  • @bulldogbarks55 It might have been an "upgrade." The 56 was a far superior model to the 1958. I would expect the 58 to have "died" long ago.

  • Cubans may be poor and living like like a prisoner but Cubans should at least be proud of their country. We don't hear news of suicide bombing, etnic cleansing, religious-related violence or some kindda honor killings. Communism is bad and oppressive for ordinary people, but better it is than the religion of Islam.

    History tells us.

Thumbs down only if you don't read history.

  • @wawapinoy religion of Islam has the same God as Christians... those bad things cant be blamed on religion, do you blame christianity for what happened in the crusades?... you should not believe everything that your corrupted coverment tells you in usa.

  • @wawapinoy the religions of Islam is not bad but ppl like AL-Qaeda who believe they are doing good for it is bad. They are perverting their own religion

  • @wawapinoy -- I doubt if you know the difference between Communism & Socialism. Funny how you complain about Cuba's government which you know precious little about, yet ignore your OWN government & the serial abuses, frauds, crimes, wars & betrayals committed in YOUR name. Unlike US, Cuba never invaded or attacked the US, waged terrorism, planned to assassinate President & top officials -- let alone imposed the monstrous fraud of Central Bank indebtness that now threatens the world's economy!

  • When are you going to post the complete 2 hours documentary?

  • What 1960 tv its these.its the thing more dumb that I listen here.Beside I don't understand why they don't see the colombia car that you say exist in Colombia,if they can to be in colombia all the time. However, not in cuba, because the low.

  • Not all its old in cuba. What are you talking about.

  • in cuba everything is old, a new tv set is from the 1960s. People of cuba are so nice.

  • they should make an American company to ship old American parts to them

  • Not necessarily- enough if they lift the embargo on Cuba! :)

  • @tadeh3 Why? they choose to live in a society that forces them to get by on what they have for parts. Its also not to hard to make your own.

  • @orbitofdoom16 i was thinking about preserving the older cars, its a terrible shame that they have to just leave them on the side of the road, they don't choose to live in that society, they are forced by there communist overseers

  • You should come for Colombia there´s too some vehicles very antique still running
