First of all, in the beginning when you first asked the question of the cause of corruption in governments, i knew it was corporations/donations to politicians. Second of all, that act being passed is total crap. It won't work. Either that, or if you wait a few months, a new act will come about providing a loophole to the former. Either that, or some way will be possible so that politicians become corrupted via corporations/donations. Basically put, corruption is inevitable.
"if your politician volunteers" i hope that everyone would point out if a politician doesn't volunteer, that everyone calls them out on it and voters would vote against them.. you know, the wording "volunteer" just makes me think that they were not at all serious about the bill in the first place. a majority of corruption
This is great, but what about people like Romney, Whitman, etc that throw millions of their own cash into the pot, if you limit donations, how do we compete with the rich?
The GLARING problem with that act is the word "volunteer". If you allow them to opt out then all you are doing it ensuring that the corrupt politicians will have more spending money over honest ones. The only way I see to fix the issue would be to abandon the philosophy that being able to give money to politicians is somehow related to free speech and simply have 100% publicly funded election, and at the same time bar any other groups from influencing elections i.e. RNC/DNC and the like.
@darksean99 good point you have there, but more than that, i think the glaring problem is that ppl aren't informed about this act. IF ppl did know about this act, who wud vote for the politician who doesn't sign up for the FENA?
@MrPoliticsGeek While I would like to believe that people wouldn't. Generally enough spin can misinform the general populous. With the amount of money that can flow though corrupt channels can in essence flood the ways the common people, who don't dig deeper than the surface, gather their information.
@MrPoliticsGeek If all your reading in spin on how the candidate is a great guy that you wanna have a beer with, and one minor caveat about him accepting perfectly legal contributions it isn't going to dissuade enough of the voting populous.

I can tell you just looking at Blagojevich, there had to be lots of corruption involved for him to even get elected Governor.

Lol, funny video. I live in Indiana, but right by the border of Illinois, so I've been hearing TONS of stuff about the Blagojevich trial.

You have Blagojevich's "evil level" over Hitler's. Your video is CORRUPT with silly accusations.
