  • i have a turtle and for about a year he hasnt grown at all!! please help me out im suuuper worried

  • what size tank do u keep him in cuz if it is a small tank he won't grow much but if it is big he should grow.If he is in a big tank and not growing then take him to the vet 2 see whats wrong. Sorry he isn't growing and if u need more help feel free to send me messages

  • oh! well he is in a 30 gallon tank i think...

but im gonna upgrade him to a 70 gallon condo :P

  • how old is he here?

  • I would say judging by the size it is about 6-8 months, but im no expert.

  • judocraft, thsocom i think is wrong.i think that some turtles stay small.i think one is the musk turtle. because when they r juvinile they only get 2 to 3 inches.

  • well your kinda right there but juvinile means under 1 year old and musk turtles grow to about 4 to 5 inches

  • hello turtle ppl....i have a question....i have to transport my baby (4month old) turtles home for xmas hols...the journey takes 3hrs..can anyone recommend or give me some advice on the safest easiest and cheapest way to do this...eg a small box or a small box with a hot water bottle? i will be travelling by car

  • you put him in a lunch box..square.

  • can someone recremend a turtle type for me that is a good pet easy to care for likes to swim and stays small?

  • none of them stay small. best bet of a smaller turtle is a mud or musk. not the cutest of the bunch but they are smaller than most. map turtles dont get as big, if you end up with a male map your lookin at 4-6 inches i'd say, 6-8 for a female.. its hard to say, its the luck of the draw on how big they get. nothing you can do about it. it could be anywhere between 4-10 inches for the better looking turtles. and if your really unlucky.. it can get to 12.. good luck! lol

  • The smallest out there is a box turtle, but it's very hard to take care of.

  • how big do they get?

  • around 8-12 inches

  • up to 8 inhes for male and up to 13 female

  • does any one know if the black marks under the turtles shell ever fades away or dissappears? o yh by the i got a Yellow bellied slider...just wondering if her four dots will ever go away.

  • ok thanks. i just got my turtle. hes adorable and he has a lot of rocks. i kindda made a beach area for the0 were it gets shallower and then deeper

  • would i need rocks at the bottom of my tank for my turtle or will it be ok without rocks.thanks

  • They love rocks and shells! They are only like $3.00 at Wal-Mart.

  • can yellow bellied sliders and red eared sliders mate?

  • i don't know man, thats the same thing i am wondering if you find out tell me, thanks

  • Yeah they can.

  • haha mine does the same thing but i have to hold the food or it wont eat...come and check out my turtle take down a tadpole its pretty sick

  • Hmm nowhere near enough space or water in there.

  • for my YSB terrapin's tank i got him a heater, uv light unit, heat lamp, and filter - just wondering if i would need the heat lamp since i got a heater which stays on 24hr so the water is always warm

  • You don't really need a heater for the basking area, just a normal household spot light provides enough heat and also the extra uva light rays that your light unit (im guessing you mean the long tube light) won't provide, it just won't last as long. BUT, they're like £5/£10 cheaper, so...

  • i dont have the long uv tube but i do have a clamp lamp which has a uv bulb, it says 5% uvb and 30% uva. my YBS has been growing quiet rapidly and yesterday i just realised that the hexagon shapes on his shell are moving away from each other and the border between the hexagon shapes on the shell are widening. is this how its suppose to be - how they grow?

  • o sick mine dont eat the food thats on the ground i have to hold the food and then he climbs out check my videos so you can see what im talkin about

  • how big do they get b4 they stop growin?

  • tht land bit should be stuck to the tank

  • Have you got the correct temps in your tank and basking area? Sounds like your turt has a bad case of build up. Also what are your water parameters? You need to keep your nitrates stable or it could end up smelly!

  • WHATS THE CORRECT TEMP IS IT BAD IF ITS TO HIGH sorry 4 caps

  • Water temp - 78

    basking area - 88

    =)

  • you know the black markings found under the yellow bellied sliders tummy, do they ever disappear or fade?

  • They're markings, they can change over time but generally not. How old is your turtle?

  • less than a year old. not exactly sure how many months though

  • @kajirobert u have to keep your tank at around 27° Celcius(idk in fahrenthing) , have a uva/uvb light on it all the time, have a basking area and a good filter, that's all i can suggest you :)

  • o wooooow that water should be twice he shell lenght in depth, they love to swim
