  • tree one is cooler

  • Bellissimo!

  • VERY NICE IDEAS

  • Awesome! If I were a sound manager I would pick this one for one of my movies.

  • thumbs up if you thought someone sent you a message on facebook at 1:14

  • Im not getting it. 2 bad. Or not.

  • I wonder how long did the entire process take?

  • Imaginatively wonderful, different & Fun to watch - thank you, thank you.

  • Cosa usi per registrare??

Piace anche a me sperimentare e sono molto curioso...... ;)

    Bravo!

  • i have watched and commented on quite a few of your videos. I am going to be one of the greatest animation and graphics producers in the world, bank on it. When I am, I am going to get you to do the music. Genius, watch out for my name, you'll be hearing from me.

  • very cool

  • your music is soo peacefull..wow. i want to beach it up now :) do you make cd's???

  • @skinnylilwitch6 Thanks, this track is available for free download on my Bandcamp page, I can't post links in comments but if you google Diego Stocco Bandcamp you'll find it.

  • The world is truly your instrument. You and nature are a wonderful couple.

  • though it's pretty unnoticeable unless you listen close, i love the bass sounds. Must've been hard to find those, huh? :)

  • MIND. BLOWN.

  • O_O .....I love you........ :)

  • Your my new inspiration as a sound designer.

  • DUDE ! WHERE CAN I GET YOUR CD ?

  • i'm speechless.

  • dude you inspire me more so than any musician i have ever come across....beautiful!

  • you are an inspiration for creativity. Love that you really get into what you are creating too!

  • Another very cool one Diego.

  • you're a genius... i can't say that often enough :O

  • Do you have any instructional texts or tutorials on how to build your own contact mics like the ones you are using on your fingers to play the wet sand on the beach? If not, could you recommend some good resources to check out?

  • MAN! ... now .. something really good...

YOU... you should be a partner of "Mystery Guitar man!" : DD i mean it!

  • Dear Mr. Stocco, Your pieces are too short. Much too short. Please continue to create. But lengthen your creations. Please. Thank you.

  • Hi! Really like the ide working with sand, what is it you put into the glass to record the sound? a trigger?

  • I wish this was longer!

    so much longer!

  • Ciao Diego. Sei un grande, continua cosi!

  • i love u

  • I love your videos!

One curious thing: I am a physicist and there is actual research on sand dune sounds! Although I do not work with this, I can tell you that it is awesome. They make models for the sand falling in a dune, the effect of the wind, and with this they can study a dune by the sound the wind make when it pass.

Great work you have done. Congrats! Hermeto Pascoal would be proud! (he is a brazilian composer who makes music from anything... anything!)

  • I love this song... it needs to be way longer :c

  • Need more ;( Love the second half.

  • beautiful work dude!!!

world need more artist like you than soldiers!!

  • I can only imagine how many mics you must go through :P

but this is amazing, and so's the rest of your music.

    *inspired* ;D

  • this sand one is my fave so far...

  • Too short! D:

I prefer quality over length though and you certainly did that :D

  • How are you getting those plucky melodic tones?

  • @Argitoth What you see me playing on the keyboard are tonal frequencies I extracted from the sand, mapped in a sampler as a multi-velocity program.

    No additional sounds added.

Once inside the sampler I was able to extend the playable range and play chords and melodic parts.

  • @DSSessionVideos How were you able to extract the tones?

  • amazing i love your videos! keep on making music :)

  • This actually doesn't seem to be difficult to do. Pretty nice, but I like Bassoforte better :D

But kudos for being original, which you don't see often. Cheers from the Netherlands!

  • @JanLeonard91 I agree with you, what I'm playing is not that difficult, but that wasn't the idea. The core idea here is to use sand as the main element and create the most out of it in a musical way. Glad you liked Bassoforte : )

  • now if you made music from the ocean id eat my hat. all of it.

  • Very Good,

  • Muy bueno!!!

  • Sweet heaven! I knew you were famos dude! had to be! OMNISPHERE sound designer...!

  • Diego I have some UKKO piezo mics! you are giving me too many ideas LOL copy cats here they come...!

    Great stuff

  • wow make a cd i will buy it

  • man that nis awsome

  • Amazing stuff--Please don't think i'm arrogant for suggesting that you put some of those waves crashing in the track...or a new track with waves--I think we all know you can!

  • dude....

    you cool.... :D

  • hiiiii nice

  • Can you post a tab so I can play this on my sand? ;)

  • So cool! You should tottaly be famous or somthing! You make music with trees, plants, sand, everything! Now we can stop playing intersments and play nature!

  • Your music is amazing, your techniques are complete innovator, very artistic and literally with a natural sound. Congratulations you're going on the right direction.

  • WOW man WOW am falling in love with your things..

  • love it!! wow...

  • Your stuff is amazing. Making music from normal everyday things. But what I really like about this is that the music you get from sand sounds a lot like the kind of music you hear from tropical places! God is amazing. He put the music in our hearts and in everything around us!

  • this relaxes me even more than death metal...congratz

  • I'm requesting for a longer version :D

  • I had a moment of elevation there.

  • Good show, man, I love your innovation. I'm kind of surprised you didn't use the squeak dry sand makes when you drag your feet through it!

  • i wish i had those techs, I do that all the time when I'm procrastinating

  • I really like what he is doing

  • insipational!!...I've just bought "Handmade Electronic Music" by Nicolas Collins and am just starting out experimenting : -)

  • Excellently! Beautiful sound & video.

  • Excellently!

  • constantly impressed.

  • great :)

  • I really think that you are a genius, man!

  • Beautiful

  • bella anche questa. BjM

  • la gente non sta bene...

    grande ideaaaaa

  • Your tone is too grainy man...

  • @abaurre3 hahahaha

  • @abaurre3 Don't you think that's the point??

Listen to the sound and feel that's there, instead of trying to insert your own.

  • @aylera Lol, It was a joke, get it? Sand... grainy... lul.

  • Artist indeed !!!

  • GRACIAS !!!

  • That's really cool. I just wish it was Longer

  • Also, can I say that is this techincally sound "grain" ?

  • Seriously, the amount of originality, pure phenomenal and outstanding work you've done is incredible! God has sent the messiah that can create sparkling gems from sand.

  • Really good man, this is awesome

  • I think these pieces should be labeled "textures from..." or "soundscapes from..." or "rhythms from..." not music from. I mean we can argue the difference between the four but I really don't care to so please don't debate what "music" is. I mean if he said "punk rock" from sand no one would defend this as experimental punk rock. It's not experimental music, it's experimental INSTRUMENTS. and yes, i wrote the same comment on another one of his videos. the tree one rocks.

  • Agreed.

  • true +1

  • Artist!

  • very cool dude

  • Wow. I found this song heart warming.

    I love it. =]

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • Where can I find a CD? This stuff is so inspiring!

  • I think he should work with Bjork...she's into creating sounds out of things. they could do wonders together.

  • awesome!

  • If there was people on that beach, I would like to know what they thought bout him! :D haha

  • eh its nothing new to the world of music honestly.

  • That's a very ecclesiastic statement, fellow.

  • @roninbonin1 he never claimed it was

  • wow, i love the background!

  • wow he`s a freekin genius goes around playing sand, trees, i wonder if he can play zippidy do da out of his ass.

  • Fucker!

  • I could send this up so good

  • tu sei un genio!!!!!

  • @jojojaykay

    hha' :)

  • what an amazing way to use mother earth and technology to create your window to your soul

  • ...quello che fai mi lascia a bocca aperta!!! grande Diego!

  • This guy is absolutely incredible! Thanks so much for posting, along with the extensive notes:

"... The entire track is created only out of tuned sand tones. No additional sounds or waveforms.

I emphasized the inner notes of the sand grains and mapped them on a sampler as a series of instruments."

  • I posted the above comment which is now attributed to "CommentsSurvey." What is going on? Hear more at diegostocco (dot) com. Incredible! Wonderful! Beautiful!
