I wish! I haven't had much luck finding duplicates of pre-war Duke, other than Take the A Train & The Mooche. I'll keep you in mind if I *do* find a duplicate of Harlem Air Shaft, though!

"Reminiscing In Tempo" was an elegy to Ellington's mother, who died in 1935.

@SwingMan1937 Its hard to believe, listening to these sides, that they were panned by critics on release- no one seemed to understand the extended format idea, and even John Hammond said it was "Gutless"!. Ellington stopped writing for a year after his Mother died, virtually gave up the band, and this work was his first, and probably his most heartfelt of all, and to have his elegy rubbished like that must have been a devastating blow. Any lesser person would have just given up. Lucky for us,eh?
