  • I'm pretty sure he is talking about Esplanade Street not Esplanade mall in Kenner! In case you didn't know..

  • Love it !!!!!!!!! Still great today !!!!!!

  • yeah, sour note, though. i had to take my sis-in-law to tulane... some kinda o.d. lived in new iberia at the time, and she vehemently refused treatment. so i talked her into getting in the car, and we'd go see mardi gras. 90 miles later and she's unconscious. but i managed to get her to the hospital in time. that's 10 years gone by. now she has quit smoking, drinking, drugs, and hanging with that sort of .........

  • yeah, some of it shot in metarie, and some in that 4 lane tree lined blvd. can't remember the name, coming up from patterson.

  • @jacklazzell patterson?? West Esplanade in Kenner was used and Esplanade mall. Also right outside of ponchatoula strawberry festival area.

  • @blue66shelby Hi, the video was about "Greater" New Orleans area. But above that (not counting the Nemo scenes) a lot of the film was shot in New Orleans.

  • I saw this group around 1980. They opened for Molly Hatchet. I always liked this song. Thanks for posting it.

  • ths song is beautiful !!! i love the video too

  • I love this song but love it better when it is sang by Travis Thibadeaux... We actually get all groupie like when he does his version. Mean no disrespect to Leroux just showing there are different versions

  • @allursia1 LeRoux did it first because it's their song. LeRoux's version is the definitive version to me and many, many others. If you like other people's versions, that's okay. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla.

  • Jambalaya a- crawfish pie and a-. file' gumbo, goodbye joe, me gotta go down on the bayou. Time to visit Vieux Carre'.

  • ..this is a great and beautiful song...i think their best

  • I am a New Orleans lady

Born and raised in New Orleans.

Great song, I like the video even if some parts were not all of the city doesn't matter

    Great job

  • Actually, this song was written about the New Orleans Prostitutes from Bourbon Street to Esplanade. Them Creole Babies, Thin and Brown and Down Right Lazy... Prostitutes are a Lazy Lay and easy for the Bucks. LOL!

  • A great song, although, when they sing "from Bourbon Street to Esplanade... you are showing photos of Esplanade Avenue that runs in Metairie and Kenner and I believe you had shown the Esplanade Mall as well in one photo. That is incorrect... as the Esplanade they are singing about is Bourbon Street that connects to Esplanade at the end of Bourbon Street and that Esplanade has nothing to do with the one in Metairie and Kenner. I lived there for over 30 years previous to Hurricane Katrina.

  • I know, but at the time my wife was working at Esplanade Mall and I'd thought I'd take a nod at other "famous" Esplanades in the Greater New Orleans area.

The first one is a pic from Esplanade Street in the quarter, if I remember correctly not to far from where ruby red's use to be.

The rest are from the Esplanade mall and street of West Esplanade just to show other Esplanades in the area.

  • You remember Ruby Reds! I used to live in the French Quarter back in the early 80's and I'd eat there all the time. Great Burgers with huge amounts of chedder cheese. Oh and just thow the peanut shells on the floor. I miss those days... LOL!

  • sure do....had family who use to work/manage there. They were the originators of the "thrown" peanut shells on the floor. They did this way before O' Henry's ever did.

  • Why did Ruby Reds go out of business, was it because of the Poker (gambling) games that used to take place after the place would close at night? I knew the guy with the crutches, that was the grill cook there... we were roommates for a short time. Is there any connection between the former Ruby Reds and Ruby Tuesdays?

  • don'y know, was very young when tghey closed. The have no affiliate with Ruby Tuesdays, but more of one with O' Henry's if I remember correctly

  • I wasn't aware Ruby Red's closed, that really bites. My dad used to take me there when I was a little kid to dance to the jukebox and my brother had his first grill job there. Damn I miss home.

  • Its amazing how us Cajuns can leave home but we always come back. No other place in the world like south Louisiana. Laissez Les Bon Temps Roullez. sha!

  • As a life long Texan, it's great to see pride like yours for your state. Good people, good food, what else is there?

  • What else is there? Great friends like you just across the border who drive over and allow us to share our Joi de Vie (joy of life) with you. As soon as the weather warms a little my wife and I will be in San Antone on the river walk listening to Mariachies (Sp?) and eating real Mexican food!

  • @THB79 forgot great music.

  • @angelheaven101 D'oh!!!!! I stand corrected!!!!!!!!

  • @aorphia Great burgers. Also lived there in 80-81 worked down the street at the Dream Palace. The Radiators used to play there on some weekends. Port of Call had some great food too.

  • Never knew any New Orleans Ladies but Always loved the song. I bought the album after hearing the song from a friend. still loving the great harmony of it......

  • too pefect....for the lovely town that I love...and will be moving back very shortly...yipee!

  • They're not lazy, they just know how to take it easy. I love New Orleans and will be there in 2 wks for a 4-day weekend!!!!! I go every year and wouldn't choose any other place to spend my hard earned money.

  • not all of us are down right lazy...ha

  • Absolutely beautiful rendition of a classic.

The very first time I heard N.O. Ladies I feel in love with it.

I was the Capitlol Records regional promo rep out of Atlanta at the time. We almost broke the record nationally, but it was a huge song from DC to Miami and all points south..

I will never forget a night in Little Rock, LeRoux was co-headlineing with the Cars and both bands and crews met SWEET SWEET CONNIE..

    George Luthin

  • OMG how the years rolled back with the words of this song. They sashayed by...I remember being gripped by the idea of being able to "sashay". Gorgeous song great memories. Thank you Gazork!

  • You're welcome, Dawn. Glad you liked it! Yes, this is a real memory-jerker. One of those songs that people would remember, if only it were played on the radio anymore!

  • lol, me too, I thought that was the coolest thing sashayed. what great memories

  • Is there a word better than favorite for some reason I've loved this since I was a little girl.

    Desiree Dawn songwryter

    Oxford Mississippi

  • we have terrible snow storms but you guys have wicked bad storms here in the south. no wonder you guys love them hurricane drinks you need them to get through the storms. but i love you guys for lsu

  • Tonight, I was thinking of my friend who drove me to the LeRoux concert. He was 15 years old and it was the last night I saw him. He was killed shortly after in an automobile accident. I will never forget him because he taught me so much about faith in his few years. And it's hard to believe, but it's been 30 years. Jadealana29, I came to cry with the song, and instead rejoiced at your post!

  • I appreciate the fact that the video shows ladies like you'd pass on the street any old day of the week and celebrates their beauty.

  • Still a great song, I love it...born and raised in New Orleans. No place like it before hurricane Katrina. Now it will never be the same again. May something new through the years come from it.

  • Thank you, beautifully done, it is one of my favorites.

  • Actually it has been - check out Bayou-Degradable by LeRoux. I've got an autographed copy my mom got when she saw the last in NO. This has been several years ago, tho. I hear the bassist Leon Medica lives somewhere north of Nashville. I met his son a couple of years ago. Great band - nobody sounds like these cats! Le bon temps roulet!

  • WOW 24 years later; The song it's home...23 years in the Air Force and I still have my New Orleans baby...

    H

  • We are Nemo.

  • I still have the my album and I play it when I can. I love this song it is the greatest. I wish I could see them in concert.

  • Lived here my whole life, love it here, love the song as well.

  • My wife and I just got back from Vegas where we got married. We live in Texas, and our first vacation was in New Orleans. New Orleans is a thousand times better than Vegas. The people are so much friendlier. This is a woonderful song, and reminds us that we need to return to "Nawlins" when we have the money to go on vacation.

  • I LOVE this video! I never heard the song before moving to the south from California 9 years ago. My girlfriend turned me on to it, we saw this video for the first time together about a year ago and loved it from the very first time. We even try to skip along with the girls at the end of the video holding hands! we just laugh and laugh! Now whenever I hear this song on the radio, all I can see are the 2 girls skipping. I have to see this video at least once a month. THANKS FOR POSTING IT!

  • This one makes me lonesome. I really miss Louisiana. I don't know what they are paying for.

  • i got this album in a bargain bin in the mid seventies. it fast became one of my all time favorites. It drove my rocker husband insane i played it so many times.

  • Lived there, loved it, used to sit by the Intercontinental Hotel during lunch hour to watch the New Awlins ladies go by.

  • 5 stars for this video...and for Those special N'awlins Ladies too.

  • ya know, i remember this song when i was just a kid in jr high school, and it 's just as magical now as it was then..... I'll never forget it!!!!

  • song is also sung by wayne toups aka cocaine wayne for those who live in louisiana and know who he is. great singer and performer just like every other musician he has a drug problem. anyways getting to the point he sings this song in french, and makes its sound ten times as good.
