  • I have only ever used LME in my homebrews...i love the idea of all grain but it seems like a chemistry lesson watching this...i take it the temps are critical for correct enzyme action and max malt production...great videos...its definitely not for the faint hearted but am told the beer is much better than using just LME...

  • apparently you can make dog treats from the spent grain, you were asking if you could do something with them.

  • hey. your initial batch of strike water that you mixed with the grain to get a temp of 153 - how many gallons were in that initial batch of strike water?

  • @glenyoder 1.3 Qts. per pound of grain.

  • Chris - FYI - your "All Grain Home Brewing (4 of 8)" as stopped working.

  • "Theperrynator" you are an idiot.

  • 18 degrees above strike temp has worked perfect for me every time.

  • this doesnt work even if I turn HD off...

  • I WAS WONDERING HOW MUCH WATER DID YOU START OFF WITH TO BOIL... SORRY VIDEO WASNT WORKING COULDNT SEE

  • @ThePookie82 Don't do that.

  • vid 4 still not working

  • Yeah, I have the same problem, vid 4 won't load. Please fix, these are very helpful, great series.

  • How come video 4 (this one) says An Error Occurred and won't load? Please fix, these are great instructional videos.

  • Actually he's less precise than a lot of ppl...

  • This guy is too precise. People make perfectly fine beer without half of this hassle.

  • There is no such thing as too precise when it comes to"Brewing YOUR OWN Beer." A "Beer," is being brewed that in the end will be comsumed by the brewer and probably some of his family members and friends. If the "Brewer" is precise when he brews a batch of "Beer" he can be precise in determining whether or not the result he was spending his hard earned time and money to accomplish was acceived. Now I know you might be thinking "WTH it's just a beer! --See you in Part 5:)

  • maybe he like a consistent end product...

  • Obviously he loves beer more than you.

  • I haven't found a beer that i haven't really liked yet and to me, it all has the same basic taste with only subtle variations, so it's probably not too necessary to go through all these steps.

  • if that's the way he wants to brew, let him. i dont think being "too precise" is a bad thing.

  • I get

An error occurred, please try again later.

Been like this for few day now...

    anyone else gets this?

  • turn off HQ, got rid of the error for me.

  • Yeah i was getting that also. But i just tried a different computer a few days later and it worked.

  • i use a keg for a kettle . I make 10 gallons per batch. why make 5 gollons when you make 10 gallons.

  • Hey Chris, what was the 5.2 powder you added? Was that to change ph?

  • Yes, it's a phosphoric acid-based (IIRC) buffer to stabilize the mash pH. At the right dosage it will correct a mash pH of anywhere from about 4.8-6 to 5.2 (at mash temps).

  • Is your boil pot aluminum?

  • I was wondering what was the make and model of temperature gauge Chris was using? Also does he recommend others to buy it?

  • What's the water to grain ratio of the strike water?

  • hi nice vid.

um quick question why would you stop the starch conversion instead of just letting it all convert?

  • Longer mash times work, but the final gravity will be lower than intended..causing a dryer finish...which is likely not wanted for chris' batch on this video. So, the mash time is specific to the beer style(grains used).

  • how big is your mash tun

  • Nowhere near as big as your vagina :)

  • Jesus was a homebrewer. No need for vulgarity. You're supposed to be a Christian?

  • Hey Chris, nice vids! Yeah I'm new to AG and have been using my stove burner for heat and I want to switch to the more beefier stove like you use. My question; is that a "turkey frying stove rig" or what? Also, it looks kind of top heavy with all that wort weight, wot's uh the deal?

  • Is that fugazi?

  • you would know if you listened to them

  • Mt Hood Hops Yeah! Wyeast Yeast Yeah! Hail to thee from Hood River Yeah! Full Sail is good but Double Mountain is better Yeah

  • Yeah! :)
