And yes there is hypocrisy. However hypocrisy comes not from Russia but from the West since it was the West which recognized illegal secession of Kosovo from Serbia FIRST. Russia only followed the precedent set by the West. Abkhazia and South Ossetia could possibly be compared with Kosovo.

I actually believe the war in Chenchenya was a civil war, like ours, as I hinted at in my remark about Georgia's mistake, but actually Ostessia was a part of Georgia, so that was also a civil war. Russia is just as hypocritical as everyone is at times. Know what I mean Jean: as in Putin giving Russian citizenship to Ossetains etc.

It was Kosovo secession, encouraged by the West, FIRST and Russia only followed with Abkhasia. But even that is not 100% the same since even after Kosovo "independence" Russia still didn't recognize Abkhazia immediately. But Georgia understood that as a sign of weakness and started the war to retake the provinces...

Yes, Kosovo, IMHO was. Personally, I don't believe Kosovo should have been recognized as a nation. However, Putin also is a politician, and you know how politicians sometimes are, and politicians are similar to each other for various reasons such as wishing to remain in control and office. It seems that some Western nations believed that in order to end the fighting in Serbia and Kosovo that the only way to do so would be to recognize the mainly Albanian Kosovo region as an idependent entity.

I don't know what is your country. I visited Georgia many times, and I could not get in Tzkinvali because of drunk Russian soldiers did not let me in the city. I was very surprised of a couple of events. Especially, Georgians generous attitudes. I must tell you many Ossetians and Georgians have very good relations with each other outside of South Ossetia. I met quiet many Ossetians with Georgians dining and drinking at restaurants and birthday parties. Whats the matter with people in Ossetia?
