wanna bet the 60 gb is the worst. mine got YLOD yesterday and its completely ventilated and dust free. its a recognised fault with that model, and its a £150 charge for a refurbished model out of warranty. and thats only if you kept the reciept. hope this helped.

UPDATE: called sony very helpful customer service replacing my 5 month out of warranty ps3 free of charge with a refurbished one. No questions asked, i just give the old 1 to the courier when it comes in a couple of days, and he gives me the new 1. if it happens to you dont worry at all, just call sony.

just rang the UK line, and they were happy to help - no problems with new ps3 so far - so all is good lol. You could try ringing again to get a different person. maybe then you wont have to pay for the repalcement.

You DONT need the receipt to get an exchange...aslong as your willing to pay £145, they will replace it no problem...and to say the 60gb version is the worst, you obviously know fook all...all versions of the PS3 can get the YLOD because all versions have identical motherboards

Microsoft gave me a new one when that happen to my 360 but i sold my 360 and went n got me a 80gb playstation hopefully that does not happen to my ps3 n if it does i hope there is a way to fix it oh n i wish i would have know about the 160gb before i went n bought me the 80gb is all good thow i ma just wait for the ps4 i guess i read it wont come out till 2010

dont worry dude, many PS3 versions will come, I doubt a PS4 in 2010 tho. The PS3 was made to last at least 10 years, dont forget of the potencial of the PS3 when the programers start understanding the software.

LMao why do you turn it on from the back, I hope u don`t turn it off that way, You Can Mess up your ps3 by doing that, But to be able to do the controller way u have to have the red light on, meaning you can`t turn it off from back only the front, and u can also turn off ur ps3 with the controller just hold down PS button and go 2 turn off system!!

red means theres power but not on yet. green means completely on. the switch from the back just gives the power to the ps3. the contorller turns it on. or u can just touch the button. notice "TOUCH" not press :P ps3 ftw
