Our holy saviour, Jesus sent me here! after he told me heaven didn't exist and said it would numb the pain..... turns out he was right. Thankyou Jesus
This song sounds reminds me of another non-album track, 'So Far Around the Bend.' It seems that the National have a completely different sound hidden somewhere that they're not willing to release in a full-length album, even though I actually like that sound over the one they've explored so far (or just as much). Hopefully, their next album will be more like it.

another boring song from a boring band. every time i listen to this song i just want to kill myself thinking about how this is what kids today consider good music. whenever it comes up on my ipod or on one of my mixes and especially when it was played for the first dance at my wedding i could only just roll my eyes.
@kenneld If you didnt like it, why the fuck would you play at your wedding....its your fucking wedding. you paid for it, if you wanted to play fucking "Baby got Back" you could of....shit dude.
One of the greatest bands of our generation...this song is so brutally honest and haunting, yet absolutely beautiful all the while...The composition reminds me a bit of the Sufjan Stevens tune "Flint"...He's a close friend of the band so perhaps he influenced this recording some...This band continues to amaze...
Wait what is all this shit about Jesus

"Wanting not to want you won't make it so." Pure brilliance from Matt. Could have been the soundtrack to a few breakups I've experienced.

Gotta love how even the songs that don't make the album kick the ass of most any other band's best songs.

Amazing song! Although sad, it has an eerily soothing quality to it.
