The thing i like most about dereks how well he clashes with Kollias. If you play death metal or anthing along those lines... Youd Be an idiot not to pick up both Kollia's Instructional set and Derek's respectivly. There both awsome and the same genre but so Diffrent.

In all seriousness, he can do nice lots of fast accurate 16ths but can he split them up and play syncopated double bass??

Theres a challenge for you derek come up with some seriously cool syncopated double bass at those sorts of speeds, THAT is difficult and will truly set you apart from most of the other drummers out there, because right now with your style you could be anybody!

No I understand that, all I am saying is that there are 1001 drummers in the world that can play exactly the same things at exactly the same speed as derek, what derek is missing in his playing is something that makes him original as a drummer, whether thats a particular kit setup/sound, or whether its particular chops it doesnt matter, what matters is that right now, if I were to listen to him and a bunch of other metal drummers I couldnt tell which one was derek

haha heres a good way to do what you're saying....well not really. if you're using kick triggers, set the sensitivity way low and play straight 16ths on the kicks. some of it the triggers will pick up and some wont be triggered. only...its hard to control, and it is completely pointless....haha im just being retarded, ive done it before though
