  • so funny

  • its hancock fault...poor missile,i mean whale.

  • what are cows?

  • BOOM

  • I'm in love with Martin Freeman

  • Poor sperm whale XD

  • So they have to reach up that far before activating it?

Well... how is this supposed to fight a Forerunner battlegroup, which engages at multi-AU ranges? Hell, the Ancients could beat that w/phase cloak.

  • @HaloPokemon5Master I have no clue what you're trying to say in your first sentence. As for the rest, I should remind you that the Hitchhiker's Guide isn't set in the Halo universe.

  • I can attest that I know why the bowl of petunias thought "Oh no, not again", and I certainly do know more about the nature of the universe, though I'm still not quite certain whether I know more about the universe because I know what the bowl of petunias thought, or if I know what the bowl of petunias thought because I know more about the nature of the universe.

  • Zaphod for President. Oh, wait... The election's over... :c

  • What does Arthur say at 0:14 ?

  • @MrBranchFreeman Consarn it all.

  • @mr88suburban hehe thanks!

  • @MrBranchFreeman

    @mr88suburban

Arthur says "Oh, sod it all" at 0:14.

    It's a British thing.

  • Oh no, not again.

  • .______________________________.

Ahhh! Woooh! What's happening? Who am I? Why am I here? What's my purpose in life? What do I mean by who am I? Okay okay, calm down calm down get a grip now. Ooh, this is an interesting sensation.

  • What is it? Its a sort of tingling in my... well I suppose I better start finding names for things. Lets call it a... tail! Yeah! Tail! And hey, what's this roaring sound, whooshing past what I'm suddenly gonna call my head? Wind! Is that a good name? It'll do. Yeah, this is really exciting. I'm dizzy with anticipation! Or is it the wind? There's an awful lot of that now isn't it?

  • And what's this thing coming toward me very fast? So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like 'Ow', 'Ownge', 'Round', 'Ground'! That's it! Ground! Ha! I wonder if it'll be friends with me? Hello Ground!

  • poor agrajag....

  • I can watch 2:11 over and over and over again!

  • I love the whale's thoughts xD

  • The sperm whale was voiced by the same actor as Wheatley from Portal 2.

    Your mind is now blown.

  • @TheUnamazing actually the whale is voiced by bill bailey, not stephen merchant

  • @TheUnamazing

I can't find a confirmation for this anywhere. Mind showing me where you found this out?

  • @TheUnamazing

Also, are you sure you aren't mixing up Stephen Merchant and Stephen Fry?

  • I love how the whale's british lol

  • Zaphod doesn't have enough heads or arms.

  • @nikanj He has them, their just hidden.

  • The bowl of petunias is, in fact, a reincarnated life-form, which was previously: a housefly, and then a rabbit, and then a housefly again.

It was also a newt, a fish which Arthur caught, and a cow, slaughtered for meat, of which a certain fillet Arthur ate among other things.

I could say it makes sense in context.

Luckily though, it most definitely almost doesn't.

  • his second head is under his chin and his third arm pops out of his chest every once and a while.

  • Thats it - GROUND ... poooowwwww

  • This is terrible! Magrathea is supposed to be a desert planet! And where's Zaphod's second head? Or third arm? And WHAT is with that ship? Its just an orb.

  • @name887 deserts don't have to be hot and sandy or rocky, they can also be cold and icy.

  • @name887 he tucks the head away in his shirt, and it pops out everynow and then, and his third arm is only seen once during the film, but I don't know why it's not a desert or why the ship is weird

  • @dilbertismyrealname lol yeah I watched the movie a couple days after seeing this. It was good, but the books and radio series are the best.

  • Misser Beel Bailey!!!

  • @ b21492010 indeed the guys name in question is Agrajag...i think anyways when arthur reaches his cathedral of hate he tells him about all the times he killed him last time was at a place called stavromula beta where Arthur ducks to avoid a shot fired by an assassin, which then hits Agrajag instead. Arthur, never having been to Stavromula Beta, has no idea what Agrajag is talking about, and Agrajag realises that he's brought Arthur to the Cathedral too early. He tries to kill Arthur anyway

  • surprisingly the poor quality makes this look better. lol

  • @gaoutlaw it tells you in the third book. There's a creature that is reincarnated every time it dies. It dies hundreds of times and, improbably, Arthur has killed him every time somehow. Obviously, he gets quite ticked off at Arthur. This time, he had died and was waiting in limbo. He was pulled into existence as a bowl of petunias and killed by, again, Arthur. Hence, "oh no not again".

  • I will never sleep at night until I know why the bowl of petunias thought that.

  • my god... that actor cannot play Ford Prefect.

  • What's this big flat round thing coming toward me? It needs a wide sound like ow... ound ... round... Ground! Yes ground that's a magnificent name! I wonder if it will be friends with me? Hello ground!

  • @CodyWz splat*

  • @CodyWz BOOM

  • BILL BAAIAIAIIIIIAIAIAIAIAIAILLLLLEEIEIEIEEEYYYYY

  • Is it just me or does the whale have the voice of the narator in milo and odis??

  • somebody just tell me why the petunias said that!

  • five people hit the ground.

  • hitchhiking's good, towels are good too!

  • Face face face

  • which movie is this?

  • @akubai1234

    Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy

  • Please join National Towel Day in remembrance in douglas adams on Facebook it is on the 25th of may let remember where our towels are

  • Who understands why the bowl of petunias says oh no not again (I know but do you) ;)

  • This my fave part in the book!! I havent got to the part where it tells you why the bowl of petunias thought that. It is supposed to be in the third book which is where I am.

  • "I wonder if it will be friends with me!"

    *CRASH*

  • i love this part hahahaha

  • What is normal? What is home? Whats a cow!

    Hilarious everytime.

  • if you've never read the books. the bowl of flowerd tries to kill arthur in another life

  • @CHILD99OF99EVIL Yeah just tell people, pfft!

  • Hello ground.

  • "what's normal?"

    "what's home?"

    What are cows?"

    cracks me up every time

  • you find out why the putuniers thought that in one of the books

SPOILER!!! its aragagag somthing that whenever its reincarnated it gets killed by an unwitting arther dent

  • @JacobKind AGRAJAG!!! Are all we HHGG fans dislexic?

  • @bimmjim hey come on. I read the book 5 years ago frankly Im suprised I could remember that!

  • @JacobKind I admit it; I am a Douglas Adams fanatic. I own all his books and have read some of them 5 times. Once I sat on a chair in the forest and read “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” from cover to cover out loud to some squirrels. It took me three days. Also I have the various TV versions and movies of HHGG on tape or disc. If you want some really obscure DA trivia. What is the meaning of the story about the puddle in the road.

  • @bimmjim do you know why in the ultimate hitchhikers guide to the universe(all of the series in one might be wrong name) when arthur is back on earth for the first time when he does the scrabble letters he gets the equation 6*9=42, when it is actually 54?

  • @eatmeimsteak I think it is because the Golgafrinchens, by arriving on Earth when they were not supposed to, screwed up the whole program. That is, the program that was set up by the hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings we call the white mice. Ya?

  • i dont think they were friends...

  • where is zaphod's extra head and arm?

  • @eatmeimsteak its under his chin for some reason and his extra arm is tucked into his shirt...you'd think the guys who made it would have at least read it and would know that his second head is next to his first

  • @Zombine117 since Douglas Adams wrote the screen play, or most of it at least, i don't think that it should be disputed...

  • @eviljim108 true... did think the thoughtslapping plants and the point of view gun seemed a bit like something he would write into the book

  • @eatmeimsteak

Well at this moment, he traded them for Maghratea's Coordinates.

  • ow ound round ground ah hello ground i wonder if it will b friends with me

  • Comment removed

  • It's the Infinite Improbability Drive.

  • I wonder if it will be friends with me.

  • oh no, not again..........

  • A sky 'diving' whale...

  • What movie is this?

  • @inexplicable92 hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.

  • @inexplicable92 Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

  • Poor Agrajag...

I like that Arthur never realizes that he's been doing what he's been doing since ever.

(I try to keep it vague so the people who don't know continue to not know)

  • HELLO GROUND!!!

  • i read the books and know just why the bowl of petunias thought 'oh no, not again.' and let me just say it is so wrong on so many levels. ya just gotta love it.

  • What are cows?

  • Bill Bailey? He's really putting on a voice, isn't he? The first time I saw this, I thought the whale was supposed to be American.

  • zOMG! I know why the petunias said "oh no, not again."

It's the being that apparrently keeps getting killed by Arthur Dent, reincarnating, and dying again.

It makes a hate cathedral to Dent.

  • @b21492010 The being who keeps getting killed by Arthur and then reincarnated as another weird being is named AGRAJAG. Arthur meets him in a cave later.

  • @bimmjim Yeah. The Hate Cathedral/Shrine or whatever is in thh cave.

  • @b21492010 Ya that's right, like a kite. What's that number; is that the square root of 3 or e or something?

  • @bimmjim on my unsername?

the first four characters actually have something to do with me (b214), the rest are the result of b214 being taken on some other website. so i stuck with the name.

  • @b21492010 omg yes! ur right!

  • @b21492010 You must have not read the books.

  • @b21492010

Thanks for spoiling it for everyone who hasn't read that book yet.

  • @b21492010 wow, so you can actually read more than one book? congrats.

  • poor old agrajag

  • @TheAnimatedFish Haha I just got to that part of the book today

  • What are cows?

  • that's bill bailey that's bill bailey that's bill bailey that's bill bailey that's bill bailey O_____O"

  • "Oh no, not again." LOL!!

  • VinceKato, do you know why they are not making any more films cus it made a hundred million quid!! I love the books and I'm onto life the universe and everything at the moment.

  • In the third book, Life the Universe and Everything, we learn why the bowl of petunias said "Oh no. Not again." See page 95 of 161.

The bowl of petunias was another reincarnation of Agrajag.

  • ugh unfortunately they're not making the other books into films, so the complaining bowl of petunias will just be a complaining bowl of petunias

  • hello ground!!! (FOOM)

  • ground hello ground

  • what are cows?

  • who does the vocie of the wale

  • @perkyboy12345 Bill Bailey

  • @sodra9000 No it's not - i think it's the exact same recording that was used in the origional radio series. Sounds like it to me anyway XD

  • one of my favorite parts of the movie :D

  • Yoy gotta read the sequels man! they add so much more to this seen.

  • Oh no! Again?! xD

  • I am reading the book right now and it explains why the Bow of petunias said that and its pretty funny. I find it funnier than this.

  • i fell bad for the whale : /

  • THE MOVIE WAS HILARIOUS.

    THE BOOK WAS HILARIOUS

    THE RADIO SHOW WAS HILARIOUS

too bad most humor nowadays isn't as intellegent as this.

  • Poor whale.

  • oh no not again

  • oh the ground, i wonder if it will be my friend.

  • yea the bowl of petunias is a soul reincarnted and killed many times by arthur dent read the books

  • where can I get the books online? the books aren't available in book shops in my country.

  • @micbab12

Agrajag ! ( The bowl of petunias )

  • Existence is repetitive.

    :3

  • stupid whale >_>

  • Reading the book series puts the Bowl of Petunia's words into better perspective. Still hilarious in context.

  • ho no, not again.,,

  • If you listen closely, you can hear the faint sound of the bowl shattering on impact. I don't know why, but I crack up every time I hear that shatter.

  • @RemyCoolX same here hahaha XD

  • why does it always happen to the petunias?

  • no, that's what you do. To Evony popup ads.

  • Actually is a soul reincarnated to be killed by Arthur Dent, over and over again.

  • Indeed. Terrible fate for the petunias.

  • Hello ground! :D

I think this scene very much expresses the folly of trying to figure out why we are here and how things are. We simply exist and thusly should probably take as much time as we get to do just that.

  • "Oh no, not again."

  • Bill Baily is great.

  • I always thought of Eddie with the voice of Will Ferrell...

  • "oh no, not again..."

  • I've never seen the movie. I read through the Trilogy of four a couple of hundred times, since I love it, but just how many links is there between the movie and the books? Is the movie worth watching? :P

    P.S. Poor Agrajag

  • @bobbyleez13 yes theyre worth watching theyre epic

  • I just knew that bowl of petunias was Agrajag!

  • Radio Series>Books>movie, but all of them are good, i loved the movie except the ending

  • Good old Bill Bailey.

  • Agrodaj was awesome.

Anyone here bought the new one: And Another Thing?

  • still reading that one, whacha think? in comparison to the originals I guess..? lol

  • its alright, but it references the other books way too often. Its like the author is trying to convince the reader that he is doing his best, but he's no douglas adams

  • Agrodaj I love your humor as a bowl of petunias. " Stop Killing me Arthur Dent! " I know I know...

  • Agrajag. His name's Agrajag

  • Loved the movie (even though I've read the books). READ THE BOOKS!!!!!! They pwn the movie hard!

  • LISTEN TO THE RADIO SERIES!!!!!! They pwn the books hard!

In all seriousness though, every single iteration of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is different. They all have similarities but each is unique in some way. Radio Series, Books, Computer Games, TV Series, Stage Shows, Radio Scripts, Film, Comic Book, Records.

I personally love the movie just as much as I love the radio series, books, etc. Each one a different take on the book in this multi-verse.

  • The radio series came first.

  • you gotta know that Douglas Adams was either a Genius, or on drugs when he wrote this book series.

  • @mcbraynor LOL

  • heh, well... who knows? :))

  • definitely a genius

and I know why the bowl of petunias said "oh no not again"

    ask me

  • @trier4952 Probably both XD

  • @trier4952 I'll vote genius.

  • @trier4952 pull him out of the ground and make him take a drug test!

  • @Ele3tricEye dude...thats fucked up.

  • oh noes, not again...

  • "Hello Ground" XD

only Bill baily can make falling to your death sound exciting

  • Hello, Ground!

  • "What is normal?"

    "What's home?"

    "What're cows?!"

    ROFL! XD

  • The only good part of this adaptation of the book was Zooey.

  • What are cows?

  • yeah im sure the whales voice is bill bailey's

  • hahaahah "Hello, ground"XD

  • I know it isn't, but the whale reminds me of Eddie Izzard.

  • "Apparently, they've turned into, a bowl of petunias, and a vert suprised looking whale." Funny.

  • The voice of the whale... is that Bill Bailey?

  • Yep.

  • at least he died happy.

  • What are cows?
