IMO the Modern remix for Crisis City fits more (and is fairly badass), but the original crisis city ALSO works for this stage.... Then again, The Flame is just The Flame, with the same notes repeated almost endlessly, while the remix combines the four tracks of Crisis City (The Flame, Skyscraper, Tornado, Whirlwind).

Not sure if it actually does anything about the checks the game has in place to regulate sonic's speed, but it does provide boost. Basically balances out at the rate you burn it while holding it down. He did it in his City Escape run w/skills and it looks like it got him around a few corners faster. Same in Green Hill.

actually. they may not be. i saw this video where someone did the last half of city escape by constantly pausing and unpausing. apparently there's a split second where the clock doesn't run after unpausing. they may have abused that glitch. or they could be hackers like you said.
