  • The only thing that impresses me is how someone got that bus all the way there! Not some jack off who tried to live in it... Anywho If I lived anywhere near Alaska I would travel to the bus and beat it with a sledge hammer until there was nothing left... Just saying

  • the bus is still there today?

  • wow. this is so amazing. i really want to go there some day.

  • He could have lasted alot longer If he had a up to date map because he would have known there was A working tram a 1/4 of a mile down river the whole reason he died is he didn't want to cross the river .

  • If you think about it, the bus was really more of a curse than a blessing for Chris. Had he not found it, he probably would have come back sooner when the river wasn't so high.

  • Yay! I was there yesterday! LOl well I was on the Stampede Trail anyway. I didn't get to see the bus :(

  • Amazing...I hope someday I can make it there and pay my respects to Chris!

  • why can people arrive there and there isn't any vigilance or something ? somebody can arrive ther and steal things, is ok ? :(

  • somebody has the took part of the dash and sold it on ebay for 170 bucks or something like that. im gonna try to go over there in a couple years hopefully the buss isnt taken apart by people that dont respect it

  • Such beautiful Scenery!

  • I recommend you to watch the movie...open up your mind and let it in...It might going to make you think about stuff you never though about before...

"don't be afraid to question things, question everything.. or just remain a fool and die like one" *

    Peace out

  • i highly recommend the book!

  • This the movie is not a Hollywood action movie with happy ending, so the average American just cannot put it anywhere in their brain.

This movie is A+++. It is a spiritual journey that most people can't even imagine.

The most journey American people do is to drive down to WalMart or Mc Donalds for their stupid nasty brainless shit. All they think is work work work and buy buy buy. Most of hem don't even know what camping means how to put a nail in the wall or cook a decent meal.

  • i hope the bus blows up

  • it's sad that people takes thing. ever heard of something called sharing. everyone should be allowed to see everything that was left. people should not take pieces of the bus etc. as something to remember. take photos/ film the place but dont take what isn't yours.

One thing is for sure, the bus will not stay there forever but the story about Chris will!

  • I hope the State of Alaska does something to preserve the bus. Word is people who make it to the bus are taking pieces of it home with them. The dashboard instrument panel even showed up on eBay!

  • Hopefully that person got alot of money for it, so they can buy their way out of hell.

  • Hahahahahhah! Totally right. I hate people who do things like that. It's a shame. This bus should be left how it is. It's not there to make money from. I swear, people have no respect or soul.

    -Jess.

  • I think what chris did was remarkable im fr canada and i hunt with nothin but my gun and feet and its not easy .was he really happy when he died i dont think so. rip chris

  • There NEEDS tobe MORE movies about topics like this one.Films inspire folks todo GREAT things in their life times. "Make your own path,"and don't be afraid to share your journey with others...Dewey-thruhiker

  • The moose shown being prepared in the movie "Into the Wild" was a road-kill...it had been hit by a vehicle and was kept frozen for two months before being shot on film. No additional wild life was harmed in making this film.

  • In the book, it says that McCandless was upset that most of the Moose meat had spoiled even though he attempted to preserve it through a steaming method. Not sure if he was upset that he killed an animal. He obviously killed smaller animals on an almost daily basis too.

  • Such anger over nothing..

  • It may be nothing to you. It's an issue for us to have to often comment about that 'adventurer' who died in Alaska. He was NOT an Adventurer -- he was a fool and not someone to admire.

People like me devote our lives to learn respect and gain knowledge of the wilderness. THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE. The McCandless message is sour and angry.

But he gets the press and affects our next generation while true adventurers are barely even heard. I weep for the children, so yes -- it angers me.

  • It saddens me so much. So many people totally missed the point of what Chris was doing. Open your eyes, and have the courage to think about things in a broader spectrum. Do away with this "conventional thinking" that doesn't allow you to truly see the beauty of what Chris did.

  • We are all fools at one time or another..Angry stupid fools. Our moral high ground gives definition to where we live and we often blow it & it's inflated into a message for the world. The attributes of survivors are many fold & not much happens without a reason.Nothing left to be concealed.

  • What about those poor squirrels?

  • YOU GUYS.

I was quoting another person's comment!

Do you see what I put below the quotes?

    "Spam, pure spam."

I don't mean any harm toward the movie or the book or Chris McCandless in anyway! Sorry about the confusion.

  • Read this article for ACCURATE

  • I have some problems with Penn's film too, but "the moose" ain't one of 'em. You're correct that the moose that Emile Hirsch butchers was, in fact, a"real moose," BUT, it was NOT "murdered" for the film. The production worked closely with the Alaskan Highway Patrol to procure ROADKILL for the film. That scene was shot "on the fly" when the moose had been hit (and killed) by a car 4 hours earlier, and 30 miles away. RELAX, my friend.

  • just in case u guys didnt no this chris died in this bus back in 1992! they made a book about him and his life and the final moments of his life its called into the wild!!!

  • Wow, how adventurous of you "the helicopter pilot" got you there.

  • Actually, it was very adventurous my cynical friend... we had to CARRY the helicopter and the pilot out there and back! All that while out running a pack of hungry wolves and dodging a fierce brush fire!

  • I love what you wrote in the comment section, I feel the same way.

  • Thanks, I appreciate your comments on my comments.

  • what's with the guy in slacks and a dress shirt???

  • That's the chopper pilot in the slacks and dress shirt. He was just passing time untill he could fly us all out of there...

  • LOL... I was wondering. He just seemed a hair out of place. Cool that you all got to go out there.

  • this is great, however i really wish you went into the bus and took a look at the graffito and what not.

  • This video "Trail to BUS 142" doesn't load

  • Sorry, I do't know what to tell you... it is working at my end. I see that "1" person has this video linked to their site. Click on "link" and see if that will get you something.

  • Thanks for uploading, it's very interesting to actually see the scenery and the bus
