I love this son so much, such an all-time favorite of mine =) I remember hearing this for the first time in 2003 when i became a eurovision fan at the age of 12, I listened to this song a lot back then, during that spring and summer, and it always makes me feel nice and positive.

this song always reminds me of those happy, sunny spring days, when I'm looking forward to the next, new eurovision song contest =)

The lyrics in Dutch are QUITE bitter, compared to the English "translation", which is more of the non-sensical ABBA-type "Boom-a-boomerang" non-sense English. In Dutch, the song is about someone who has had ENOUGH waitng up at night for a lover who only shows up when he wants to show up.

I think Teach-In got the balance right for this song and justly got through to the final, where they sadly ditched this for an inferior English version. I don't even speak Dutch and the sheer extra level of phonetically nonsense words in the Dutch version just made my day when I first heard it. I mean "Tikketikketak en dan bim bam bom" is sheer genius phonetically :-) I even thought the opening phrase was "Is a lanker laden?" (it's "Is het lang geleden"!) and kept wondering what a "lanker" was!

@rklrkl64 The tikke tak bim bom actually makes sense, sort of. I never realised that untill now. The song is about how she waits for her love. Tikketak is the sound we make when we're imitating a clock (you'll probably say 'tic-toc'). Bim-bom is the sound a church bell makes. So the whole song is actually pretty sad, because she sing about a summerlove who never shows up ("De tijd was om" means "The time is up").

Dit is echt een van de beste winnaars ooit. Een lekker snel nummer, en ook heel goeie muziek.

Die "stomme kalkoen" is een deel van het Ierse leven geworden, vandaar dat ze hem stuurden. Wees maar blij dat hij gekozen was, er zijn nog ergere hier.

Ze zongen de Engelse versie bij het Songfestival. Hij is in allebei de talen leuk, maar toch op andere manieren.

Inderdaad ja, als mensen kiezen voor die stomme kalkoen met een ontzettend dom liedje in plaats van mensen die met een serieus en vrij leuk nummer aan komen... Hoe laag kun je zakken! =P

Dit is gewoon verruit het beste nummer dat ik ooit bij het Eurovisie Songfestival heb gehoord. Inderdaad, als ze nu al met zingende kalkoenen en een soort wezens van hel en vals zingende vrouwen aan komen lopen denk ik bij mezelf ook: Waar zijn we in godsnaam mee bezig? Het wordt nu meer een wedstrijd over wie er het slechtste kan zingen of wie er het raarst kan doen. Stuur eens goede mensen! Denk na! Nederland zou bijvoorbeeld best kans maken met Within Temptation ofzo :D

Ja, het waren andere tijden, maar deze song is en blijft wel onze beste inzending aller tijden en als je dan de latere inzendingen hoorde, om te huilen! Zat geen ritme of niks in. Ding a dong liep gewoon lekker, een echte hit! Jammer alleen dat ze als groep niet verder konden ivm spanningen in de groep.

Abba is inderdaad van andere klasse maar dit nummer lag wel iets beter in het gehoor dat hun winnende nummer eerder.

@sheepje1 Sinds wanneer zegt het al dan niet scoren van hits iets over de kwaliteit van een artiest of groep? Dat is van zoveel meer factoren afhankelijk dan alleen kwaliteit... ABBA was inderdaad van een andere orde van grootte, maar Teach In wel degelijk meer dan één hit gehad. 'In the summernight', 'Fly away', 'Goodbye love', en in een andere samenstelling 'Upside down' en 'Dear John' haalden de bovenste 5 van de top 40! En daarnaast hadden ze er nog wat die minder hoog kwamen.

The girl is Getty Kaspers, who is originally from Austria..I think she was a singer rather than a teacher;) The band's name has probably a different meaning..i rtealy don't know.
