  • I commented on another video of this that the second half of Willie the Lion Smith's 1938 recording of Rippling waters is similar to the B strain of this recording. It's interesting that when Smith recorded this again in the 50's he omitted that part from his performance.

  • @pianiplunker - Interesting that you should mention Willie the Lion.

    The transcribed sheet music of this lists both pianists as composers.

    It's available in a long out-of-print folio entitled "James P. Johnson's Piano Jazzfest".

  • Gut Stomp was co-composed with Willie "The Lion" Smith and published in the 1930's or '40's. Great tune; thanks for posting this!
