The only way this nation will be free is to take out the present regime. I cannot believe this is allowed to exist in our present world. While I'm not a socialist, elements of Socialism can increase the living standard dramatically, if you look at Europe. None of the nations there are strictly socialist, but they have signifigantly higher standards of living than say, the United States.

And if you're referring to policies such as welfare payments, these are in place to provide safety nets to those in need of money so as to deny the chance for massive class divides you see in the US to arise, not to remove incentives to find work.

The Constitution put us about midway between the center & the far right, where there is just enough government to protect the rights, property & safety of the people but not enough to interfere with their lives. @futuresonex I would disagree that a 'decline into the left' is what has left America in the state it is. Quite frankly, causes like corporate greed, massive class divides, gross misspending of funds (the military should not be getting the paycheck it is right now), and the various effects of globalization including a reduced amount of jobs and an offshore workforce is what has put America in the state it is.
Note that none of these reasons are due to 'the left'.

Reason 2- As an ally of China, they likely have leverage if anyone tries to invade. Unless China attacks them too (communist pride says otherwise).
Reason 3- Unless they make the first move, we do nothing. We did not invade Iraq until they attacked.

I think the greater story is that a person who was an uneducated adult learned fluent English with a perfect US accent in 3 years. (2005 to 2008 -- the date of the video). Also he wrote a book 2 years after escaping. I'm sorry, but that seems unlikely.

Later, the Dong Hyuk Shin comes up and speaks with a translator. Also, he wrote the book with the help of literate folk. He told them the story and they put it to words. Google "I Was a Political Prisoner at Birth in North Korea" you will find the book available in PDF form and on websites. It is there to spread awareness, not to be a literary masterpiece.
