Had to add this: Due to the low altitude and a bad receiver, we lost radio contact with our ground team. We left the holding point at the scheduled time and hoped for the best. The timing only worked out because of the VT band leader told us in advance EXACTL Y how long it would take his band to play the National Anthem. Thanks to their precision playing, we didn't look like idiots, flying over way after the song ended.

What they are doing is dividing the R&D costs up amongst the the 21 planes built. The same is done for most military aircraft. The problem is it is not accurate, because it depend on the number of aircraft built. Since only 21 are built it inflates the number. Compare that to the cost of say an F-22 (around 70 million) which was more expensive to develope but 220 were ordered.

If the ground troops are taking a lot of fire from one building and they can confirm exactly what buildng it is they can call one of these in to destroy it, and at the same time cause very little to no collatoral damage.
