just bought one of these - fantastic build, very practical and great attention to detail on the design (love the seat post pump). shame i had to order the front luggage truss from the US though as no one seems to stock it in the UK.
I had a Dahon. I enjoyed it, but the seat post cracked full thru after 4 years of riding. No help from the dealer or Dahon despite the supposed 5-year warranty.
I think this video might be a little bit enhanced to make things seem a little easier than they are. The bike is quite easy to fold BUT...there are things like: You can fold in half like they do in video, you have to raise handlebars first or handlebar will hit part of the wheel's axle. Also the cables will generally be in the way so you have to guide the cables out of the way or the magnet won't hold. So it's relatively easy but does require a little more care/precision/steps.
The bike featured in the video is a 2006 model year Vitesse. We have gradually improved the bike over the years and it still remains as one of our better selling bikes. The 2008 version of the Vitesse weighs around 12 kg (26 lbs).
@mffn, the bike featured in the video is a Vitesse D7HG and the 2010 model has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of US$799. The Eco 2 is our entry-level model and currently has a MSRP of US$349.
I don't think $900 is that much for a decent bike. I wish they were cheaper, but that's just the way most good quality bikes are priced. Also, they sell the Eco 3 if you want a low-priced Dahon, but the Eco 3 seems to be designed for short rides of a couple of miles at a time only.
You don't really want a Vitesse, you can't enough screw the bolt to hold the rear wheel (if you screw it tight, you will break the thread of the Sturmey Archer hub because the axel is flat (like in some BMX). After have problems with many bikes, we found a way to solve it, but this should not happen to a new bike...
Anyway the shimano or sram internal hub are better.
can anyone please tell me when the dahon speed p8 2008 model is coming to the uk? have emailed dahon, email ignored. emailed foldingbikes, email ignored. someone on ebay in germany selling them but i dont wanna have it shipped all that way in case of any problems or faults. thanks

UPDATE : they now have Shimano hub (the problem was for the 2006-2007 models), it should be OK now, so be careful if you buy a used one.
