I love the Chicks music, but Natalie's live version of this song doesn't hold a candle to Dan's. Dan has such a sincere, natural tenor voice. I'm surprised that 'Chick Loyalty' clouds some listener's ears. Those of us who have been fans of Dan since the Trip Shakespeare days know better. Shame on the rest of you.

Actually Natalie Maines singing this is supremely effective. Incredible actually. If they wrote this with Dan then kudos. I like his version also, but Natalie just hits those notes like no-one's business.

Hmm... I agree that he is like a white Smokey Robinson, or a male Kara DioGuardi or Linda Perry... those songwriters who are great at their craft, but not the voice to be singers. That's why his voice faltered a few times, but I see now why he's the perfect aide to the Dixie Chicks.
