Thanks for this video! Love her. Great speech. She's absolutely right - if we don't continue drilling (at least until alternative sources are ready) then we'll just have to buy the oil from countries overseas, many of whom have horrible philosophies towards human rights. So it makes absolutely no sense to support these governments that are in favor of these human rights violations. We need to drill here in the USA and do it responsibly with the proper regulations.

Palin has always been a strong advocate for state-sponsored drilling in her state, not an advocate for companies like BP or Citgo.

@nsbd90now OK, then move to one of the countries I'm talking about, like Saudi Arabia, if you think our policies are so horrible. Everything is relative. And many countries that make a lot of money off of oil reserves aren't even CLOSE to the USA's standards in terms of human rights. Complain about America all you want, but the fact is (relatively speaking), we've got it pretty great here and I'm thankful for that.

@zeecee1 The "love it or leave it" attitude is just so empty. I do not believe in a morality that compares downwards, i.e. since they are so much worse that makes what we do ok. That is pure moral vacuity. I DO think torture is horrible, am distressed we now seem to think it is ok. We cannot claim a moral high ground with such a move. I agree with you though, yes, we do have it "pretty good" here, but it is getting worse, not better, due to right wing extremism and downward moral comparisons..

And where you see the more prevalent extremism is relative to your own political philosophy, I suppose, for example I personally see more left wing extremism. Many of our elected officials believe a new gov't program or bailout is the answer to our problems. It makes me uneasy that the left-wingers in Congress are taking over companies. I don't know, I just think it's a potential slippery slope.
