I would like to see being raised, you could even make a museum out of her... never saw a sunken ship being raised again (except this mighty servant II)
depends, if it ran around the the hole would prolly be on the side and bottom so they prolly couldnt patch the hole there, also if it rolled down a hill as it sank the there would be alot of holes
@77elvistheking well, not really, if you think about it. she capsized right before disappearing under the waves, and litterally rolled down the slope of the caldera to where she rests now.
Take it away?, WTF are they stupid? they should be marketing it as a primier diving attraction. A salvage company can pump the fuel oil out of the tanks but the ship itself is there to stay and extreme diving on wrecks is a big draw to divers.
what they forget is by removing the ship we take away something more than just another wreck in the future our childrens children and their children will no doubt travel on even more advance cruises ships like these are like time capsules by taking them away we deprive our children of a learning experience so they can study this ship and see what cruising was like for us much like how we learn from the titanic
they should have beach her before she sank and then repair the hole and pumb out the water and maybe she would sail again.....I hope they do raise her so I can see it again
probably not anymore. I heard something a bidding war to raise the ship. I bet if they could raise the ship clean out all the toxic oil and all the other toxics. They could get it running again.
i think the island of santoini needs to be sued for not marking dangers in the water..they say its a tourists island,,but thay can't keep the ships safe...wtf!!
i'd dive that
KISSbuttplugs 5 days ago
it would be best to remove the oil and other pollutants, but raising the ship seems unecessary.

I've been to Santorini many times, and it's an incredible island filled with history. I'd hate to see the water, etc., polluted by neglect.

according to article I read that the port authoy of santorini would hired a salvge company if Louis cruise line would not meet their demands.

@sweetheart2109, pretty unlikely that anything apart from scrapping would be done. Too expensive.

@sweetheart2109 not with the water damage it would be too costly.

It would cost to much to raise. She's been underwater for 2 years.
WamsWarrior 2 years ago
Does anyone know why the fuel oil would back up through out the ship? Isn't it in protective tanks?
WamsWarrior 2 years ago
I was on this ship! lol bad times x

Man, that really sux... that was a cool looking ship...
i wonder how much it'd cost for Louis to repair SD if they raised it...
ActiveWorldsLunitic 3 years ago
this ship cant be repaired..every ship is under the water generaly
geofx09 2 years ago
It is much cheaper to take the fuel and oil out then raise the ship.

If you check my reporting at the time, you will find this was one of the questions we were asking!
Brabantfeatures 3 years ago
why didn't they beach the ship and then repaired it. What a waste.
