  • Will this work with a projector? What all does apple tv need to be plugged into? I have a viewsonic projector

  • @ironscabula1 - Yes it will work with any display that supports HDMI.

  • @iftibashir Oh awesome! I would have thought I would have to have an HD TV to do so. No other cables required? Thanks for the fast response!

  • @ironscabula1 - Nope. HDMI carries both audio and video, so no other cables between the two are required.

  • No stereo output? Does the apple tv 1 have any sort of analog audio output?

  • @ccoker95 - its just the optical output.

  • Good review!

  • can u also watch regular tv like direct tv? or just stuff from utube or ipod stuff?

  • @LiV3Sn1p3r7 - by default, its just through the apps on teh unit, like YouTube, Netflix, etc.

  • How well does this compare to the logitech Revue?

  • @messagekl how do i get the new os x mountain lion??

  • @yeadallas214 - you need to wait until its been released later this year, and it'll probably be a purchase via the mac app store, just like Lion.

  • Could it go for iPad ?

  • does apple tv have a browser that you can go to any website that require you to have latest flash player

  • how can i mirror my macbook pro threw apple tv??? like if im surfing the web it will show up on my tv with out connecting my mac to the tv via hdmi ?? plz help just subscribed!

    thanks!!

  • @yeadallas214 - I dont think you can at the moment, but I do know that an update to allow this should be coming soon.

  • @iftibashir yea, if you check out the OSX Mountain Lion coming out this summer (2012) it says it'll allow mirroring with apple tv.

  • @yeadallas214 The new OSX Mountain Lion update will allow Airplay (mirroring)

  • great vid!

  • No jailbreaks anywhere. You're losing out m8

  • Pretty nice, though I just plug my Laptop and can watch any file through HDMI on my TV.

  • Very informative. Thanks

  • Apple tv is awesome, for $100 I can watch everything I downloaded from iTunes on tv perfect. I wish I knew about this before. I would buy another one for my living room but I'm going to wait for the 3rd gen to come out

  • Is there any thing that Apple TV does that Macbook Pro can't (in terms of media)?

  • You are an apple person of note like me

  • THAT'S certainly NO European power-supply, it's just UK rubbish!

  • How do you connect the apple tv box to the actual tv? Anybody

  • @TheeAssViolator - a single HDMI cable.

  • i have a samsung tv doesnt have internet built in will i need this for apple tv or will it work through the internet built into apple tv??

  • @Patrickmusic19 - All internet content goes through the AppleTV - whether your TV has internet connectivity or not doesn't matter.

  • In order to stream videos from my itunes library on the apple tv, does itunes need to be running on my computer?

  • can i play apple tv through my surround sound system without the optical audio cable and just use the hdmi cable? my surround sound is connected to my dvd player and the apple tv is obviously connected to my tv

  • an apple productr shown on a samsung tv, soon you will be with a samsung product shown................on a samsung tv

  • Great video. Clear and concise instructions. Excellent.

  • Is this not for use on a TV?

  • @Kalsingh - Yes it is. Connected to TV via HDMI.

  • if i bought apple tv and use airplay with ipad 2 can you browse the internet on your tv will it show this or does it only show moves ,,you tube,,and music???? i want to browse internet on my tv with my ipad 2 with out wires :)

  • What happened to your "tv programs" feature?

  • If I got Apple TV, I'd be using homeshare for my movies. The movies would need to be stored on an external hard drive which iTunes would use as its library location. Would USB be quick enough or would I need Firewire?

  • so you always need your computer on to use this seems pointless and waste of power

  • @Mr2018TV - See my other videos. I do not leave my computer on at all. I can stream from other devices, or you can rent movies straight through the AppleTV2.

  • @Mr2018TV or stream from your phone.

  • So do you have to buy a HDMI cable for it? Do you need good Internet?

  • @mrsnads1 - Yes you need your own seperate HDMI cable. Good internet speed depends on your use. If you will be downloading or renting movies etc, then you'll need a decent speed. If you are only using it to airplay from you iDevice for example, then its your internal network speed that needs to be decent.

  • Can ya tell me what router you are using..as my BT home hub 3 keeps dropping the airplay ion over Ethernet with my pioneer 921 home cinema reciever..will the wireless work better....?..it is about 38mbps..as its BT infinity

  • but u need to have good internet for streaming and that, right? damn, cuz i only get 160kb/s at tops :( will airport extreme give me faster internet speed ?

  • @iAUZGAM3R - If you are using airplay from your computer/iDevice then you Internet connection has nothing to do with it - it about the speed of the wireless within your house.

  • how do you turn off ipad without wasting power?

  • Yup

  • is the airplay exclusive for itunes only? i mean is it gonna work if i play a down loaded movie to VLC or quicktime movie player then airplay or sync it to the apple tv?

  • can stream from pc? just like you do with the Macbook??

  • watch thechoiboyz for unboxings and more

  • Could you do that with netflix?

  • Apple tv ? Looks stupid i can just hook my laptop my tv

  • @up97

Ok so your just gonna put al the cables everytime on the tv? Its just an example why apple is genious it focus on how easy and wel designed their products are without putting cables everywhere installing drivers everywhere.

  • can i ask?? i need to buy a HDMI ?

  • @PAULJOHN261

    yes

  • Help me please! I connected my apple tv 2 and my screen is black. What to do?

  • When your playing a movie from your iPad,can you exit out of videos and going into something else like a game? or do you have to keep it in videos?

  • @dearash07 - Yes, you can continue to use your iPad as normal, and the AirPlay content will continue to stream in the background since it continues to run in your multitasking bar.

  • Hallo, i have a question:

I have some films and tv-shows in my Itunes, and i want to buy AppleTV2 so i can see them on my widescreen tv.

Some of the films and tv-shows is not widescreen when i play them in Itunes. My question is... Will they become widescreen on my tv when i stream them to my AppleTV2 ???

    - Sorry for my english - I hope someone answer me :-D

    Thanks

  • @klovn51

No they will not be widescreen. You can however change the files to widescreen with some nice software ;)

  • Very nice review !

  • Can you use the apple tv without having your iphone or computer on?

  • @lilcamro - Yes it can be used as an individual unit.

  • Can you tell me wat hub or router you are using as my BT home hub 3 loses connection with AirPlay a lot

  • @davejenjosh - I have an Apple Airport Extreme. Very happy with it. Stays on 24/7 and its still going strong over a year on.

  • So you can use it with a pc.

  • tks, that helped me a lot

  • thank you so much very helpul

  • Very useful - thank you for making the time to share this with us.

  • Can you use apple tv for two tvs? please answerrr again :) :) haha

  • So if you had a hard drive with movies on it and it was plugged into your Mac would that work?

  • How do you turn the apple tv back on after you put it on sleep and after you got dont watching regular tv??? Please answerrrr :)

  • @02johnmatt - Press the Menu button on the remote. Or if you have the 'Remote' app on your iPhone or iPad, you can switch on my pressing the menu button via that app. Alternatively, if you just start Airplaying a movie, it will switch itself on automatically.

  • @iftibashir-Thanksss a bunch man.

  • @hans503 - Yes, purchased within the UK.

  • u copied the intro to Izzy video!

  • Thanks so much because I have home sharing enabled on my home computer but it's almost never on since I use my iPad the most for internet so thanks

  • Does your computer need to be on for home share

  • @tevine580 - No. I have Home Sharing enabled on my AppleTV2, iPad and iPhone. Although its also enabled on my MacBook, my MacBook is usually switched off when performing the tasks shown in this video.

  • What if I have an external HD with a bunch of music/movies on it? How would I go about watching something of my external on my AppleTV?

  • @DarkoBWM - In its normal form, no.

  • i'm wondering if apple is going to do something with this with that pc free thing

  • For the cable ports on the back of the apple TV unit, to connect it to my Television do I need both the HDMI and Optical Audio cables? And, Im under the impression that if my home is a Wi-Fi spot, then I don't need an ethernet cable, right?

  • Yeah I want to know the same thing Damian wants to know. Does it play things you download through sources that may be illegal, or may be immoral? I.E., torrents, and private trackers.

  • @kjeezy101 - I stream anything. I have my movies on my NAS, and then use my iPad or iPhone to play those movies using an app called 'AirPlayer'. I then airplay these wirelessly across to the Apple TV - hence no instance of iTunes needs to be running etc.

  • Are you using a wireless network instead of the Ethernet cable? I was wondering how well it worked.

  • @TekUnlimited - Everything is wireless.

  • Great video, Q. Does the apple TV only stream movies and music that are purchased in iTunes, or can it also stream other films and music outside of iTunes ? liked downloaded content. Ty :)

  • surprised me with the power cable. lol

  • or windows even

  • i know it's a stupid question but;will this work on pc? -R.I.P Steve Jobs :(

  • Thanks a lot bro...it helped me a lot n cleared my doubts..thanks bless ya :)

  • Great review going to get one as my dads mate is selling it for £50 and he only had it for a month looks great my dads mate said it's great but he getting rid of it cause he has no apple device and just wanted it to play movies of the pc and he said there's no point when he could get a cable to do that but I am getting it so happy :)

  • might seem a daft question, but once you have set up the home sharing... does the macbook have to always be on to playback content on there?

  • @1d2p3 - Yes, you need to have an instance of iTunes running. I get around that by placing the content on my NAS and using my iPad or iPhone to AirPlay it across to my ATV - works perfect ;o)

  • can you airplay your photos/videos saved in your camera roll of your iDevice?

  • @brado147 - Yes you can. Simple 1 button touch!

  • great quality video .top notch, and now for my question.does it work on 3gs phone and if so does the airplay icon automaticly come up on set up?

  • @lasvagas16 - Yes it should, and yes the icon comes up automatically.

  • Well I know I should have read the box, but I'm 30 now and the print is SMALL AS HELL!!! It woulda been nice if the fool at BestBuy would have told me I needed to buy an extra device (HDMI Cord) to use this!!!

  • @TSXboy26 - lol, yes I would have assumed they could have at least put a HDMI cable in the box when you spend that extra premium for Apple products!

  • @iftibashir exactly! And since it was Apple thats what I assumed. Like i've always heard, never ever assume. Thank god I found an extra one. I still dunno what its really for though? lol just playing with it……did u JB yours?

  • @TSXboy26 you know what they say.. never assume you make an ass - out of - u - and - me ass u me get it?!

  • Great video! Any lack in picture quality when streaming from your PC?

  • @callebergman1 - No quality seems spot on.

  • 5:34 u fliped me off haha

  • Care*

  • Why Carr about weight, your not gonna carry it around :L
