  • This is beautiful!

  • Very cool, love the funky sound.

  • turkish imstrument

  • I play guitar, viola, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, and cello, but now I want one of THESE. I know where to get one, but before I do, I really want to know how I'm going to learn it... I would use a book, or person, or Youtube instructables, but idk where to find any of those. Help?

  • @nathpowe It is very hard...I want one too, I dont have much time but I am interested in playing Byzantine scales(echoi) and turkish makams.Gratefully I know people to show me...I believe a teacher or a friend is the best solution...

  • mainly means " life of the party"

  • @yamahonkawazuki cumbus comes from the word συμποσιον (sumbosion) ,which means fest in greek but in turkish means ridiculous

  • @AlexBouzouki i had heard this as well. " rediculous" or life of the party. either way love the sound of it. appreciate the correction my friend :)

  • @TerminalSulcus Still, I hear a lot of simular harmonies in swedish and arabic folk music :)

  • This sounds like a swedish folksong !

  • Beautiful !

  • feel like chilling in the desert

  • add some of those hand cymbals and some hot dancing babes and you got something

  • lots of mistakes in there

  • @100copies you have your version uploaded?

  • Wow. A Turkish banjo. I want one. ::drool::

I wonder how Foggy Mountain Breakdown would sound on that beast?

  • @wackyruss similar to a banjo. but not a banjo. its called a cumbus. in turkish meaning somethign similar to " life of the party"

  • That was amazing! Love the sound of this instrument!

  • mmmmm, it is al andalus heritage song..but i don't know about the instrument that used here.

  • Is the cumbus front tensioned like a zither banjo or rear tensioned like a bluegrass banjo?

The sound is beautiful. I love the sound of a double string.

  • this is Turkish folk instrument cumbus... it has got magical sound... it's tuning similar oud

  • Thanks For the info it looks like the G is used as a drone. Its similar to and istrument i played that was tuned GADGC.

  • What the tuning for it?

  • My cumbus tuning is: G,A,D,G,C,E (E should be F, but one of the strings broke, so I tuned the remaining one down to E)

  • Is this song you play a folk tune or it's cover of Hamza el Din's song? I heard it before in few versions, that's why I'm asking. It's very beauitful song and you played it really well.

  • If you like this song and want to hear a version with the vocals, you should check out Arkan's lamma bada.

  • nice! rock on! keep working!

  • Just listen to the Song! Dont talk shit here!

  • What a fantastic instrument. Its like a banjo/ oud/ sitar cross. I wonder why its not more popular?

  • Why sitar?

  • nice...where does one buy a cumbus. and can you recommend a particular brand?

  • nice man thats song moash from andalus sing by firoz

  • This is from Al Andalus. But it doesn´t matter, it´s just beatiful music

  • If you studied the music history you would know! I did and i don't have to argue with anyone... Believe what you want to believe but also respect the people with knowledge instead of using inappropriate language please...

  • i dont understand why a song must to belong a nation. what changes if its origin in Ottoman or other place? forget all about this and you can proof this is a song whose origin Ottoman. what we gain? this place is youtube not a class.

  • fuck you all!! it is Lebanese not turkish or Andalousia... It's us Lebs who chanted this song lol

  • This is an Ottomanic original song... For everyones information. Stop fighting over it... In it's time we were as one...Ottoman Emperor... Thank you...

  • what matters turk or arab? arent we children of same god? stop this crap pls..

  • @suphibaykal Actually there is no god :( We're all humans though.

  • @telemachia speak for yourself Eh? you are entitled to your OPINION. and as a christian, ill respect that.

  • @suphibaykal agreed. as it says in teh bible. " GOD made man in his own image. funny thing is i explain this to the racists out there, i worship a man born in or enar what is now israel. aka middle east. i dont care :). GOD blessed this man, and others including myself wiht an ability to either play or appreciate this beautiful music. it speaks to my soul.

  • Tack!

  • amazing.

  • perfect turkish song

  • This is not a Turkish song. It's a classical Arabic song from the Andalusi (Arabic-Spanish) era. It sounds very nice on a Turkish instrument, however.

  • where this song originally from??

    turk or arab?

  • The Muwashah called :"Lamma Bada Yatathanna" , and its to old song (Andalusian song). Feuruz just make a new performance of the song .

  • I really enjoyed that, thanks.

  • turkish name for that song pls?

  • Not a Turkish song. It's an Arabic song. It's called, "Lamma Bada Yatathanna" Translation: When she began to twist [her body]

  • Turkish name of this song is ' Derde derman bu gece ' nesrin topkapi is singing with sibel can. You can also search as ' aman aman' aynur is singing on you tube...

  • Hi nurtanem, i've been searcching "Derde derman bu gece" for long time and i can´t find it, can you help me? if you have this song, could you send it to me? please, it's a beautiful song, i really love it. Thank you.

  • I had fun in Turkey.I love the belly dancing also.

  • that shits crazy crazier than dragon force

  • The Maqam system's microtones makes almost any music of the middle east at the very least sound virtuosic by nature.

  • good stuff man. Im about to buy one within the next week or so. One question I have is how is the action on the fretboard? if its too high can you adjust the bridge?

  • Nice, such a tranquil beautiful song. Just got back from a bellydance workshop where we were dancing to this song - interesting 10/8 time signature. I didn't hear as strongly the 6-7-8 beats in your version, cwhick makes it more meditative.

my tuning is EF#BEAD one of the popular tunings in turkey...

sorry i don't have equipment for video (( i hope soon...

    keep on playin' friends

  • Mine is GCDGCF. I've heard about stringing with acoustic/electric guitar sets so you could get a DEADGC for instance. The problem would be sanding the bridge slots to allow thicker guitar strings to be placed.

  • My cumbus tuning is: G,A,D,G,C,E (E should be F, but one of the strings broke so I tuned the remaining one down to E), I guess this is the a standard cumbus tuning but many diffirent tunings (turkish and arabic) works......

  • Fred please which is your cumbus tuning (low to high)?

  • papalinatava, great clip!

  • Great...I play cumbus, too.
