Cortot will always be for me one of the most enigmatically elegant and eloquent pianists of all time. His playing was as he appeared, poised and refined. Inevitable. There's blood in it's veins. He had a very real and vital awareness of the poetry inherent in every possible turn of phrase. This is such an extraordinary performance. Thank you so much! Why has this received so few viewings and comments? Such a shame. Everything is here!

Oh my, this is extraordinary.

Just off the top of my head, this may be the most beautiful performance of this piece I've ever heard.

And darned good, technically, for Cortot in 1949.

Thank You for the beautyful upload! Could You tell more please about the recording date? I only know other recordings by Cortot on Biddulph (19.5.1937), APR-Late recordings Vol. 3 (1950) and RCA -Cortot in Japan (1952) but never heard this one before. His 1937 recording is also inspired and simply: beautyful.
