Love how they ran out of time just as he was telling his big lie about science. His earlier crap crediting Christianity for equality, dignity and human rights is obscene. Just read their bible, full of genocide, slavery, women as property, and casting disbelievers into the fires of hell. When Christianity was in total control, it was the Dark Ages. The science, education, philosophy, engineering of superior civilizations were all buried. Only the Enlightenment freed us from its grip.

What many people overlook is that in Ancient Hebrew Culture, a slave (bond servant) was a person who gave themselves to servitude when a debt could not be paid and the mosaic law established the maximum to 7 years. After this term the person often chose to stay as a servant because of personal poverty and/or lack of housing. They where not compelled to slavery because of their race, or any other prejudice. Slavery in the old testament must be understood in a cultural, historic background.

That is why many people make the uneducated error that scripture is confusing or contradictory. People take verses out of context. They don't do cultural or historical research on it, or don't take in consideration literary devices that are used by some writers. Many things shakespeare wrote make no sense unless you interpret it in historical context and understand literary devices used by him.

The bible was written after but unfortunatly you have no idea how it came to be. The teachings of the old testament called the torah at the time it was written. Before it was written it was maintained orally for centuries beforehand. Lastly the new testament wsan't formed tills everal hudnered years after the books of it were written. D'Souza correctly stated IN HIS BOOK that the concept of people being treated as equals comes from Holy Scripture.
