That is the reason there are so many out of control kids now days. The punishment must meet the crime. As soon as corporal punishment was removed from schools and the kids knew nothing more than some sort of suspension would be their punishment, they started being out of control, with no respect for authority that continues to their adult lives.

There is a science to spanking. I think spanking should be done at a very early age, this stamps the psyche of a child and they grow through the years being afraid of the spanking thinking that it's the most terrible thing ever not really knowing that they have grown out of it. The mistake parents make is that they hold off spanking until the child becomes resistant to it and pass all misbehavior in the younger years as "cute"

There is a true and good Biblical teaching of punishing kids when they do wrong, but beating kids is not in the Bible. There is a verse or passage that speaks of stoning a disobedient child, but there are no actual examples of it actually happening, and it was likely not a small child, but a teen or young adult that was doing something that was detrimental to the community, and who was unrepentant. God had to be strict to maintain discipline in covenant Israel, that are not needed today
