Who cares who did what first? Freddie Mercury and Queen were friggin' awesome at what they did! Who cares if they were the first ones or the last ones to do it! Rock wasn't born with Elvis, Zeppelin, the Beatles, etc. It can be argued forever who the first r"ock "band was. What can't be disputed is there were a lot of black musicians decades before Elvis, Carl Perkins, Bill Haley, whoever, that never got credit until bands like Zeppelin and others gave them homage for being influences!
ATTENTION all Queen fans,On September 5th, Freddie's birthday, we will be watching Bohemian Rhapsody repeatedly all day to boost its view count up to at the least 700,000,000 views. You don’t even have to listen to it. You can just keep playing the video back to back all the way through without sound. We’re doing this to compete with Justin Bieber's garbage music videos & to make Queen be heard across Youtube. Copy& Paste this across all Queen videos. Spread the word!

The first time I saw queen in MSG '77 I left a little in love with Freddie Mercury a voice that was perfect! A beautiful soul...he never disapointed and soo sexy. Brian May guitar master, Roger Taylor on drums and a falsetto that was amazing! John Deacon wrote some of Queen's greatest songs. 4 brilliant men a perfect fit...every album blew me away.I will always be a Queen fan" less
who gives a fuck if freddie was gay, bi, straight, I miss him, and I will give props on on his 20 year death anniversary.....he was amazing, and is much loved still today.
My favorite Queen song :) It doesn't make me think of Elvis at all. I know that they made it as a tribute to Elvis and base on his style, but I just see it solely as them, like the created a different artistic style with the Elvis stuff. I guess they out-elvised Elvis ;)
Queen are the pioneers of Video Music they started it with Bohemian raphosody in 1975 and kept it alive, all the way, till Freddie died. They opened up a new era for of unclaimed territory.
@eraldb12 Actually beatles were the first music act in history in using a video to promote a song. No one did it before and it was in the 60's. In case you bring Elvis' vide up to this issue, let me tell you that it was a movie, not intended to promote any song.
@ricorico33 if you think its Beatles first music act that used videos on their songs, then you can go as far as 1930s. Queen were the officially succesful band with the release and reaching audiences with "Bohemian Rhapsody"
Beatles were totally different generation. Queen opened the doors to what music videos should be and were capable of reaching. Sorry to disappoint you. I like Beatles but Queen were masters of promotion.
@eraldb12 in the 30's they did "musicals". Queen didnt open any door since inthe 60's beatles did "rain", first video to be used as a marketing tool to promote a song. As George Harrison said: "So I suppose, in a way, we invented MTV". I like Queen too but Bohemian Rhapsody wasnt that big in the 70's. Queen was overshadowed by Led Zeppelin and other bands in the 70's. I really knew who was Queen when Freddie died in 91.
@ricorico33 if you knew freddie when in th 91 then you should not be making any comments about their history in the seventies.. I'd appreciate you not reply..
This is a Rockabilly song, and the band is clearly paying homage to Elvis Presley...Freddie even imitates Elvis' style and voice...sounds like a song from the 1950's even though I know it was recorded and released in 1979.....awesome....I love it!!
@1aceves I agree, but with the pants he put out the gay version. He's dressed just as they were in the gay clubs in the early 80's...the hat, the tight leather pants, etc.
When this song first came out my grandma was around 81...you know how old people don't even take a chance to hear new music artists?...she said QUEEN was the only exception <33 R.I.P Grandma and Freddie
@SexyRaww I don't find him ugly at all, he's one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen. I can get people not finding him a great beauty, but how can anyone call him ugly? And people like Rob Pattinson are better looking how? His face looks like it got stepped on. I know that beauty is subjective, but I shudder at what people today consider "hot"...
@IAmPlaysWithSquirrel Well, everyone has their own opinion. I can see why people call Robert "hot", it's just a different kind of beauty. But Freddie, in my opinion, has something about him that is just so attractive beyond the physical, something that Robert to me, can't reach. Why ppl have called Freddie ugly? Well if I was to take on their view for a sec, I'd say they think he has "big buck teeth", the same thing that I think is cute, alluring and unique. He's just so amazing to me.
@SexyRaww Well that, or his exotic features, which some might think make him look "weird".
As far as teeth go, I agree with you. For a lot of people the buck teeth would distract from their looks, but in Freddie's case it adds to his beauty.
@IAmPlaysWithSquirrel Yeah I've always had a "wierd" perspective on beauty according to the majority of society. I just don't see the beauty in the same blond-haired-pink-cheeked-"classy" girl/guy. It gets tiring and commercial. People like Freddie have something exotic, fresh and interesting. I really enjoyed this convo :)
Honoring him, for sure. That's why he even imitates Elvis' vocal stylings for this song, and Brian M. plays such a killer 50s-ish rockabilly lead. And they're all wearing "The Wild One"-esque era leather.
@GayMostly Stop saying that. It's not a proven fact he was a homosexual. These guys totally inspired my band. Our new video of Crazy Little Thing is our tribute to probably the best band in history. That's why we improved and updated the sound.
freddie really looks indian in this video. i know he is but he usually doesnt look it.... it's that forehead and classic jaw chin shape bollywood actors have.

ok, for all you fucking idiots out there, Freddie Mercury was bisexual. who gives a goddamn rat's ass if he sings like a god? We loved him for his music, not his sexual preference.
And JB does not even belong in the same realm as Queen, since real music seemed to die with Queen's generation.
@metalforlife989 He was bisexual. He had a girlfriend and a boyfriend. No oofence to you but please get your facts straight before you start posting stuff on youtube.
Wow, great song, but the video? Really? I looooooove the song, but I will never remember it the same now. :) Either way, great song, great music, great band. I just recently read that Brian May got a degree in astrophysics. To think if Freddie Mercury hadn't have died...... today's singers would totally be screwed out of a job because they'd still be hittign the charts.
@gracie1010101 all i can think of to this is one of freddies last recorded words from his last concert before HIV got him, in relation to rumors of queen breaking up. "we will be doing this till we die im sure of it" so true, so sad, god i miss this band.
don't get me wrong, as much as I think Freddy Mercury was well before his time and will never be remembered as anything less than a modern day Mozart for his ear for music.. Comeon... look at Brian May play that guitar.. like, just look... and enjoy...
Freddie and capitan kirk have one major thing in common: Shirts don't last long on their chests.
