Many of the nuclear tests conducted at Eniwetok and other places were bigger than the Fat Man and Little Boy dropped at Hirshima and Nagasaki. All the tests are posted on the internet for review, I didn't memorize them all, but the facts are there. Including the testing of H Bombs.

Eniwetok was only about 25 miles across and they tested almost 50 weapons there and I would bet the majority were way bigger and more effective than those dropped in WWII.

However, the single most realistic threat to the US is not total nuclear war, but stategic nuclear war or an Electro-Magnetic Pulse (EMP) attack which only needs a minimum of one a-bomb in order to be successful.

An EMP attack by nuclear explosion would leave the US as a third world country.
