No comparison...I don't always think that the original versions of films are better than their remakes though...I thought Rob Zombie's Halloween was just as good I'd not better than the original John carpenter version...either way it provided good character background info...
@bunnywailer14 the thing is in remakes the camera angles flash between one another too fast when there's a chase scene to actually see what's going on properly. In the original of this film the chase scene was very long but didn't dramatically flash between camera angles, so you could actually see what was going on, and another thing in the original chase scene was that leatherface kept going for ages, she couldn't get rid of him, that made it scary.

Don't really get it why they say that the film is "Based on a true story."
There are only certain scenes, loosely based on Ed Gein who was a cannibal and made facemasks from his corpses. And also bowls of skulls and lamp shades of skin etc.

And they found a lampshade made from the skin of a human face, a pair of lips on a draw string for a window shade, organs in a refridgarator,skulls on bedposts, Nine masks of human skins,four noses,ten female heads with the tops sewn off,whole human bones and fragments,human skins covering several chairs,bowls made from human skulls,and a bag in a burlap sack. This guy was sick.

@Joejoesully there are a few parts in TCM that are true, like Leather-face. His character is based on an actual serial killer named Ed Gein, in the 50's i think, who did skin (preferably women) to make a "female suit". The ugly bastard! Thus the skin mask that Leather-face wears. and the members of Leather-face's family can be related very closely to the family members of the Ed Gein's, but they all died and not by him. yes, i understand this sounds disturbing

In so many horror Films.Movies these days just really on bug Budgets for the most part. But the magic of Movie making is what can you do with a picture with the a budget in mind.Movies are so much fun to watch and who doesn't enjoy going to the Movie theatre and watching a Horror and Comedy film? Hey Dumb and Dumber is a comedy film that you just cant miss. The sequal to that film Dumb and DUMBERER FUCKING SUCKED if you ask me but for a director to move on he has to make a mistake or to.
Leatherface is such a big Horror icon like FREDDY and JASON VOORHEES. You want too see some other great horrer films then if you can handle zombie MOVIES watch George A Romero's Living Dead Series. Night of The Living Dead, Dawn of The Dead, and Day of The Dead.George has definately helped redefine the horror Genre in more ways then one.Tom Savini does the Gore in Dawn of The Dead, and Day of The Dead. He is an icon to in Horror even though he doen't Direct Horror films he does thegore effects
Unfortunately today most horror movies are bad really Shitty films but there are those gems. You just have to sort through all the Shit too get to the great FUCKiNG film. ELi ROTH is a better horror film Director then Marcus Nispel. i totally recommend checking out Cabin Fever by him and then Hostel. If you can handle the first Hostel then watch the 2nd one too.I gotta worn you guys Hostel isn't a film for the faint of Heart. Horror movies have come a long way since when they first came out!!!!!
@gersh311 Hostel 1& 2 are pretty tame compared to other films like Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, I Spit On Your Grave, Men Behind the Sun, Salo, Nekromantik, Irreversible etc. A Serbian Film is supposed to be the sickest, most profoundly disturbing film that has ever been made but i simply refuse to watch that one after all the sickening things i've heard about it. Hostel 1 & 2 is the kind of movie you can eat a Chili Dog since it's a hollywood product but those movies you can upchuck your chili dog out and barf especially Serbian Film which i refuse to see too. what about Ilsa, In a Glass Cage, Martyrs, Schramm, Guiena Pig, Ichi The killer, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Caligula (Uncut uncensored version), Pink Flamingos, The Untold Story etc.? all other disturbing as hell films that make Hostel look laughable.
@Johnlindsey289 Well, i haven't seen Schramm but it looks like another Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer type film. Most of those others, along with Man Bites Dog, Beyond the Darkness and Mark of the Devil make Hostel look pretty weak i think. Pink Flamingos, like Sweet Movie, was just messed up and gross.
there's also Nightmare (1981), Jungle Holocaust, Philosphy of a Knife, Emmanuel in America, Bloodsucking Freaks, The New York Ripper, Maniac, House on The Edge of the Park, Faces of Death, Driller Killer etc.
This film does have going for it over the original I find is more gore. Theres plenty of Swearing in it and it has more of a darker look to it but the original will always be my favorite and the fact that the original film was made on such a tight budget yet still looks fantastic is incredible. this film has a much bigger budget then the original. The irector that made this was only trying to cash in on the succes of the original film but he did a great job. Marcus Nispel is a good moviedirector

Don't really get it why they say that the film is "Based on a true story."
There are only certain scenes, loosely based on Ed Gein who was a cannibal and made facemasks from his corpses. And also bowls of skulls and lamp shades of skin etc.

@nonserviamreviews if it's not real, tell me why the house in which the original was based out of, exists. i've been to it in travis county, just outside of georgetown, it's a dentists office now. the texas chainsaw massacre happen, it's not made up. all of these movies are just based on the true events.

It was inspired by a true story but it didn't happen in Texas it happened in Wisconsin. And they found a lampshade made from the skin of a human face, a pair of lips on a draw string for a window shade, organs in a refridgarator,skulls on bedposts, Nine masks of human skins,four noses,ten female heads with the tops sewn off,whole human bones and fragments,human skins covering several chairs,bowls made from human skulls,and a bag in a burlap sack. This guy was sick.

This is the best Leatherface outta all the bitch ass TCM movies..I prefer the remakes when it comes to Leatherfaces movies because the originals fuckin sucked! How can anyone hate on the new TCM its way better than the old ones..I'm pissed that they're making a sequel to the very first one instead of doing a sequel to the remake but what ever IDGAF

@Joejoesully there are a few parts in TCM that are true, like Leather-face. His character is based on an actual serial killer named Ed Gein, in the 50's i think, who did skin (preferably women) to make a "female suit". The ugly bastard! Thus the skin mask that Leather-face wears. and the members of Leather-face's family can be related very closely to the family members of the Ed Gein's, but they all died and not by him. yes, i understand this sounds disturbing

@zMikeee "Song to the Siren". It has been covered by SO many artists; I couldn't find the version from the trailer to save my life (I think it was done solely for this movie because the singer is a nobody) but a close sounding version is done by The Mortal Coil.

DUDES want to see a good film then go see Scarface that is SUCH a FUCKiNG classic gangster film. The character in that film says FUCK like so many FUCKING times its insane. Its a really FUCKiN GORY film but if your into that like me and can stand the violence and Gore then by all means go see that MOTHERFUCKiNG film its so cool I just love it my favorite line from that film is (SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRiEND) and by LITTLE friend TONY means his big gun.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In so many horror Films.Movies these days just really on bug Budgets for the most part. But the magic of Movie making is what can you do with a picture with the a budget in mind.Movies are so much fun to watch and who doesn't enjoy going to the Movie theatre and watching a Horror and Comedy film? Hey Dumb and Dumber is a comedy film that you just cant miss. The sequal to that film Dumb and DUMBERER FUCKING SUCKED if you ask me but for a director to move on he has to make a mistake or to.

Leatherface is such a big Horror icon like FREDDY and JASON VOORHEES. You want too see some other great horrer films then if you can handle zombie MOVIES watch George A Romero's Living Dead Series. Night of The Living Dead, Dawn of The Dead, and Day of The Dead.George has definately helped redefine the horror Genre in more ways then one.Tom Savini does the Gore in Dawn of The Dead, and Day of The Dead. He is an icon to in Horror even though he doen't Direct Horror films he does thegore effects

Unfortunately today most horror movies are bad really Shitty films but there are those gems. You just have to sort through all the Shit too get to the great FUCKiNG film. ELi ROTH is a better horror film Director then Marcus Nispel. i totally recommend checking out Cabin Fever by him and then Hostel. If you can handle the first Hostel then watch the 2nd one too.I gotta worn you guys Hostel isn't a film for the faint of Heart. Horror movies have come a long way since when they first came out!!!!!

@gersh311 Hostel 1& 2 are pretty tame compared to other films like Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox, I Spit On Your Grave, Men Behind the Sun, Salo, Nekromantik, Irreversible etc. A Serbian Film is supposed to be the sickest, most profoundly disturbing film that has ever been made but i simply refuse to watch that one after all the sickening things i've heard about it. Even some hardcore gore and torture porn fans were shocked and offended by that movie. lol

Hostel 1 & 2 is the kind of movie you can eat a Chili Dog since it's a hollywood product but those movies you can upchuck your chili dog out and barf especially Serbian Film which i refuse to see too. what about Ilsa, In a Glass Cage, Martyrs, Schramm, Guiena Pig, Ichi The killer, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Caligula (Uncut uncensored version), Pink Flamingos, The Untold Story etc.? all other disturbing as hell films that make Hostel look laughable.

@Johnlindsey289 Well, i haven't seen Schramm but it looks like another Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer type film. Most of those others, along with Man Bites Dog, Beyond the Darkness and Mark of the Devil make Hostel look pretty weak i think. Pink Flamingos, like Sweet Movie, was just messed up and gross.

This film does have going for it over the original I find is more gore. Theres plenty of Swearing in it and it has more of a darker look to it but the original will always be my favorite and the fact that the original film was made on such a tight budget yet still looks fantastic is incredible. this film has a much bigger budget then the original. The irector that made this was only trying to cash in on the succes of the original film but he did a great job. Marcus Nispel is a good moviedirector
