hey im 12 years old and i have been collecting coins paper money stamps comics for the last 2 years and i have a good amount of them come look at them now in my videos.you should like them
I wouId never use a Sac$ foIder because the onIy ones that you can find in circuIation are 2000-P and 2000-D. In 2001 they circuIated some but not a Iot. To get the 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and now the native american 2009 $ can onIy be bought in BU condition. And again putting a BU coin in a foIder is not wise.
The Peace Dollar was actually the dollar which endured the depression, not coming out of it. The Great Depression started largely by a stock market crash in October of 1929. I love peace dollars they have a great story tied with their use.
My mistake. Yeah I read it was something to that affect. That's why "peace" is sculpted on the back.
I like the coin, but the Morgan dollar seems to hold up better. I don't know why. Maybe it's how collectors have kept them but Morgan dollars are often more crisper to me. I have one of my favorite from 1883 which is a beauty.
They're horrid. You know, coinage and currency can say alot about a country. People put political figures and people we want to honour. What the hell do these coins say? Better luck next series of coins?
@JRHulbret i have i a question that i really need your help on, have you ever encountered a $4 dollar coin, yes a $4 dollar coin, not gold but silver, kind of the size of a quarter, i dont believe it has a face or picture on it because i 4got most of its featurs, anyways, can you please tell me how much it may be worth, im starting to think it may be more than $4....
More Morgans, I Love Morgans a lot. I have both Morgan collectors books. And am just 15 short of a FULL Morgan collection. All mintmarks. Plus I use them a lot in my magic performances.
hey im a kid starting a coin collection..by not buying coins that are in circulation do u mean i shouldnt buy like old silver quarters and stuff from the coin stores? because u really dont see those anymore in circulation...
You tinfoil hat nuts make me laugh. Silver is a form of "savings", not investing. It's true that precious metals do go up in value over time due to inflation. You will never be "rich" collecting it. It just preserves your savings in todays dollars. You can't get any interest from it and it's a pain to sell. With stocks, I can sell it immediatly, plus if it goes down I can short it. I do collect, it's fun, but don't take it too seriously.
Tinfoil hat nuts? Hmm Ok. This is the last comment you're privilidged to. Silver will go up in value because of supply in demand and lack thereof, especially in this industrial day and age, not inflation. It's easy to sell if you know buyers. If you want to risk your money on paper false promises then by all means.
An american eagle iscurrency, but it's namely silver. Now silver is silver. Be it a necklace or oh so precious american eagles. They are a magor rip off and scandel. You would be better to buy bullion silver bars or round. The best investment is to buy silver half dollars and silver coins like that. Don't let the feds screw you over.
Your funny. I can't find anyone who sells silver eagles for less than $17. I was saying your lucky. Why is there a conspiracy with silver eagles? They are in high demand which pushes the premiums up. I do buy Walking halfs, franklin halfs, and mercury dimes. I do that to get the "cheapest" silver I can find.
Take a look at "legal tender" and whats being done to it smart ass. Now do you you realy want something that the feds say is worth a dollar? The only value in a silver eagle is the silver. Not the legal tender, and it's premium is greatly over priced. BY all means keep buying them though if it makes you feel better. I'm sure Ebay sellers love malcontents like you.
You kept saying "It's a dollar, It's a dollar." Dude, go check the value of a troy ounce of fine silver... It's not a dollar, It's something like $9.82! (Oh and by the way, those liberty eagle rounds, are investor commodety items, they are selling for like $16.00!)You knew that already....RIGHT?
Did I say it was worth a dollar? NO, and thank you. Libery eagles are one of the biggest rip offs going. Siliver IS silver. If you bought 90% silver coinage you would be spending maybe 10% over spot as compared to the inflated 100% over with liberty eagles, but I'm sure you knew that, RIGHT?
proof is one of two surfaces for coins. 1 is matte which has a flour type appearance. 2 is cameo. where the field is reflective and the portrait is matte. With proof coins, never has a human finger touched the coins. always with gloves or tongs. there are "ranks" or grades for proofs also. grades for proofs and MS are 60, 61, 62 - all the way through 70. hope it helps
"paper silver" is nothing more then market manipultation. If you're attempting to work with promisary silver notes, you might as well pretned your money is safe in a bank. Keep up with your studies.
Hahaha! Hey JRHulbret, I've heard of several marketing scams involving "paper silver" too. There is just nothing more silver promising than a silver coin or bar.
i want to get some of the big jfk one dollars where can i find them at on face value im like you i ant fixing to pay two to three times face value for a coin so do you know any place i could call and ask
I was just going over your coin videos and was wondering what camera did you use. It pics up the detail very well, when ever I get some substantial spending money I need a video camera. p.s. I got some coins coming. once I get them I will post a video. peace -Ben
I used a sony digital camcorder. It cost about 500 dollars about a year ago. It works realy well for all things.
Great to hear about your collection growing. I did have to sell some of mine, but they were kindof bought to be sold. Ive bought some of them back as well as about 7 troy pounds of silver.
They say silver is going to do amazing things ecomicly. I highly recomend it friend if you are able to buy spare silver coins here and there to do so an stuff them in your fire box. I have 7 troy pounds of pure, which take 12 troy ounces. Im hoping to hold onto them and continue to buy.
I realy should do several vids, but I just haven't had the want to get back into vids. Maybe someday.
Good luck on collecting. It has brought me years of peace.
I would recomend checking out a local magor book store if there are any in your area and also looking in the yellow pages for coin stores in your area.
US MINT stuff is junky . I don't no why people waste there money on it. silver eagles are ok the bulion stuff. But paying a premium for it is counter productive.check out the liberty dollar by norfed.
I've always loved the designs of US coins. Eagles holding arrows and surrounded by 13 stars. People being honoured by being on a coin. I would never pay for a coin I can find in circulation, and I wouldn't spend any more then I have to. When you look at the crap people will spend money on I can think of worse things then buying a piece of history. It isn't about making money on silver or valueable coins. I don't think you appreciate the hobby, the intrist, which is fine.
Hmmmm JR. I wonder if AJMAN2304 would like to have the first 1999 silver state quarter set which is over $300.00? If I do purchase from the U.S. Mint, I stick with the silver coins. I'd like to been wiser and purchased the first state quarter silver set. The ones I purchased since have gone up in value I DO say.
No need to get bent. A hobby is something to enjoy. To each their own with collecting. I collect coins, in particular circulated ones because they have a story. I recently bought an 1858 half dollar. Imagine where that coin has been over the past 150 years.
As far as investing, I stick to bullion silver. I only have to pay .50-.75 over spot and I don't have to pay tax. Theres no saying where silver where stop value wise.
I now own a Norfed 10 dollar coin. So much to say about the idea of an alternative currency. Thats why the feds closed it down. I hope it sparked another mind though to do the same thing.
i got every coin on there and execpt for the american eagle 1 once of silvere but im gonna by a better 1 2008 proof american eagle but the coin shop is far im sorry for but the guy the coin shop is full of shit hes mean at dallas rare coins in forestlain
Good deal. They will help to keep you organized and motivated, but if you have a rare coin, the "acids" in the book over a long period of time will damage the coin. The books are great, but keep the realy good coins in a different holder. Keep me imformed.
Heh, your currency is a lot shinier than ours (UK). Nice collection though, I'm trying to get all one sample of each UK coin minted from 1971 to present, but it so far doesn't seem to be going very well. Namely that most of the coins were redesigned about 20 years ago :(
Yeah. I think that is when it switched over to decimal. Try buying rolls at the bank and then cashing back what you didn't use. That's what I did for my current circulation coins.
Well, we do have 1 dollar coins. I doubt they will ever introduce 2 dollar coins or higher value coins. The current ones are the ones you saw in the vid, but more likely to see the Sacajawea dollars( indian lady) or Susan B dollars. You will get them as change from vending machines, and see them in gambling casinos. We dont realy use them alot for buying practical things, but we can. Dollar coins are realy more for collecting, but legal tender.
So what exactly is the situation with dollars in the USA? I was always under the impression that they are almost always notes, and that all attempts to introduce a coin into general circulation proved unpopular and unsuccessful.
Do dollar coins get used day to day in the US? What is the rough coin to note ratio in terms of what you would see day to day?
The one era where coins were in dollar denomination were in the late 1800s-early 1900s with gold coins. I think in 1, 2 and 1/2 half,5, 10, and 20 dollar denominations.
You should find a nice seated liberty dollar for your collection. They are hard to find, but well worth the hunt. As these are often counterfeited, be sure to buy one certfied by PCGS, NGC, or ANANCS. Gold dollars (pre-1933) are cool too. The same applies to them.
My uncles have some REAL G stuff. The value of my collection is pretty much just in the silver, but I do have an 1877 indian head and an AU 55 Franklin half. I'll see waht the prices of precious metals and coins are after school is over. It will always be a passion of mine though.
I found the perfect 1877 cent at a recent coin show, PCGS certified EF-40 with great eye appeal, but I wasn't ready to committ myself to the $2,400 price tag. Maybe in a few years I'll pick up this admission ticket to starting a complete set of Indian Head Cents.
This one would be lucky to get a G3. It looks like a burn victom, but being that I found it in a junk box I won't compain. I also have an 1864 Indian vf.
I would like to get a 1917 or 1918 obverse sided mint mark liberty half dollars.
I look foward to it. I think I'll be doing another video on other coins and dollars I didin't show. I'll subscribe to your channel so I won't miss it.
I just got a 1971 Eisenhower. I'm a big fan of dollar coins cause tha t what I mainly collect. I aslo got a James Madison. I'm sill on the look for the american silver eagle, the peace dollar and the Morgan dollar. Nice talking to you.
My coin collection focuses on MS and PF condition on recent issues. Have all half and dollar coins in untouched by human hands condition from 1939 to current. Also have all that include Original Gov't Packaging and COA and in every proof set and coin set. Not a single one missing.

Thank you.
Good call on coins.

I would like to get a 1917 or 1918 obverse sided mint mark liberty half dollars.

now I have 2 1976 silver dollar. they rock!
CoinCasey 4 years ago
Coin collecting is A real cool hobby. You don't need to be rich. Just look through your spare change and maybe pick the books up.
The dollar you have is an Eisenhower ( the president on the front).
I would hate to discourage you, but it might not be silver. If it has an S on the front, then it's part silver. Keep coin searching!
