Denmark has aproximately 5.5mil in population and we send 6 Tanks to Afghanistan that makes it a little more than 1 Tank per million citizens. The USA has aproximately 310mil in current population, does the US have 310 tanks in Afghanistan? When you come to the finish line don't you think that 6 Tanks is quite many for a country with less citizens than New York City?

@god4488 It sure would. But given that Denmark doesn't have better tanks with better armour anyways, and the PBI needed the heavier support offered by our tanks, they have to make do. At the present time I don't think danish government plans on spending such a large amount of money on armour upgrades, like the German Bundeswehr is planning to. But our guys sure could need it...

@PalleRasmussen I know that our boys have had to many casualties, and I also knew that we have had the most casualties with population in mind.

They can lay their heads down and rest easy in the halls of Valhalla, and take their rightful seat at the longtable . I am proud of them all, both the fallen and their comrades who come home. The job they do, is dangerous, heart- and thankless but they do it anyway. That alone should be enough to earn our respect. They have mine as well as my gratitude.

@dbhansen101 The US has more than 310 tanks stationed not just in Afghanistan but around the world. 6 tanks is still a modest contribution by Denmark considering their military size, but do not try to compare the power projection capabilities.

It makes no sense to compare Danish and US military powers. Still your critic doesn't seem fair. Denmark is the only country together with Canada and since recently the US to employ MBTs in Afghanistan. Danish troops serve in the troublesome Helmand province. President Obama said earlier this year that despite being a relatively small country Denmark is a country that punches above its weight ... and I think that says it all.

Not directly, the US and the Danish forces aren't deployed in the same zones.

Well, mainly Danish, probably in Helmand. But there is also US, and UK and some other coalition forces in Helmand, so it is possible it will support each at some point.

Yes and no today the Danish Army has the M113 G3 DK they are the world's best version of the m113's so they are not bad in anyway. But then yes we could use our CV90/35 DK's but they are not really made for that task.

there are no national only upgrades at the Leo2... all national developt improvments are shared with all user nations ... one of the big advantage of the Leo2 over other tanks... the latest devlopment is avaible for all Leo2 user nations

The camouflage system added to the danish Leo2 is nothing new... such system were already developt for the early Leo2 versions
