i just checked out your website, and its awesome! i know what ill be doing for the next couple weeks lol :P. i like all the girls in the layout by the way, they made me laugh :). question: do you scallop your own fretboards, and if so how?
@henrikhansson1 There's lots of feeling in this. But it's an aggressive feeling. Just like an upset or angry person speaks louder and faster in order to express those emotions some use speed as a way to express that feeling. That's why metal is loud and fast, because it's angry music :o) And that's why most blues songs are slow and a lot less loud, because the basic feeling of that type of music is more sad and mellow. Thanks for commenting
@torrid94 Yes you can. But most acoustic guitars have no truss rod so the neck is held straight by the wood only. So it's a good idea to be very careful not to remove more wood than necessary. Thanks!
@melodicdestruction Hi. The term "blues" can be used about the basic notes used to create the blues sound and the basic chord progressions of blues. Since I don't play the style of blues, I always use the term to describe what building blocks I'm using and not what style of music I'm playing. I agree that this lick would sound a bit off if B.B. King suddenly played it. I doubt that his audience would find it appropriate :o) Thanks for commenting
thats some cool shredding. My friend just scalloped the whole neck on one of his guitars (he makes guitars), and i find it hard to play fast stuff like this on it cos it just feels weird.
you aren't really suppose to scallop anything above the 12th fret lol. i have never played a scalloped fingerboard, but it's common scalloping knowledge that it is ridiculously hard to play guitars that are entirely scalloped for most people.
@GoodMetalFTW It feels a little weird at first. But if you decide to play it for an hour you stop thinking about it. That's my experience anyway. Thanks for commenting!
@cortezandthekillers Because it sounds so bad when you push the strings to hard on a scalloped fretboard, you eventually stop doing it without really thinking about it. Your brain automatically avoids what is not pleasurable and so it adjusts to it over time. Thanks
sorry I've had a few beers in my system, but was the same the lick just in different positions? not that I have anything against it, A lot of licks sound awesome by playing them again in a different position.
@predz23 Almost the same lick in three different positions. But I'm following the blues scale on the B-string or a mutated version of it. Thanks for commenting
do you know what mode/scale this is is? Would make it easier knowing that, instead of guessing the tones (I'm trying to avoid tab so I can properly learn notation :P )
@MapleLeafAce It's an E-diminished arpeggio mixed with the E-blues scale. The blues scale has some chromatic notes in it as well. Thanks for commenting!
@wenglish1968 Very nicely observed. But this is actually diminished triads. But the last three notes of a dominant 7th b9 is a diminished triad so your ear does not fool you :) Thanks for commenting.
Neoclassical Blues ! :D

Scalloped fret board haha no way nice playing man

Thiiis sounds...more like a diminished scale...not a regular Dorian, Mixolyidian, or lydian scale, not even a penotonic scale with the blue note.

a scalloped fretboard , do you prefer that ?

I never could get into the scalloped finger boards. My chords were always out of tune. At least not until the 12th fret. Cool otherwise!
