I wish I hadn't gotten mine on may 3rd 2011, my arm swelled up, got red and hot-that lasted 3 1/2 weeks & it itched sooo bad I wanted to scratch it down to the bone! Now it's july & I can't move that arm above my head, have muscle loss, constant pain like someone just punched me in the arm really hard. The Dr just says don't get a tetnus again- no plan on how to treat the constant pain & loss of muscle strength. I had the tetnus, dipheria, pertussis combo- they never even told me till problem

If you received your regular vaccination don't need tatanus iniection when you cut your hand. i don't knof if this is not necessary but i am sure it will be usefull for next time you'll find tetanus in your life way.

lol- u know what really prevents tetanus? not getting it! its called health & proper cleansing procedures. If u can clean a wound properly, then tetanus has no way of developing. it develops only when u give it the anaerobic toxic settings to which result from improper wound care

@imbrd I'm am nursing student and i know what tetanus is and how it's work. Often people who develope a tetanism don't remember where and when they hurted skin so vaccine cover is the best choice but off course covered the future hurts not the last.

wrong- the only thing that will truly protect u from any such tetanus OR ANY POSSIBLE DISEASE/COMPLICATION is proper wound care.

u can very much develop tetanus even with the vaccine.

tetanus comes from the toxins that accumulate in the anaerobic environment under the wound. If u let the wound heal properly (aerobically) meaning u let the wound heal from bottom up instead of covering it.

Doctors are the new high priests of the health religion. Like the high priests of old, vested interests may sometimes blind them to prescribing the best for the interests of their patients. So my own thinking is that it is high time an independent body should oversee what are and are not necessary in different scenarios including the need for vaccines for testanus etc.

I didn't even take pain killers! I refused a prescription.

I took some Ibuprofin. That's all.

It was painful, but my health is worth it!
