I had a Dell with the same problem as your old one. There were a lot of defective units sold at that time with shorts in the motherboard.

@canonfs40user Dells also have ALOT of problmes with the chargers frying i have went thru 3 chargers on my old Dell. plus the battery on the old dell is just about toast.

that is a nice laptop my 9 year old desktop is a custom one it will take 2 gigs of ddr400 and 3 gigs of ddr2 it has a 2.08 ghz amd athlon xp 2800 a abit nf7s mobo a bfg geforce 7800 gs oc video card with an nvidia geforce 7800 gpu the mobo has the nvidia nforce 2 chipset with 5.1 channel audio the vid card has 256 megabytes if gddr2 memory and the mobo has 1 gig of ram it runs amazingly well the os is win 7 ultimate 32 bit.
