  • The current system of immigration is simply not sustainable. Poor economic opportunity makes this even more blatantly true.

  • By flooding the market with cheap illegal labor this only exasperates the problem, and makes it easier for unscrupulous employers to take advantage of the immigrants here. Stop the illegal immigration first secure the borders then lets talk about changing the quota system.

  • you are right on.

  • to say there is no right to immigrate to the united states is to say no other citizen of the globe has property rights in some random standard of vicinity unless given your express permission. Wheres the unalienable rights in that? Are they only approved by vote? I think i heard somewhere that this country was originally intended as a republic? A nation of laws and not men, nor their ideals, desires, or whims. Thats what the "transient causes" refers to. Justice is objective.

  • These rights were fought for,by us. Paid for with the blood of our ancestors and brothers, sisters, cousins and friends. If they want those same rights in their countries, they, are going to have to deal with that in their own countries themselves. If they want the privilege of becoming a U.S. Citizen do it right or stay home.

  • you are suggesting "do exactly as the government says." i don't believe it is the constitutional right of the government give orders to its people. That's opposite the definition of the principle of Liberty. No country can shed its faults in a single night, nor will they consider doing so for the benefit of one man. America is the nation where people can achieve that which is good w/o restraint, but you want to bar people based on some sort of "practical" quota w/o the right to do so?

  • No, I am saying "keep your promise" to the government. They gave out amnesty with the promise of no more amnesty that they would enforce the law! It is high time that they enforced the law no more amnesty!

  • what promise? i never promised any government affiliate anything.

  • I want the government to keep its promise it made to the U.S. citizens.

  • yes yes, i asked what promise please??????

tell me these promises you're referring to?????

  • America, at least in intent, was and should be the proud nation of Individuals who recognize that the founders and first settlers of this land saw it as a place of opportunity, wealth, growth. any other person has the complete freedom of action in this nation. Theres no secret police, harsh censorship laws, or big brother eyeballs. but you are not free to get away with the actions that violate the rights of others. no fraud, no theft, no vandalism. those are acts opposite of upholding liberty.

  • im not an anarchist by the way, my thought is laws are necessary, but not ones that take away a persons right to have a decision for their lives and act upon it, just because a large horde who so far have had the monopoly on individual freedom in this globe dont want to share. It doesnt belong to you, or the government. The earth is the earth. But if you live in this corner of the globe or any, you have to respect your life and the living of others; bar force from society unless to protect.

  • Are you saying that you don't acknowledge or respect other countries borders or their right to sovereignty?

  • i dont respect any man who uses others as the mean to his ends. that should address more than just that example. What I respect is a mans life and his right to property, but he has to do something to gain it because need and want aren't claims to property, production is. If a man does what is necessary to gain survival and luxury in a material and spiritual sense whos to say they are they just arbiter of his actions but the man who thought and acted in the first place. No king/nation/spirit, etc

  • who do you mean by " "we" own the land?" i think it turns into a welfare state when you tell the government to block any other inhabitant of the globe from finding happiness within our borders without your explicit approval. shouldnt the gov.'t monitor you as well to make sure justice is being served and that you are "doing you job like an american?" button-pushing is hardly what the founding fathers had in mind for your aspirations, or for any individual. now you want to delegate who can try?

  • We the people of the United states of America own the country. In other words the citizens of the country, own the country so get over it.

  • following that reasoning, does that mean whenever you own property in America you own it by the consent of your peers in this nation? Does society give you the "privilege" to property?

  • Though I don't support the taking of land by imminent domain statutes. It certainly appears that way.

  • Just like all other nations in the world,we have laws governing immigration and other facets of daily life to ensure security and well being. Why shouldn't we ask those who wish to become citizens to follow all of these laws? Who owns the government? And therefore who owns the land? Post a video response.

  • What is so moral about breaking the laws in the country you wish to be a citizen of? Why shouldn't the constitution of the United States be described as the rights of the citizens of the United States? You act as if we have never had a quota for the number of people that the Government thinks that the U.S. economy can absorb.

  • Because these laws are for "light and transient causes" and its exactly the because the cause of this nation and what it has done for individual rights that i am inspired to stand up for what the founding fathers believed; not even that, they held conviction, and they fought at the stake of death for it. The economy can't "absorb"? Is too much taxpayer dollar goin to mess things up? I think a free market and freedom from laws that to me seem arbitrary are the best solution for your "dilemma."

  • Actually there is a born "right" to roam freely. We are taking away that right by forming a monopoly on a piece of land, then making rules saying only a certain amount of brown people can come in each year.

  • Comment removed

  • Where did I say anything about "brown people". Where have I ever said anything regarding a single race or country? Your attack at insinuating racism smacks of a common attack used by anarchists and by the new Left. Anyone who disagrees is a racist. What I did say is that I welcome those who immigrate legally. Get it correct.

  • by the way the guy who made this video doesnt look like hes cramped elbow to elbow with an overflow of immigrants in the room. and if you or he stepped out their door it be hard to discern some sort of immigration problem without the aid of biased news media and active government policies both of which are equivalent to the socialist whine of "i want"

  • Well if raykmond is right and I don't doubt that he is about a good number of them, then Obama and the Politicians supporting them are doops. In which case they could be termed subversives and ultimately traitors.

  • If you watch the videos here on YouTube. And listen to the illegals in the street. They are not here to become Americans. They will tell you to your face. The plan is to reconquest... they plan on amnesty. Then they will vote in Hispanic leaders. Then they will vote to succeed from the union. Then they will vote to join back with Mexico. It is in the videos. Go out, confront them and get them angry. Then they will tell you the truth to your face. This is a political war with no bullets.

  • crackpot conspiracies sound pretty unamerican to me. anybody remember adolf hitler? you think your opinion is any different from his? Whether you want to help or harm people, the decision itself can't come from a baseless principle of collective desire. Collective desires are what brought the KKK, nazis, and the american mixed economy. The principle to argue here is whether you have any right to determine what a person pursues in their own interest. Colonists might provide an argument (D. of I.)

  • Why isn't there a right to immigrate? Do you own the United States of America and everyone's property?

  • Yes,the ciitzens have the right to make laws on immigration.

  • Ah, yes, "legal

immigration"- which means, in practice, put up as many barriers to entry, as

much red tape, as possible in order to make immigration extremely

    difficult.

  • exactly. glad you understand.

Now go through the process legally and IF we have room for you and you are considered beneficial to the USA;you will be allowed to join the greatest nation in the world.

    Otherways:STFU.

  • "... IF we have room for you and you are considered beneficial to the USA... "

Who decides who is "beneficial" to the USA? This is an improper standard.

  • For your information the founders believed two things: 1 Congress has the right to determine immigration and naturalization laws and 2). The United States would use economic need of the nation as criteria for who and how many immigrants would be accepted. They didn't write the sentence on the statue of Liberty, a songwriter did. Look into it. So, yes, "beneficial" need was the intent of the founders. Sorry to break it to you.

  • The American people decide who comes to OUR country. Why should it be any other way? America is a country just like any other and a country has a right to control who comes there.

  • Amen to that DanAmato.

  • "exactly"

People of your mentality *destroy* the USA.

  • qtronman ,You are from Canada you guys have screwed the pooch up there why should we give you a free pass ?

  • NO, the people of your mentality want to destroy the U.S.A.. We want to keep the constitution and the bill of rights intact. Doing those two things keeps the U.S. alive. Redo you bill of rights. Don't have one? There in lies the problem.

  • You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, and your emotional reaction demonstrates the emptiness of your thinking. You hate immigrants because you fear them, and you dont want to examine your fears.

  • Qtronman Like I said If Canada wants to open its' borders to any and all people without any form of immigration rules fine. Fight for that in your country. Does your country have immigration quotas? Does your country have immigration laws? Answer these questions with facts and let us see what you have.

  • Yes, Canada's immigration laws are similar to US immigration laws, though probably more open in some ways. I am for open immigration in Canada. The essay that I read, if you didn't notice, was written by an American, but that is beside the point. Your very mentality is evidence of your xenophobia: you consider an idea as good or bad, true or false, due to the national origin of its promulgator. You just can't bring your mind out of this tribal level?

  • Let me get this straight, because I am in favor of legal immigration to the United States of America. I am a xenophobe. Does that also mean that because I support following the laws of the country that I am an Anarchist?

  • its not a matter of nationalism, more its an issue of morality. the writers of the dec. of indep. and constitution were thinkers in the time of the enlightenment. they purposely established a government centered around the rights of man, so that every man who desired so could come to a country with plenty of as yet unpopulated and undeveloped unowned land that any person can come to unearth happiness from. but why complain when he creates some minor inconvenience imagined. why "maintain" people?
